The Marines Move Further Out of the Stone Age

It's about time. You know I love our military, it is the best in the world. And will get only better when the avoidance of recruiting woman, and their exclusion from combat, ends. This is a good first step.

Marines step up female recruiting

The Marines are looking for a few good women. Actually, they will take as many as they can get. Faced with the difficulty of recruiting during a long and unpopular war, the U.S.

Marine Corps has started marketing itself to women in a concerted way for the first time. It is running ads in magazines like Shape, Self and Fitness, which appeal mainly to female readers, as well as through more mainstream outlets like "American Idol," where the message is a unisex one of patriotism rather than macho swagger.

The new campaign aims at athletic women, not just all women graduating from high school, and the messages conveyed are much more egalitarian.

...One is Ana Castillo, a senior at William Chrisman High School in Independence, Mo., who mailed in a reply card last September after seeing an ad in a women's fitness magazine in the waiting room of a doctor's office.

Castillo seems to be precisely the kind of young woman being sought by the advertising. She plays soccer and softball at high school and says she is hungry to prove herself on more dangerous fields.

"The Marines are the toughest," she said in a telephone interview. "They have the longest boot camp, the highest standards. The Marines want people to actually want to be in the Marines, not just be in it for the money." She will turn 18 on June 24 and plans to leave for boot camp on July 7, after her high school graduation.

Like anyone entering the Marine Corps today, Castillo is keenly aware of where she is probably headed. "I'm OK with it," she said. "If I get sent to Iraq, I'm going to be ready."

Brava.

UPDATE:

Well, to say I'm a little disappointed in most of the comments here would be an understatement. While I love you all, let me remind you that "Semper Fifi" and "They are not physically equipped to do the same job a man can do..." and "small soldiers and cops are just not good enough..." and "putting women into the front lines of combat is insane and suicidal..." among so many other comments are backward and stubborn. I'm also disappointed I have to remind you of this following story, because I posted on this in early March and don't recall any of you pontificating on this post having the apparently Superior Male Understanding and Courage to salute our most recent Silver Star recipient:

mlbrown.jpg

A 19-year-old medic from Texas will become the first woman in Afghanistan and only the second female soldier since World War II to receive the Silver Star, the nation's third-highest medal for valor.

Army Spc. Monica Lin Brown saved the lives of fellow soldiers after a roadside bomb tore through a convoy of Humvees in the eastern Paktia province in April 2007, the military said. After the explosion, which wounded five soldiers in her unit, Brown ran through insurgent gunfire and used her body to shield wounded comrades as mortars fell less than 100 yards away, the military said.

Yeah, sounds like she proved women are just too small and physically un-equipped to do a soldier's job. Funny though, I think the five men she saved that day just may disagree with all of you. And don't any of you dare suggest this is some sort of anomaly--how would you know when women are kept from the battlefield specifically because of Stoneage stubborness? The fact is, there are so few of us directly on the front line the odds are significantly against women being in a position to perform gallantly, making Special Brown's actions even more statistically significant.

Now grow up and remember that a woman went through hell to give you the gift of life, and women will also go through hell, and back, to fight for this nation and save her.

Sheesh.

Cindy McCain Profile

cindym.jpg

I've noted this on Tammy Radio and repeat it here: of all six people in the presidential race--the candidates and their spouses, there is only one I'm truly comfortable with being in the White House--Cindy McCain. Comparison among the spouses of the candidates, well, it's ridiculous to even compare the three. Mrs. McCain loves this country, is grateful for it, is a decent, dignified person and can keep her pants on. I also like her better than I like her husband, but that was also the case for me regarding GW Bush and his wife in 2000 and 2004. While I am now not happy with President Bush and so many of his decisions, I have no regret for both of my votes for him.

All that said, we know about Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton and invariably have to open the windows because of the stink. Let's clear that air a bit with getting to know Cindy McCain a little more. The Wall Street Journal has a profile of her, and it's worth sharing, so here you go. This is one of the first interviews to address her addiction to pain killers over 15 years ago after back surgeries. I've also said this about President Bush and his conquering alcoholism-- people who overcome addiction earn even more of my respect for the discipline it takes to get one's life back. It's not easy to do, and it illustrates remarkable strength of character.

Oh, and btw, Mrs. McCain will be one of the Guest Hosts on Monday's "The View." That pack of swine (the exception to the swine rule is Hasselbeck who is just ridiculously ineffective) just may learn a little bit about dignity that day.

Preference Aside, Cindy McCain Handles Limelight

On a recent balmy Sunday, John and Cindy McCain hosted the national press corps at their ranch here. Mrs. McCain's touches were evident -- the ceiling fans hung from tree branches, the art of their children displayed on the cabin's walls, the Budweiser beer tap from her family's business. Dogs she has adopted ran about...

The 53-year-old wife of Sen. McCain doesn't seek the limelight. While the picture-perfect Mrs. McCain regularly introduces her husband at campaign events, she often retreats after her duties are done, donning her fully loaded iPod and typing away on her silver BlackBerry.

"The campaign gets to be a little too much for me," she said in an interview. "I take some time off occasionally...and then I get back out."... Although she says she wants to be a "traditional" first lady, Mrs. McCain has led a life that by any measure has been untraditional.

She heads one of the nation's largest beer distributorships, an Anheuser-Busch Cos. franchise inherited from her father. She has sported "MS BUD" on her license plate, and from the campaign trail she uses her BlackBerry and cellphone to oversee this region's rollout of Bud Lite Lime and to expand her corporate empire...

And about that drug addiction?

The Best Thing About John McCain?

Cindy. Beautiful. Smart. Fabulously wealthy. Heiress to a beer empire. Part owner of a baseball team. Successful and respected businesswoman. Loves the country. I'm beginning to think the wrong McCain is running.

Silda Wall Spitzer, A Woman Who Deserves Better

silda2.jpg

I made a comment today on Fox News when discussing the Eliot Spitzer debacle (and if some of my fellow talking heads would stop calling it a 'tragedy,' because it's not--it's a destructive, self-indulgent, meltdown of a Malignant Narcissist, nothing more), wondering why wives stand next to these buffoons at their Perp Stand press conferences. I originally did not intend on posting about Mrs. Spitzer, but have been inspired to do so by this in Comments in the original Spitzer thread by lnbee:

What's got me so angry is here's another beautiful, talented, hugely successful woman, his wife Silda, who gave up her own career to support his political aspirations. Let this and Hillary's albatross be a lesson to young women today. You don't have to sacrifice your own dreams [on] hold to these selfish, narcissitic A**holes!!!

spitzerpc.jpg

Ms. Wall Spitzer, deserving better and showing the strain.

I was indeed disgusted on Monday when I once again saw a woman standing next to a man who publicly embarrassed and perhaps even destroyed their entire family (to say nothing of the public trust) because he couldn't think past himself. For those not based in New York, perhaps all that was seen was a tired, shell-shocked wife standing next to, as lnbee noted, an a**hole. But Silda Wall Spitzer is indeed more than that and better than what she was handed today.

Here's a New York Times profile (linked to third party coverage) of Wall Spitzer. Note the irony of who she sought out for help in learning the ropes of helping her politician husband while maintaining the dignity of her family. This is just a snippet, but read the whole thing. We'll be seeing a lot of Eliot Spitzer on the days to come. Let's hope after 19 years of marriage to this MalNar Silda will make a different, and better, decision than Hillary Clinton did in the aftermath of such a remarkable betrayal.

HIllary Cries, Chelsea Tries

hillarybaby.png

Once again behind or with Barack Obama too close for comfort, Hillary replays the Crying Game. Instead of attempting to counter Obama with better ideas or more inspiring rhetoric, Hillary decides manipulating you is the better option. And New York NOW blathers on about how it's Teddy Kennedy who has abandoned women with his Obama endorsement. Actually, it's Hillary who has abandoned all of us. She did so when she defended and enabled her sexually compulsive husband, and she does so now, pandering to the crowd that only trusts a woman when she's victimized, in pain or otherwise incapable of controlling herself.

Now it's not even enough to have the older Clinton woman injecting pandering emotionalism into the campaign trail. After Chelsea insisted she wasn't going to be involved in order to "protect her privacy" she's proving she's learned a lot from her cynical, manipulative parents.

Chelsea Clinton On The Campaign Trail:...'You're not voting for the Clintons. You're voting for my mother,' candidate's daughter emphasizes.

As the daughter of a former president, Chelsea Clinton has long been in the public spotlight. Now campaigning to become the daughter of a future president, the 27-year-old Stanford graduate is finally ready for her close-up.

In a move that might have been considered unusual even a few months ago, the extremely private Chelsea spent all day Friday stumping for her mother, Hillary Clinton...Chelsea is definitely her parents' child..."There's no one that I love more, that I respect more," a smiling Clinton said of her mother during the day's second stop in Santa Barbara. "She makes the best applesauce. She reads to me still when I don't feel well. I've never doubted that I'm the most important person in the world to her."

When another student expressed concern about voting "the Clintons" back into the White House, Chelsea responded sharply, "You're not voting for the Clintons. You're voting for my mother."

Yes indeed, they've taught her well, haven't they? She's able to deliver the biggest load of Bravo Sierra as smoothly as both of her parents.

Well, apparently the Hillary message has stopped resonating with women voters who, perhaps unlike teenagers and 20 year olds, know that a vote for Hillary is a vote for the Clintons, and we don't like that idea very much.

Crying Her Way to the White House

Really, is this what we have to deal with now? The first viable woman presidential candidate, so controlled and machine driven, she has to cry to get us to believe she's a 'real' person. One small step for Hillary, one giant leap for Crybabies.

Clinton reveals turning point in race for White House

Hillary Clinton revealed today the turning point which helped to resurrect her presidential campaign and stall the seemingly unstoppable bandwagon of her rival Barack Obama.

She described the incident in a New Hampshire diner when she almost broke into tears as a "wonderful moment" that allowed voters to "get a sense of why I do what I do". [...]

In a series of interviews on the early morning US news shows, Clinton said she believed her display of emotion had been a factor in the turnaround that reversed a double-digit deficit in opinion polls.

The clip, which was shown repeatedly on television, aired a rare vulnerability.

"I'm really glad I had a chance to say what I believe in my heart," she told CNN. "People realised the reason I do this is I love this country so profoundly. When the cameras turn off and the speeches are done, what have we actually done to improve people's lives."

Well, I hope the 'feminist' left are happy with the tactic. It may work within their self-indulgent, whining ranks, but in the general, feminists like me and other normal people are going to want a president driven by logic, reason, and compassion. No matter how much whining Gloria Steinem does about 'gender' politics, this is about who we can trust and who is going to keep us safe and that ain't Hillary, the woman, who along with her husband, opened the door to September 11th.

Good News: Robin Wright and Sean Penn Divorcing

His reputation regarding his treatment of women has never been good. I've watched that beautiful woman's face change through their marriage, and it wasn't a glow of happiness. Now their children are in their mid-teens, perhaps she finally felt she could get out with the least amount of harm to their children.

Good for her. At dinner tonight, have a toast to her future without that MalNar Ball-and-Chain Sean Penn.

Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn Divorcing

Sean Penn and wife Robin Wright Penn are divorcing, their rep, Mara Buxbaum, confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. No other details were immediately available. The couple, who've been married 11 years, have two children together, Hopper Jack, 14, and Dylan Frances, 16.

Oh, Defamer has what they say may be video of their break-up fight. Hmmm....

Saudi "King" Reportedly Pardons Rape Victim

Which, of course, still reinforces the idea that being a rape victim isa crime which requires a pardon. All of these men--the so-called royal family and the stoneage Wahhabists, are nothing more than beasts.

Saudi king pardons rape victim: report

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has pardoned the victim of a gang-rape whose sentencing to 200 lashes caused an international outcry, a Saudi newspaper said on Monday.

The daily al-Jazirah cited Justice Minister Abdullah bin Mohammad al-Sheikh as saying the king alone had the right to issue pardons if it was in the public interest...The 19-year-old Shi'ite woman was abducted and raped along with a male companion by seven men last year in a case that has drawn criticism from around the world. [With the glaring exception of the American feminist establishment, as silent on this as they've been with the Sudanese teddy bear teacher case--ed.]...

The Supreme Judicial Council last month increased the sentence to 200 lashes and six months in prison and ordered the rapists to serve between two years and nine years in prison...

If confirmed, the pardon would represent a rare occasion where Saudi rulers have publicly challenged Saudi Arabia's hardline clerics, who have wide powers in society according to a traditional pact with the Saudi royal family.

Last Minute: On Fox by Phone at 9am PT re NOW's Abandonment of the British Teacher

That's in 4 minutes folks. They just called me about NOW's just released 'statement' about the British teacher in Sudan facing lashes and prison over her students naming a Teddy Bear "Muhammad." NOW's position? They're not taking one. That's right, they're not taking a stand. As you can imagine, I have plenty to say. It will be on the phone, and then I immediately start Tammy Radio.

Here is more coverage.

Sudan Charges British Teacher With Insulting Religion

KHARTOUM, Sudan — Sudan on Wednesday charged a British teacher with insulting religion and inciting hatred, a crime punishable by up to 40 lashes, six months in prison or a fine, after she named a class teddy bear "Muhammad."

The charges come a day after a 7-year-old Sudanese boy said Gilliam Gibbons, 54, asked him as part of a school assignment what he wanted to call the stuffed animal and he said, 'Muhammad,' after his name.

A spokeswoman for the National Organization for Women said the situation "is definintely on the radar, and N.O.W. is not ignoring it.

But she added that the U.S.-based organization is "not putting out a statement or taking a position."

Radio personality Tammy Bruce, former president of the Los Angles chapter of the National Organization for Women and past member of their board of directors, criticized the organization for not taking a stand.

“We have a duty to make a difference for women around the world,” Bruce told FOX News. “The supposed feminist establishment is refusing to take a position in this regard because they have no sensibility of what is right anymore. They're afraid of offending people. They are bound by political correctness.”

“The American feminist movement has not taken one stand to support the women of Iraq, the women of Afghanistan, the women of Iran,” she said. “It is the United States Marines who have been doing the feminist work by liberating women and children around the world.”

The Saudis Defend Lashes and Prison for Gang Rape Victim

LauraBushSaudi02.jpg

Laura Bush's friends explain why the 19-year-old rape victim deserves 200 lashes and 6 months in jail.

Saudis back sentence of 200 lashes for gang rape victim

SAUDI Arabia yesterday defended a court's decision to sentence a woman who was gang-raped to 200 lashes. The 19-year-old Shiite woman and an unrelated male companion were abducted and raped by seven men in 2006.

Ruling according to Saudi Arabia's strict reading of Islamic law, a court originally sentenced the woman to 90 lashes and the rapists to jail terms of between ten months and five years. It blamed the woman for being alone with an unrelated man.

But last week, the Supreme Judicial Council increased the sentence on the woman to 200 lashes and six months in prison...The ruling provoked rare criticism from the United States, which is trying to persuade Saudi Arabia to attend a Middle East peace conference in Maryland next week. A state department spokesman told reporters "most [people] would find it relatively astonishing that something like this happens".

What will our punishment be for being so weak-willed, and completely supportive of a nation that does this to women? Shame on Laura Bush as well as the so-called American "feminist" establishment. May they all have nightmares at night.

Did She Run Out of Hijabs?

Trick or Treat!

Frances Townsend and Karen Hughes, both having since resigned their positions, defaming women by donning the hijab at a Washington event. The pandering of these powerful governmental women to the Stone Age misogyny of Islamists was insulting and nauseating. Disgusting, both of them and reflective of the cowardice of the entire Bush administration.

Finally, someone who really should resign from her job in the Bush admin, has. Adios Kathleen. Don't let that burqa hit you on the way out.

Bush Homeland Security Adviser Resigns

Fran Townsend, the leading White House-based terrorism adviser who gave public updates on the extent of the threat to U.S. security, is stepping down after 4 1/2 years.

President Bush said in a statement Monday morning that Townsend, 45, "has ably guided the Homeland Security Council. She has played an integral role in the formation of the key strategies and policies my administration has used to combat terror and protect Americans."

Her departure continues an exodus of key Bush aides and confidants, with his two-term presidency in the final 15 months. Top aide Karl Rove, along with press secretary Tony Snow, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and senior presidential adviser Dan Bartlett, have already left.

Hillary Sexualizes Debate Attacks Against Her

Well, "attacks" is a bit strong. The debate, like all the others, were bunch of men auditioning for one job or another in their perceived Clinton administration. But it was Clinton's response to the jabs that draws my interest. It was coy and sexualized (frankly, two things that don't enter my mind when it comes to Hillary Clinton), and an indication of what she thinks will give her an edge in a campaign against men.

Clinton Gets No Love in Democrats Debate

In the City of Brotherly Love, there wasn't much for a sister.

Hillary Rodham Clinton's rivals ganged up on her during a two-hour Democratic presidential debate Tuesday night, putting the front-runner on defense on issues ranging from Iraq and Iran to Social Security and whether she would be electable in the general election.

Gone was the Clinton who laughed off their answers and joked about how she's lucky to be getting so much attention from all these men at her age.

Terrific. After decades or Establishment Feminism (and proof of its leftist failure), we have Laura Bush in the Middle East legitimizing the murderous oppression of women there as "traditional" and "cultural," and we get Hillary Clinton here at home acting like she's on a first date during a presidential debate. Disgusting, both of them.

This follows remarks about Clinton from Mitt Romney which he preceded by noting that he was sure she was a "lovely person." First of all, would he ever consider prefacing remarks about a male opponent with the word "lovely"? I don't think so. Now if we had Larry CRaig in this race, I might be answering differently. Bottom line (so to speak) we all know Hillary Clinton and we all know she's not a 'lovely' or a nice person. Yet, it is this sort of chivalry that Clinton hopes will keep her male rivals from engaging in well deserved and direct attacks against her.

Every serious candidate, in facing Clinton, must not view her as woman--they must view her as Medusa and proceed accordingly. Any candidate, like Romney, who falls into the gentility trap, will indeed be at a serious disadvantage. Clinton, too, in her effort to subtly sexualize attacks on herself is a ridiculous a cynical attempt to play the Gender Card, if you will. But it is a strategy which for her will also backfire--after all, if she can't withstand as a person rhetorical debate and attack, how could she survive attacks against herself and this nation by international tyrannical beasts who murder women in their nations as casually as most people say Hello?

We need a Leader in the White House, not a coy Wife.

50, Even 60, Isn't Fatal

madonna2.jpg

Madonna, now in her 50th year, and not being kicked to the back of the tour bus

For anyone who would let themselves go and make the excuse it's because we're menopausal, or "getting old," or "we can't/don't have to compete anymore," or "life is made for the Under-50 set." And for every 29-year old out there panicking bout turning 30: Get over it! Take good dose of this, the subject of whom is now 49, and will be in her 60th year as her deal ends:

Madonna reportedly near $120 mil record deal

LOS ANGELES - Madonna intends to sign a $120 million recording and touring deal with live entertainment promoter Live Nation Inc. and leave her longtime record label at Warner Music Group Corp., a person familiar with the contract negotiations said Wednesday...

Under terms of the proposed deal, Madonna, 49, would receive a signing bonus of about $18 million and a roughly $17 million advance for each of three albums, the person said. A portion of the compensation would involve stock, the person said...Live Nation also would have to pay $50 million in cash and stock to promote Madonna’s tours, according to the Journal, which broke news of the deal on its Web site Wednesday afternoon.

I'm not a fan, to say the least, of everything Madonna does, but you have to give her credit as a woman and performer who understands how to adapt and remain relevant and powerful in an industry not known for being kind to women of any age. Kudos to her and the message a deal like this sends to every woman, especially as it comes on the heels of the Warner Bros. decision to excise women (all women) from the lead of any of its films.

Warner Bros. Reverts to 19th Century, Decides Islamists Are Right

caveman.jpg

Women have no place in the lead of anything.

Warner's Robinov Bitchslaps Film Women; Gloria Allred Calls For Warner's Boycott

This comes to me from three different producers, so I know it's real: Warner Bros president of production Jeff Robinov has made a new decree that "We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead". This Neanderthal thinking comes after both Jodie Foster's The Brave One (even though she's had big recent hits with Flightplan and Panic Room) and Nicole Kidman's The Invasion (as if three different directors didn't have something to do with the awfulness of the gross receipts) under-performed at the box office recently...

But now the official policy as expressly articulated by Robinov is that a male has to be the lead of every pic made. I'm told he doesn't even want to see a script with a woman in the primary position (which now is apparently missionary at WB). Oh yeah, the fact that so many Warner Bros movies have been sucking at the box office for the last two years is all the fault of females. (Then again, Robinoff's poorly performing Superman Returns starred a girlie-man.) [...]

Woo hoo. You go girl!

Verizon Reverses Self, Will Allow Pro-Choice Text Messages

Yesterday I noticed the news that Verizon had refused the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) the right to set up text messaging for its supporters. As all of you know, I'm pro-choice, but wherever you stand on the issue, this should outrage you. This isn't about abortion rights--it's about a corporation refusing, arbitrarily, a 'allow' a certain group, a certain message, to have access to public phone lines. NARAL or anyone else who sets up text messaging is also only reaching out to people who ask to receive the texts. It's for subscribers. Just like if you don;t subscribe to Vogue, it's not just going to show up at your house. For Verizon to refuse their request was outrageous.

Fortunately, the news this morning is Verizon has reversed itself. Or, I should say, the people at Verizon have reversed themselves (let's not make this an event only involving hardware). So at least now I won't have to find a new wireless carrier for my laptop. For now.

Verizon Wireless to allow abortion rights messages

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless will allow an abortion rights group to set up a text message alert system for its subscribers, after initially refusing the request based on what the company called an outdated policy against unwanted messages, a spokesman said on Thursday.

The second-largest U.S. mobile phone carrier had denied a request from NARAL Pro-Choice America to set up text message alerts for subscribers who sign up for notices with a number known as a short code..."The decision not to allow text messaging on an important, though sensitive, public policy issue was incorrect, and we have fixed the process that led to this isolated incident," Verizon Wireless spokesman Jeffrey Nelson said in a statement....Other major U.S. wireless carriers have agreed to allow NARAL to set up a group text messaging system...

Newsflash: Stalking T-Shirt Not Funny

stalkingtshirt.jpg

T-shirt isn't funny to stalking victims

It's just a little T-shirt. Gray with white and fuchsia writing. But its message was a slap in the face to the woman who called me Thursday after seeing it in her local Wal-Mart.

"Some say it's stalking, I call it love."

For the past two years, this woman has been stalked until she feels like a prisoner in her own life. She has been spied upon, bullied and threatened with her life..."It's reprehensible," said the woman, whose story is well documented but who asked not to be identified for fear that her stalker might retaliate.

"People don't realize how serious stalking is," she said. "You constantly live in fear, look over your shoulder and suffer from psychological and physical symptoms due to the stress of the stalker."

She wondered aloud: What's next? "Some say it's rape, I call it hot sex"? Or: "Some call it domestic violence, I say I'm just teaching her a lesson"?

And this in 2007. In Wal-Mart. Sheesh.

Forbes Wonders If Women 40+ Are Sexy Enough

sexcity.jpg

Case in point, according to Forbes, the new "Sex and the City" film which features the women who starred in the series, all of whom are now in their 40s, or in Kim Cattrall's case, early 50s. This fact alone may doom the film. Their theory? There are already so many women 40+ out there in Entertainment Land, the market may be "saturated" condemning the movie to flophood. I kid you not. Apparently, that "saturation" concept doesn't apply to old, white, pasty men 40+ or to every other cultural framework being swamped by 20-something little girls.

Nope, there's only so much room for 40-something women, and you better not have too many. Which, btw, is not a very savvy marketing or programming concept, considering the fact that women now comprise 60% of the consumer base, and we 40-something-plus are the generation in control of society, politics, and the economy. And yes, believe it or not, we don't mind seeing ourselves portrayed, especially as hot and sexy. Which we are. To hear this backward, parochial 1950s concept regurgitated by a young woman (the Forbes talking head) in 2007 is, to say the least, disheartening.

Unfortunately, to watch this little Forbes segment, they subject you to some commercials. But take a look, just to keep an eye on the new spin.

Oh Goody--Bravo's 'Work Out' Renewed for a Third Season

warner.jpg

Jackie Warner. Well, yessiree, no argument here.

Work Out, the Bravo semi-reality series focusing on fitness trainer Jackie Warner, has been renewed for a third season.

Yes, there's lots of lesbian drama, and it's even more fun when offered by a bunch of very attractive, fit gay women. It is a guilty pleasure, and hopefully will bring into vogue the idea that lesbians can be determined, confident, focused, smart, attractive, sexy and amusing. Which, in completely honesty, is not always the case.

So, Yippee!

I have to admit, one of the most fun parallel-track things about Work Out, are the recaps of each show from a reviewer at Afterellen.com known only as "bad machine." It's got to the be funniest, most accurate and entertaining recaps of a show I've ever read in my life. In addition to enjoying the show itself, bad machine will make me laugh about the whole thing again, sort of like having leftovers, which very often are better that second time around. Here's bad machine's recap of the 2nd episode from the 2nd season. Priceless.

Not sure of the exact start date of Season 3, but don't worry, I'll keep you covered.

Estrich: I'm Old, Bitter and Dateless

Frankly, those are the only messages you get from her latest column. And what a shame, because she also illustrates how ridiculous the 'feminist establishment' truly has become while simultaneously reinforcing the stereotype that feminists are simply bitter and jealous.

Fred Thompson's Trophy Wife

Fred Thompson, would-be presidential candidate, is 64 years old and looks it. His wife, Jeri, is two years younger than one of his daughters and looks even younger than her 40 years.

This term is generally used to refer to women who are substantially younger, less wrinkled, and sometimes, but not always, more accomplished than the old model. The old model was there when the guy was nobody, offering him support, cleaning the house, and giving birth to the children who are now older than the new edition...

The reaction I hear from every woman I know, those who have gotten sick to their stomachs over seeing middle-aged men cavorting with girls barely beyond their teen years, is a giant "yuck."

What does it say about a man who's busy having babies only two years after being diagnosed with lymphoma? What does it say that he'd rather be with someone who wasn't even alive when JFK was shot, or at least was too young to remember where she was?

What does it say that he doesn't care that she doesn't remember the songs and the history and the fears we grew up with? Where does it leave those of us who do?

Dateless is where. And maybe voting no.

Silly me--I thought the feminist movement was about making sure women could make the choices that best suited them, which very well might include marrying a man you love, who also happens to be handsome, rich, famous and powerful.

Yeah, that Jeri Thomson, what a bitch. Or just maybe, Susan, you're 'dateless' because you're an older, bitter resentful woman. And that, at any age, makes a woman remarkably ugly.

Iran Religious Police Now Beating Women in Public

iranwoman2.jpg

Gateway Pundit has the story and images exposing what happens to women who defy the Islamist dress code--they get brutally beaten. (HT LGF). I have been arguing for years why it is authentically feminist and progressive to argue for a military liberation of that nation, and this situation, among so many others, reinforces my conviction. But, of course, today's leftists are neither feminist nor progressive as they seethe and fume and argue for a complete abandonment of the women who are beaten, imprisoned, murdered and disappeared not only in Iran, but throughout the barbaric Islamist world.

iranwomanattacked.jpg

I suppose when the world, even the United States, gives you a pass for murdering innocent civilians worldwide, beating up and murdering your own women becomes that much easier.

Stoneage effing barbarians.

Islamic Dress Codes: Prescribed or Proscribed?

A post by Maynard

Here's an interesting article about trends of dress in the Islamic world. There are tensions between secularists and traditionalists, but the odd point is that the battling viewpoints tend towards authoritarianism and violence. That is to say, either they're going to make women dress such-and-such a way, or they're going to prohibit women from dressing in such-and-such a way. The extremists squeeze out the potential for peaceful co-existence and individual choice.

In almost every other part of the Muslim world, controversy over female headgear is growing. Turkey and Tunisia are at one end of the Muslim spectrum; both ban female civil servants, as well as students in state schools, from covering their hair. One Turkish judge was nearly assassinated after decreeing that teachers could not wear scarves even on their way to work. But in Saudi Arabia and Iran, the rules go the other way. No woman may appear in public with more than face and hands exposed.

Currently in Iran:

Police are busy with their annual spring campaign against "bad hijab", prowling parks and stopping traffic to enforce dress codes. This year's drive is the strictest for a decade. Thousands of women have received warnings; police cars have been parked outside shopping malls, scrutinizing every customer; vehicles with improperly clad ladies at the wheel have been impounded. The crackdown also targets men in short sleeves or with extravagantly gelled hair.

Why Authentic Feminism Is Still Important

Because it's not just Islamists who are stuck in the Dark Ages.

Moore blames women for 'banal' TV

British TV standards are deteriorating because the BBC is "run by women", astronomer Sir Patrick Moore has said. The Sky at Night host also described female newsreaders as "jokey" and called for separate channels to cater for the needs of the different sexes.

The presenter said: "The trouble is the BBC now is run by women and it shows soap operas, cooking, quizzes, kitchen-sink plays. You wouldn't have had that in the golden days."

"I used to watch Doctor Who and Star Trek, but they went PC - making women commanders, that kind of thing. I stopped watching...I would like to see two independent wavelengths - one controlled by women, and one for us, controlled by men."

The 84-year old Moore should be told that the BBC is actually run by a man, Peter Fincham, and its mediocre programming is what you get for government-sponsored and subsequently controlled, show. And the so-called news coverage? Embarrassingly biased and juvenile due to leftists who happen to be both women and men.

Oh, at the risk of ruining the curmudgeons day, someone also alert him to the fact that we have things called "dishwashers" for the kitchen, and shoes for women. Bottom line, I think if we were to scratch the surface of the old man we'd probably find a few women who made him feel, well, less than in charge.

State Dinner for the Queen of England

Queen elizabeth II.jpg

Queen Elizabeth II

Here are the guest list and the menu, because, shockingly, we weren't invited to hob and nob with Queen Elizabeth II.

When I think about it, I preferred watching 24, shopping for new kitten items for tomorrow, and eating my Irish Stew. While writing.

Spring pea soup with fernleaf lavender
Chive pizzelle with American caviar
Newton Chardonnay Unfiltered 2004

———

Dover sole almondine
Roasted artichokes, pequillo peppers and olives [shouldn't that be "artichokies"??--ed.]
Saddle of spring lamb
Chanterelle sauce
Fricassee of baby vegetables
Peter Michael Les Pavots 2003

———

Arugula, Savannah mustard and mint romaine
Champagne dressing and trio of farmhouse cheeses
"Rose Blossoms"
Schramsberg Brut Rose 2004

Well, at least this time when the British were in the White House they didn't loot and burn it down . Amazing what a difference 195 years can make.

Dmadison.jpg

First Lady Dolley Madison

When you watch the video linked above, you'll learn First Lady Dolley Madison, wife of President James Madison, had to evacuate the White House as the British invaded. She risked her life to save the portrait of President Washington. It makes one wonder, would Hillary Clinton have risked her life for a portrait of Washington? To save anything of importance to this nation? When you have the answer to that you know why she can never be president. The fact that she even dares to place herself as a candidate is outrageous.

Laura Bush, on the other hand, is a woman who puts this nation above her own self interest. Which portrait would she choose to save? I would be conflicted between two; I believe there are only two men in this nation's history who were divinely placed and without whom we would not exist--President Washington and President Reagan.

One could argue President Lincoln belongs on that list, but it is arguable that someone like Grant would have found power in that sort of vacuum much earlier than he originally did. Without Washington, this nation would not have been founded, and without Reagan, after we suffered through Nixon, Ford and Carter, no one else could have lifted our nation's soul back up, let alone defeated the scourge of the Soviet Union at the same time. No one.

So whose portrait would I save? I would choose Washington, because without him we would not have had Reagan. Without Washington, we would have had nothing. All that exists rests on the shoulders of the divine influence and existence of that one man. Whose would you save from the marauding British?

You didn't know what a hero Dolley Madison was, did you? There are American women who deserve to be in the White House, including in the capacity of president. I hope someday soon there will be one on the horizon--a woman like Mrs. Madison.

Hirsi Ali and Islam's Enslavement of Women

An excellent profile by Caroline Glick of Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been published in the Jerusalem Post. Almost without exception, those publicly challenging the misogynist brutality of Islam are women. Not so long ago, the collective oppression of blacks by whites in South Africa was deemed to be a worldwide concern, and acted on. Yet the public and horrific enslavement of women by Islam is not only never really discussed, it is ignored or excused as "religious." Yes, just like apartheid was "cultural" as opposed to racist.

Fortunately, there is a Ayaan Hirsi Ali who keeps reminding the world of the complicity of doing nothing, and Caroline Glick, who tells the stories of anonymous women and girls who bear the burden of brutal savagery unleashed in the name of "religion."

Hirsi Ali's challenge to humanity

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is arguably the bravest and most remarkable woman of our times.

To understand why this 37-year-old woman is extraordinary, she must be assessed in the context of the forces pitted against her in her twin struggles to force the Western world to take note of Islam's divinely ordained enslavement of women, and to force the Islamic world to account for it.

A series of incidents this week placed the forces she battles in stark relief. Sunday Muslims shot up the Omariyah elementary school in Gaza. One man was killed and six were wounded in the onslaught. The murderers attacked because the UN-run school in Rafah had organized a sports day for the children, in which little boys would be playing with little girls...

An excellent and important piece. Obviously, read the whole thing.

The Result of the American "Feminist" Movement

In other words, not feminist at all, but quintessentially leftist: that pit where the dignity of women is sacrificed on the altar of multiculturalism. Pelosi's visit to Syria did more than encourage a murderous dictator, her wearing the hijab legitimizes and honors the world's most entrenched oppression of women--the Islamic man's insistence (in the name of 'religion') that women are too dangerous, too dirty, too ungodly, to be allowed to be seen in their entirety in public.

Great work Nance. Now if you would just come over to my house and do my dishes, make the bed, and wash my feet, we'll be batting 1000.

pelosi.jpg

Disgusting. Hypocritical. Backward. Pathetic. I think that begins to cover my thoughts on the matter. Last time I checked, modern, authentically progressive women (and men) demand the backward buck up and adjust to civilized society, not the other way around. When a 'feminist' woman Democrat lAmerican lawmaker decides to lower herself 9and consequently all American women) to emulate men whose rules reflect 5th century barbarism, there'
