Great!

While the explosives are fireworks, it’s commercial grade material. Remember, the Boston terrorists bought fireworks as a possible explosive source for their bombs, and from the same store where the failed Times Square bomber bought his fireworks used in his attempted car bomb.

Federal authorities are on a multi-state hunt after more than 500 pounds of explosives were stolen from a CSX Train that stopped in Detroit, according to CBS News.

The train was traveling from Chicago, through Ohio and into Detroit.

7 Action News has spoken with the ATF. They say the theft was discovered Wednesday and 32 cases are missing. One full case was discovered on the train.

Officials say the fireworks are the commercial grade and of the type typically used for aerial shows. They are not for use by consumers.

When the train car arrived in Detroit, half of the shipment was gone, according to CBS News, and investigators believe the explosives were stolen along the way.

An ATF spokesperson told CBS News it is a very serious case. CBS News said the explosives are technically classified as fireworks, but “because they are commercial grade combined with the quantity makes them extremely dangerous.”

Airplane security used to focus on hijacking. Train and tractor trailer security has been focused on accidents not impacting the citizenry. Business needs to address now. Can’t rely on government to prevent terrorism.
