Feds to Spend $4.6 Million to Give ‘Emotional Wellness’ to Refugees
by Tammy on September 14, 2016After 8 years of Obama and the Clintons continuing to harass us, I think any of our money being spent on “emotional wellness” better come to us. Great piece here from Free Beacon. The Department of Health and Human Services issued a grant forecast last month detailing its plans to issue health care grants for refugees on top of government programs that are already available, such as Medicaid. “The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) invites States to...

Federal Agency To Spend $1.7 Million On Cell Phones It Won’t Use
by Shifra on July 1, 2016But no money for veterans’ healthcare? Got it. Via Federal Times. A recent review of the Department of Interior’s mobile devices showed the agency is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on unused phones and tablets. Further, poor device management policies mean those that are being used suffer from security weaknesses. According to an inspector general report released June 29, Interior spends $16.5 million annually on procurement and support of its 35,576 devices. Auditors investigated four bureaus — Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Geological Survey — and discovered they spent upwards of $605,000 a year on more than 1,500 unused devices…. The report notes the review only covered the four bureaus...

Feds Spend Eight Years And $300M To Develop *Useless* Software
by Shifra on June 8, 2016But Feds have no money to improve waiting time for vets’ medical care? Got it. Via Daily Caller. Social Security Administration (SSA) officials spent $300 million over an eight-year period developing a new disability case processing software that is useless, according to the SSA Office of Inspector General (IG). The SSA began in 2008 seeking out alternatives for processing disability cases more efficiently and cost-effectively by combining multiple case management systems into one. Eight years later, what little the agency has developed through contractors is so useless SSA might be better off sticking with its old management systems, the IG found…. SSA didn’t consider sticking with its “legacy” systems when developing a new one became too complicated and costly, the...

Congress Provides $1.6B to Resettle Illegal Immigrants Arriving at Border Through 2018
by Tammy on December 17, 2015Courtesy of the Republican-controlled Congress. And they wonder why Trump and Cruz are doing so well. Via Free Beacon. A massive appropriations bill expected to be approved by Congress would provide more than $1.6 billion to resettle illegal immigrants arriving at the U.S. border through 2018. Congress would award the massive check to the government just as the U.S. is experiencing a surge in arrivals of immigrant children at the southern border. Last week, federal agencies said they were opening two temporary shelters with 1,000 beds in South Texas to cope with the surge. A 400-bed shelter is also to be opened in Southern California. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Office of Refugee Resettlement at the Department of...

Why Did Feds Spend $7,540 For Cell Phones On POTUS Ethiopia Trip?
by Shifra on August 11, 2015The Secret Service is supposed to have sophisticated and secure communications when POTUS travels. So, why was this money spent on cell phones? And, who used them? Via Weekly Standard: When the president of the United States travels, the White House and the Secret Service bring along a tremendous amount of communications equipment. Not only does the Secret Service set up a command post to coordinate communications for the visits, but secure connections are also needed for the president to keep in touch with Washington and the military around the world in case of emergencies. Despite all of these arrangements, however, a total of $7,540 was spent for foreign-made cell phones for President Obama’s recent trip to Ethiopia…. It remains...

by Shifra on March 10, 2015Gina McCarthy, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, seemed clueless when she was asked about global warming predictions. But hey, Global Warming Climate Change is a “science fact,” so we don’t need no stinkin’ numbers! Via Weasel Zippers: Hilarious: EPA Chief Gina McCarthy Says Climate Change Is A “Science Fact”; Can’t Verify Predictions Are Accurate During an Environment and Public Works Committee hearing, head of the Environmental Protection Agency Gina McCarthy defended the EPA’s request for an $8.6 billion discretionary budget (a 6 percent increase) for fiscal year 2016, arguing that climate change is a “real” threat and “a science fact,” “not a religion” or “belief system.” “Climate change is real. It is happening. It is a threat,” McCarthy said....

Treasury IG: IRS Wasted $11.6M On Unused Computer Software
by Shifra on April 7, 2014Yes, more of our taxes dollars, up in smoke, hard at work. As reported in Washington Free Beacon, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has released an audit last week, and apparently, millions of dollars were spent on unused computer software. ….In response to the audit, the IRS argued it did not waste $11.6 million. The agency admitted it did not use 5 of the 11 products, and said it had “no obligation to pay for them.” However, TIGTA reported that when discussing the products with the agency, IRS management “agreed that these 11 products were paid for and were never deployed.” The IRS could not provide documentation to back up their claim, TIGTA said. The IRS could...

Government Shuts Down. People Point And Laugh.
by Tammy on September 30, 2013So the boys and girls in DC couldn’t get an agreement on the Continuing Resolution, which they keep having to pass because they haven’t passed a budget in 5 years. Tentative Debt Deal Reached?
by Tammy on July 30, 2011**NOTE: Scroll down for updates** Welcome to another episode of As the Kabuki Theatre Turns. According to numerous reports it appears as ‘tentative deal’ between Congress and Urkel has emerged. Isn’t it amazing that they come up with it just before the episode ends? I am more and more inclined to think this is exactly the outcome arranged fr4om the beginning within the establishment and the absurdity of the last 2 weeks (if not 30 years) has all been elaborate and well-rehearsed theatre. The deal also seems to be exactly what I have been predicting for weeks–meaningless. It will raise the debt ceiling by the August 2 deadline, includes the probability of tax increases and will maintain the status quo...

If You Can’t Beat ‘Em…
by Maynard on June 29, 2011A post by Maynard We cover a lot of turf here, big stuff and small. But it seems to me there’s nothing bigger (or should I say, more important) than the debt. That’s the self-inflicted wound that’s going to do us in first. Soon enough our tax payments won’t even pay the interest on what we borrowed yesterday. Aside from the practical impossibility of servicing endless trillions of dollars, there’s an overwhelming moral objection to the deficit. It’s our responsibility to give the next generation a clean start. Instead we’re selling them into servitude to pay for today’s cronies and boondoggles. And the people doing this argue that they’re acting under a moral imperative. The claim is absurd beyond belief....

Lawrence O’Donnell – Budget Fixing Can Wait Until 2nd Term
by Pat_S on April 6, 2011It’s simple and obvious. The Democrats are the ones playing games with the budget. MSNBCs Lawrence O’Donnell explains the strategy on ‘Morning Joe’. From a liberal point of view attacking the Ryan budget isn’t demagoguery, it’s a gift falling in Democrat laps to win Obama a second term. That’s what is more important to the Democrats who evidently share O’Donnell’s opinion there’s plenty of time to fix the budget in 2014. The president will not be able to say anything positive about Ryan’s proposal, not a thing. It’s much too radical from a Democratic perspective for them to say anything positive about it. It will be the new target. Asked if the President will come forward with his own ideas about fixing...
