We have one mission, and that’s to get the White House into the hands of the Republicans. Anything other than that and there will be no turning back. Let’s stay focused, with our eyes on the prize!

Via The Hill.

The Republican Party officially nominated Donald Trump for president on Tuesday, capping his remarkable rise from political outsider to the standard-bearer of the GOP.

Trump officially secured the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination after his home state of New York cast 89 delegates for the businessman.

Trump’s adult children joined the New York delegation to cast the decisive vote that put Trump over the top. Donald Trump, Jr. was given the honor of making the announcement, and he promised his father would put the Empire State in play in November.

Republican delegates were enthusiastic in making the nomination.

There was speculation leading up to the event that there would be protests from a faction of “Never Trump” conservatives. But the response to Trump during a state-by-state roll call vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the billionaire businessman.

With only a few exceptions, delegates from state after state stood to announce that their delegation would throw the entirety of their support behind Trump.

He will accept the party’s nomination in a speech on Thursday night as the convention concludes, though he is also scheduled to make an appearance on Tuesday night from New York.

It was a strong showing of unity from a party that entered the convention split over their presumptive nominee.

My oh my what a wonderful day…

NYT doesn’t disappoint today. Above the fold, middle, is a headline that Convention speeches trouble GOP Blacks. And top right it has; GOP nominates businessman Wife’s oration overshadows convention. NYT doesn’t even name DJT.

    July 20 to January 20, 6 months to go. I ain’t no ways tired…

What an intense campaign this has been. It’s good to see the party so unified behind Trump, and it feels like we really want to win this time. The level of enthusiasm is pretty amazing, and there’s a lot of from-the-heart speaking, which I don’t remember being the case in 2012. I never thought I’d hear a room full of Republican delegates chanting “lock her up” directed at the other party’s nominee, but one sided civility is the shield the Democrats have been hiding behind for decades, and it’s nice to see that blown up. It makes it look like the Republicans really believe what they’re saying and they really care about something.

People are watching and getting the message. If Hillary is as relentlessly negative in the convention as she has been so far I can’t imagine it’ll draw people over to her.
