She was very smart and kind. I had the pleasure of working with her as a publicist when her biography “Call Me Anna” was released in 1988. She has passed away at the age of 69. Here are a few details from the LA Times.
Patty Duke, former child star and Academy Award winner for her performance as Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker,” has died at age 69.
“Anna ‘Patty Duke’ Pearce passed away this morning March 29, 2016 at 1:20 am. Her cause of death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental health advocate and a cultural icon. She will be greatly missed,” said a statement released by Duke’s manager Tuesday morning.
More information to come as available.
Her last post to Twitter was March 15: @pattyduke_id

This is so sad – she was really young. I remember how much I enjoyed watching her “The Patty Duke Show” when I was a kid.
Wow, I am shocked; so very sad and yes, too young…
Yes a shocker and a terrible way to go at that.Prayers sent up for her family.
Be not sad for her but rejoice, for her mission here is now complete and she is now at home in glory and light. She is once again that vibrant and beautiful soul that shined through for all to see. Well done my sister, pray for us who are still toiling on this mortal coil. We will all see you again in the light where you reside in some day. God bless…….
