Finally, the “Kennedy Seat” is now the Kavanaugh Seat. Judge Kavanaugh is now Associate Justice Kavanaugh. The behavior of the Democrats and their allied groups during this confirmation have united the Republicans in a way not seen for a decade. Liberals once again overestimated themselves and underestimated everyone else. They will regret this in November.

The Senate voted Saturday to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, marking the end to one of the most rancorous confirmation fights in modern times and securing a rightward shift on the nation’s highest court.

The chamber voted 50-48 to confirm Kavanaugh, mostly along party lines, after a weeklong FBI probe helped settle concerns among most wavering senators about the sexual assault allegations that nearly derailed his nomination and led to a dramatic second hearing. Saturday’s roll call marked the tightest successful Supreme Court confirmation vote in over 100 years, closer than even that of Clarence Thomas who similarly faced sexual misconduct allegations.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. was the sole Democrat to vote “yes.” Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, was a “no,” but voted “present” as a courtesy to Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., who was attending his daughter’s wedding in Montana.

Now we need to replace Ginsburg.

I am sad to see so much venom. The rage and hate seems to rise and rise. This can’t go on forever, but how does it end? We don’t need Russia or North Korea to do it; at this pace we’ll destroy ourselves.

  3. Dragon Lady says:

Amen, Maynard…but you do NOT let a “bully” be allowed to keep up his/her/its egregious behavior.

They are the children with the tantrum(s) in the room…we are the adults.

Let not your heart be troubled.

Its so wonderful when prayers are answered. They always are but usually
with an Big Fat No. So glad God’s will matches our own today. May He bless the Kavanaugh family and forgive his enemies.

Confrontation is standard operating procedure for the radical Left. They won’t let anything get in their way. Destruction and chaos are the means to their authoritarian goals.

Liberals are parasites sucking ancillary short-term benefit from those radical tactics—up to a point. Liberals know if it goes violent, as in the 60’s, it will ultimately work against them. They are playing with fire and they will get burned with everything else if a conflagration starts.

America is inevitably changing demographically and therefore culturally. There will be difficulties and upheavals along the way. If we maintain true liberalism—liberty, democracy, tolerance—America can evolve into a better version of what our Founders envisioned and what human kind has been dreaming about for eons.

True Liberals and Conservatives have to realize we have a common interest and that radicalism is a common enemy of the good. So far it doesn’t look promising.

This is why the evangelicals came out to vote for Donald Trump in record numbers. They knew he would nominate conservative judges to the Supreme Court. And, they knew he would fight tooth and nail for his nominee. It’s who he is and what he does. It won’t always look pretty, but it will get done.

In the meantime, he’s teaching the GOP how to stand up and fight, which is something completely foreign to them. He has accomplished so much in less than 2 years and he’s just getting started. Unprecedented progress, in the face of unprecedented resistance on all sides. Reminds me of this verse, Psalm 27:2.

In the end, we win. Yay, us!

The Democrats may have lost the SCOTUS seat, but at least they kept their dignity.
