May 28th is the lucky day. Who knew?

The history of the hamburger is as glorious as it is illustrious.

Although there are several claims for the invention of the burger, it is most widely believed the burger was introduced by Fletcher “Old Dave” Davis from Athens, Texas.

Davis began selling the ground beef patty sandwich at the amusement area, known as The Pike, at the St. Louis World’s Fair Louisiana Purchase Exhibition in 1904.

He took some raw burger steak, placed it on his flat grill and fried it until it was a crisp brown on both sides. It must have turned out okay to still be going strong today.

It is elsewhere asserted that not only is today National Hamburger Day, but May is National Hamburger Month. Wow.

Get into the spirit of this great American tradition by playing the song, the “Hamburger Hop”.
