by Shifra on August 5, 2018As Tammy says: I love us! Via United With Israel. American firefighters arrived in Israel to join their Israeli colleagues fighting fires ignited by Hamas’ arson terrorism. Arriving in the Jewish state under the auspices of the Emergency Volunteer Project, which operates to train and deploy international fire and rescue personnel to Israel in times of crisis, ten American volunteers are combating blazes started by Hamas’ fire kites and explosive balloons launched by Palestinians in Gaza. “Real solidarity is measured with deeds, and there’s no better way to show such solidarity than fighting shoulder to shoulder against the fires raging on the Gaza border,” announced the US Embassy in Jerusalem…. Over the past 140 days, Hamas’s ecological terrorism has burned...

Iraq’s Miss Universe Visits Israel’s Miss Universe… In Israel
by Shifra on June 12, 2018In a more “normal” world, the visit of one woman to Israel would not be newsworthy. However, last year, Iraq’s Miss Universe posed together with her Israeli counterpart on an Instagram photo, with a message about peace. And the reaction from the Muslim world was so intensely hateful that her family had to flee Iraq for the U.S. Via Times of Israel. Iraq’s representative at the 2017 Miss Universe pageant — whose Instagram photo last year with her Israeli counterpart forced her family to flee the Middle Eastern country — was cheered and hugged this week by shoppers at an iconic Jerusalem market during an extraordinary visit to Israel. “It actually felt weird — the people look like my people....

Blind Dachshund And Pit Bull ‘Best Friends’ Find Permanent Home… Together
by Shifra on June 8, 2018This has been a week filled with sad news. As Tammy just noted on Twitter: I was inclined to say 'screw this week.' Instead, I've decided to use this weekend to reflect on blessings & concentrate on the magnificence of life & the new opportunities every new day brings. — Tammy Bruce (@HeyTammyBruce) June 8, 2018 In that spirit, here is a story to remind us of love and kindness and the “magnificence of life.” Via CBS News. The unlikely duo were inseparable when they turned up at Richmond Animal Care and Control in Virginia. The two dogs were brought to...

GOP Lawmakers In Jerusalem for US Embassy Opening… Dems, Not So Much
by Shifra on May 14, 2018Not a single democrat lawmaker from the US here in Israel for #USEmbassyJerusalem. Shameful. — Arthur Schwartz (@ArthurSchwartz) May 13, 2018 GOP lawmakers, including Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Dean Heller, and Lindsey Graham, and Florida Gov. Rick Scott, were among the guests at the ceremony for today’s historic opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. Maybe no Democrats showed up because they did not want to see the pro-Trump posters plastered all over the city: Judge Jeanine Pirro: “Street Justice” — in Jerusalem: Watch the latest video at foxnews.com ICYMI: U.S. Embassy Opening in Jerusalem:

Video: Volunteer Team Repairs Home of Austin’s Bombing Victim
by Shifra on April 16, 2018Because, as Tammy says: “*This* is who we are!” HT Weasel Zippers. Via My Statesman. More than a month after 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House was killed by a package bomb while standing on his front porch, the door to his Northeast Austin home was still covered by a thin piece of plywood. Nails and shrapnel from the homemade device had penetrated the walls, and the concrete entryway was left crumbling. “Standing on that porch will give you the chills,” said Kelli Parrott, who works for a local real estate company that volunteered to repair the house. “You don’t get the grasp of it until you see it in person.” House was killed March 2 when a package left by the...

by Shifra on March 23, 2018Neat! Via Times of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces and US military ended their joint Juniper Cobra missile defense exercise this week, with live-fire tests of two anti-aircraft systems over the skies of central Israel. The exercise, which began on March 4, simulated a massive ballistic missile attack on the State of Israel, with American and Israeli troops working together to defend the country, something officials from both militaries stressed could happen in reality. “They will train shoulder to shoulder, the same way we will fight in times of crisis. It’s not just about an exercise,” Brig. Gen. Tzvika Haimovitch, Israel’s air defense commander, told reporters when the exercise began. Israel considers ballistic missiles, specifically precision-guided ones, to be one...

Schools Are Now Banning… ‘Best Friends’
by Shifra on January 17, 2018Harry Stack Sullivan was an American psychiatrist who founded the interpersonal theory of psychiatry, which emphasized the role of interpersonal relations as a fundamental determinant of personality development and psychopathology. For Sullivan, the developmental of close friendships in pre-adolescence (he called them “chums”) was crucial in the development of self-esteem and later intimate relationships. But hey, Sullivan’s ideas are soooo twentieth century. (He died in 1949). So, here’s an idea: Why don’t we just bubble-wrap the kiddies (so they won’t ever have to get a skinned knee, God-forbid) and give them all A’s (so they won’t ever have to feel bad about getting a lower grade). Via NY Post. ….Americans love reading how Europeans are superior parents…..So when news broke...
