Elementary School Bans Valentine’s Day Cards And Candy Over “Cultural Equality Issues”
by Tammy on February 14, 2013Oh yeah, and because of federal candy regulations. Not. Kidding. Via Todd Starnes at Fox News. Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine’s Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy. Parents of students at Salemwood Elementary School in Malden, Mass, received a letter informing them of the policy – that impacts not just Valentine’s Day – but all holidays. “We have many different nationalities, cultures and languages spoken,” Principal Carol Keenan told Fox News. “Because of that we don’t honor specific holidays.” Keenan said she did not want some students feeling left out. “This is done with all good intentions – to have all students be accepted,...

Magic Beans And The Giant
by Pat_S on December 12, 2012In the world of fairy tales, Jack, an impetuous boy, obtained magic beans that led to an encounter with a giant. Jack not only slew the giant, he took the giant’s treasure including the hen that laid golden eggs. In real life, the giants usually win and keep all the gold. We shall see if that holds up next year when the Supreme Court hears the case of Bowman vs Monsanto. The corporate giant Monsanto sells genetically modified soybean seeds that are resistant to Roundup, an herbicide manufactured by Monsanto. Monsanto makes a lot of money selling the seeds and they have a patent on them. The farmer who buys the seeds is obligated to buy new seeds for every...

by Tammy on November 21, 2012**Bumped up from last year ** Cranberry Sauce is my expert dish for Thanksgiving. Here is the best recipe, a variation by me of one used by the very excellent Paula Deen. Union Strike Kills ‘Twinkie’ Maker Hostess; 18,500 To Lose Jobs
by Tammy on November 16, 2012Great job Progs! Like parasites that feed and feed until they kill to host(ess). Pathetic and predictable, as well as a microcosmic view of what leftists and unions are trying to do to this country as a whole. Via NBC Dallas. Hostess, the makers of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, is going out of business after striking workers failed to heed a Thursday deadline to return to work, the company said. “We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” Hostess CEO Gregory F. Rayburn said in announcing that the firm had filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to shutter its business. “Hostess Brands...

Why, Hillary, Why? Cover Your Eyes: Hilz Dirty Dances Again
by flaggman on August 8, 2012**Promoted from the TAM Wire, posted by Flaggman** The Secretary of State embarrasses herself once again. A little commentary from Tammy: Noooooooo! And she coulda been the Preezy of the United Steezy! Really, here is our SecState on OFFICIAL BUSINESS behaving this way. But I guess we know once we fire her she has a chance at Dancing with the Stars. I guess she learned more from Bill than we realized, and I suppose it’s better this happens in some foreign country than in the Oval Office. Again. If this doesn’t encourage even more to make sure we’re victorious on November 6th, I don’t know what will. Imagine the difference between having this wombat as SecState versus JOHN BOLTON. I...

Here We Go: New York Health Panel Considers Wider Food Ban
by Tammy on June 13, 2012Once you allow them to do crazy things, they do more crazy things. Faster. The board hand-picked by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that must approve his ban of selling large sugar-filled drinks at restaurants might be looking at other targets. The New York City Board of Health showed support for limiting sizes of sugary drinks at a Tuesday meeting in Queens. They agreed to start the process to formalize the large-drink ban by agreeing to start a six-week public comment period. At the meeting, some of the members of board said they should be considering other limits on high-calorie foods. One member, Bruce Vladeck, thinks limiting the sizes for movie theater popcorn should be considered. “The popcorn isn’t a whole lot...

Silly Puny New York Humans! Nanny Bloomberg Says No Big Drinks For You!
by Tammy on May 31, 2012New York’s Nanny Bloomberg wants to ban sugary drinks over 16 ounces. Because we puny humans can’t think for ourselves and need politicians to tell us how big our drinks can be. So goodbye Big Gulp, Slurpee and even Starbuck’s Venti. Simply–the real message sent by ridiculous laws like this is that people can’t think for themselves and must be controlled by government. New York Plans to Ban Sale of Big Sizes of Sugary Drinks New York City plans to enact a far-reaching ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, movie theaters and street carts, in the most ambitious effort yet by the Bloomberg administration to combat rising obesity. The proposed ban would affect...

Farmers Market Sells Tainted Food In Front of USDA HQ
by Pat_S on October 8, 2011A News21 student-led investigation discovered tainted food was sold at a USDA sponsored farmers market. In fact, the farmers market is located right in front of USDA headquarters in D.C. A few blocks away, near the White House, tainted chicken with campylobacter bacteria was being sold. This is the market Michelle Obama visited two years ago promoting her healthy eating campaign. USDA Farmers Market Sells Contaminated Food One of the probes focuses on the USDA’s weekly farmers market, a popular destination for government employees and tourists to shop for fresh produce, poultry and baked goods. The agency sponsors the event adjacent to its headquarters. It’s part of a government-wide effort, led by Michelle Obama, to promote healthy eating. In fact,...

Diplomacy and Cake: Two of My Favorite Men
by Tammy on September 20, 2011I am so lucky and grateful that in my work I get to meet a wonderful cross section of people. First, meeting TAMs is the ultimate best. And whenever I meet other favorites, I make it a point to tell them I’m hugging them on behalf of all TAMs, Tea Partyers and Indie Cons My most recent meets: Ambassador John Bolton (the second time) and Charm City Cakes boss Duff Goldman (diplomacy and cake–can’t go wrong!). I had the pleasure of seeing Ambassador Bolton at Fox out here in L.A. just before my trip to NY. Here we are: I also noted on Tammy Radio yesterday Ambassador Bolton’s comments regarding the UN debate about so-called “Palestinian statehood.” He suggests the...
