Get the Message Out: Cathy McMorris Rodgers for House Republican Conference Chair!
by Tammy on November 12, 2012A post by RuBegonia Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers represents the state of Washington’s 5th Congressional District . In 2004 after serving 5 terms in the state legislature, she was elected to the U.S. Congress and recently won re-election by a comfortable margin. Last Thursday, Cathy put in her official bid to become Chair of the House Republican Conference (she currently holds the position of Vice Chair). This would place her in the chamber’s number 4 GOP leadership slot (behind the speaker, majority leader, and whip) and preserve her standing as one of the most influential women in “the other Washington”, i.e. DC. In an open letter to her colleagues, Cathy made this commitment: “We must continue to put forward a bold...

Swing States Poll: Women Push Romney Into Lead
by Tammy on October 15, 2012Obama’s asinine ‘War on Women’ meme has been rejected and instead has turned into a war by women–against the destruction waged by Obama, his gestapos and cronies. Good work Girlfriends, now let’s keep it going! Via USA Today & Gallup. Mitt Romney leads President Obama by four percentage points among likely voters in the nation’s top battlegrounds, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, and he has growing enthusiasm among women to thank. As the presidential campaign heads into its final weeks, the survey of voters in 12 crucial swing states finds female voters much more engaged in the election and increasingly concerned about the deficit and debt issues that favor Romney. The Republican nominee has pulled within one point of the...

Pakistani Schoolgirl Hero Shot by Taliban, Out of That Cesspool, Now in London
by Tammy on October 15, 2012Since the attack happened it’s been clear that girl needed to be out of that dump. Now she is, but London is also full of Islamist savages. In my humble opinion, the best place for her is here but this is a good first step. In the picture with the article you can see the kind of security she has. Glad England is taking this seriously. Pakistani girl shot by Taliban lands in U.K. A teenage Pakistani activist shot in the head by the Taliban arrived in the United Kingdom on Monday for more specialized medical care and to protect her from follow-up attacks threatened by the militants. CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reports from the Pakistani capital of Islamabad...

Ann Romney Likens Obama Team’s Post-Debate Reaction To Petulant Child Losing Game In Sandbox
by Tammy on October 10, 2012And she’s absolutely right. How refreshing it’s going to be to have a First Couple in the White House who love this country and treat us with respect. Via Mediaite. Appearing on America’s Newsroom this morning, Ann Romney told host Martha MacCallum that the Obama campaign has acted in poor sportsmanship for labeling her husband a liar following his debate victory last week. Asked what she thinks of the recent charges that Mitt Romney lied his way through the debate, the GOP candidate’s wife responded: “Lied about what? This is something he’s been saying all along. This is what he believes. This is his policy. This is his statement.” She then likened the Obama campaign’s post-debate reaction to a sore...

Stacey Dash Defends Romney Support On Piers, Tells Naysayers ‘Do Your Homework’
by Tammy on October 9, 2012Fabulous job by actress and Romney-supporter Stacey Dash on Piers Morgan tonight. She notes that she’s chosen Romney not based on the color of his skin, but on the content of his character. Well done! Here’s the video via Mediaite. On Tuesday night, Piers Morgan invited actress Stacey Dash — of Clueless fame — to discuss the recent frenzy spurred her tweeting support for Mitt Romney. While the backlash surprised her, Dash said she wasn’t offended. And that she genuinely believes Romney deserves a chance to help the country. “The idea that you as a black actress would come under such venomous attack purely” for picking a candidate is “extremely objectionable,” Morgan said. We’re all entitled to our own opinions,...

Pentagon Easing Restrictions on Women in Some Combat Roles
by Tammy on February 9, 2012Considering the nature of today’s warfare, women have been and are now on the front lines. In addition to allowing Americans who happen to be women to fight for their country, this means opportunity for higher pay and promotions. There are still ridiculous limitations, like banning women from Navy SEAL Teams (sometimes smaller size can be very, very useful boys!) but it’s a good step and about time. When I’ve posted about this issue before TAMs had big differences of opinion. Let’s make sure we keep the fighting (if there is any) within the respectful realm 🙂 The Pentagon will maintain bans on women serving in most ground combat units, defense officials said Thursday, despite pressure from lawmakers and female...

Showing Nothing Yet Saying Everything–Marilyn Monroe’s Famous Nudes
by Tammy on October 29, 2011A weekend treat 😉 A vastly more complex woman than most realize, the commentary along with these photos give you a bit more insight into the woman. Here’s a series of pics shot by photographer Lawrence Schiller during filming of 1962’s ultimately unfinished “Something’s Got to Give.” Monroe would be dead just four months after the pics were shot, and the film abandoned. In some little known trivia, after Monroe was fired from the film they hired Lee Remick to replace her. Dean Martin, the film’s co-star had leading lady approval, and refused to continue without Monroe. A version of the film ultimately made it to the big screen in 1963 titled “Move Over Darling,” starring the wonderful Doris Day...

Arizona Smart Girls Leading The Way
by Artgal on April 8, 2011Since May of 2009, Jennifer Leslie has organized monthly meet and greets to help spread the word about Smart Girl Politics in Arizona and introduced the public to new candidates. She has given a forum to everyone from state officials to town council candidates and was very instrumental in introducing Ruth McClung and Jesse Kelly when they announced their respective congressional campaigns in May of 2009 – the very first Tucson meet and greet. After the primaries of 2010, Leslie began focusing on outreach beyond meeting candidates. She began providing empowerment sources for members. In September, a self-defense meet and greet with Michael Francis, owner of Tucson’s L.O.S.T. (Last One Standing Tactics), a personal protection company, was offered. In November 2010, Smart Girl Politics became the first...

Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79
by Tammy on March 23, 2011A remarkable woman who provided a new definition for women (and some men!) of glamour and independence. May she rest in peace. Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79 Surrounded by her four children, the screen legend passes away of congestive heart failure early Wednesday morning in L.A… “My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love,” her son, Michael, said in a statement to ABC News. “Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and...

Panel: End Ban on Women in Combat
by Tammy on January 14, 2011I’ve argued for this for a very long time. Some of you disagree, but it’s time we stop limiting ourselves by shutting out such a significant segment of our talent pool. And frankly, we must reject this notion that women, no matter how highly qualified must be somehow ‘protected’ from their duty as Americans. Some women are capable of being in combat units, and some are capable of being Commander-in-Chief. I do, however, have a feeling many of you will have something to say about this 🙂 Panel says women should be allowed in combat units Women should finally be allowed to serve fully in combat, a military advisory panel said Friday in a report seeking to dismantle the last...
