Schools Are Now Banning… ‘Best Friends’
by Shifra on January 17, 2018Harry Stack Sullivan was an American psychiatrist who founded the interpersonal theory of psychiatry, which emphasized the role of interpersonal relations as a fundamental determinant of personality development and psychopathology. For Sullivan, the developmental of close friendships in pre-adolescence (he called them “chums”) was crucial in the development of self-esteem and later intimate relationships. But hey, Sullivan’s ideas are soooo twentieth century. (He died in 1949). So, here’s an idea: Why don’t we just bubble-wrap the kiddies (so they won’t ever have to get a skinned knee, God-forbid) and give them all A’s (so they won’t ever have to feel bad about getting a lower grade). Via NY Post. ….Americans love reading how Europeans are superior parents…..So when news broke...

Tel Aviv U. Team Find Markers To Develop Blood Test Measuring How We Deal With Stress
by Shifra on February 25, 2016When Barack Hussein is finally out of the WH, I think our stress levels will all dramatically improve… Via Times of Israel: Adult life can be stressful, and many of us are not sure what to do about it. Well-meaning advice from friends and acquaintances like “just relax!” doesn’t necessarily help because the more we try to relax, the more stressed we get when we don’t succeed. Taking a seaside vacation is not always an option. Yet the stakes are high: Chronic stress raises our risk of infection, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, arthritis and pain. A recent study by researchers at Tel Aviv University has confirmed that for many of us, stress is not something we can simply snap out...

Does The V.A. Take Suicide Seriously?
by Shifra on April 17, 2015The following story sounds like an SNL skit gone terribly bad: A depressed veteran, missing his deceased wife, felt like ending his own life, but decided to call the Suicide Hotline. And he was put on hold for ten minutes. Via ABC Action News: Veteran says he was repeatedly put on hold by veterans’ suicide hotline He put himself in danger to protect our country, but when he needed help to save his own life all he got was a recorded message. Ted Koran was thinking about committing suicide Saturday night. He reached out to the VA and the Veterans Suicide Hotline for help, but said he couldn’t get any until after he was repeatedly put on hold for up...

Did FLOTUS Just Admit Obama Regime Policies Are An Epic Fail ?
by Shifra on March 12, 2015Two weeks ago, as reported in CNS: Michelle Obama: ‘My Husband Believes Strongly’ Getting Mental Health Treatment Is ‘Sign of Strength’ – MObama told an audience …that her husband, President Barack Obama “believes strongly” that getting support and treatment for a mental health issue “isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.” “It’s time to tell everyone who’s dealing with a mental health issue that they’re not alone, and that getting support and treatment isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength,” said Mrs. Obama. “That’s something that my husband believes strongly as president, because in this country when you’re fighting an illness whether that’s mental or physical you should be able to get the help...

Open Letter to Leftist Alice Walker, Who’s “Depressed About America”
by Shifra on January 1, 2014Dear Ms. Walker: As an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal, I particularly enjoy their column “Notable & Quotable,” since their selections are usually very enlightening. So, at first, I was taken aback when they published an excerpt from your end-of-year blog: Alice Walker gives thanks to Julian Assange and Noam Chomsky. But I did find it enlightening. I had previously thought that you were just another Jew-hating, Israel-bashing second-rate writer. I mean, I remember how you begged Alicia Keyes not to go ahead with her Tel Aviv concert last summer. I’m so glad Alicia ignored you. She played to a sold-out crowd, opening with “Ma koreh, Tel Aviv?” (“What’s happening, Tel Aviv?”) and I heard she nearly brought...

Shifra Presents ==> Our Commander in Touch
by Shifra on May 26, 2013Ok, I admit it. I am suffering from a severe case of ODS. But my Derangement Syndrome extends way beyond Obama. Two sentences from Jay Carney, and I feel my usually-normal blood pressure rising dangerously. And the mere sight of David Axelrod makes me want to scream. Valerie Jarrett? Don’t get me started… But, of the many things that I cannot stand about Dear Unleader, one thing stands out. No, I am not talking about his “whistling ‘s’” (Although, now that I’ve brought it up, let me just say this about that: The Obamas are worth about ten mil. So, do you think maybe they could spring for some speech therapy? If I have to hear Mooch say, once more, that we...

Heads Up: Will The Toomey-Manchin Proposal Allow Doctors to Block Your Right to Guns?
by Tammy on April 12, 2013**Bumped up from the TAM Wire. Posted by Patricia** Considering the Megyn Kelly coverage of New York confiscating guns using this very excuse, this news is a serious problem. I’ve also mentioned to you that ObamaCare is effectively set up to facilitate the same gun confiscation. Is the Toomey-Manchin bill the key that unlocks that door? It seems as though the Fed isn’t interested at all in locking up the mentally ill (which takes an understandably high standard and, God forbid, extra work), but instead simply using this as an excuse to confiscate. Now, is anyone wondering why they’re desperate to get “universal registration”? I, too, want crazy people to not have access to guns–by being institutionalized. Being locked up,...
