Via Daily Caller: A Georgetown University Islamic studies professor has come under fire for a talk he gave earlier this week in which he offered an Islam-based defense of slavery, concubinage and non-consensual sex. Jonathan AC Brown, who serves as director of the Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown, gave his admittedly controversial speech on Tuesday at the International Institute of Islamic Thought, a Virginia-based group that has foundational ties to the Muslim Brotherhood… In the speech, and a subsequent question-and-answer session, Brown, a white convert to Islam, essentially downplayed the harshness of slavery in Islam. He also stated that American and Western society is “obsessed with the idea of autonomy and consent.” … Click through for...

If Hillary wins, we won’t have to worry about any intimidation of the Supreme Court. She will pack the SC with people who will be very happy to do her bidding. Justice Barack Obama, Justice Eric Holder, or Justice Valerie Jarrett, anyone ? Via WSJ. The WikiLeaks email disclosures make fascinating reading about the political calculations of leading progressives, and Chief Justice John Roberts may want to pay particular attention. This week’s leaks show Hillary Clinton ally Neera Tanden laying out a strategy to intimidate the Supreme Court to uphold ObamaCare. Ms. Tanden runs the Center for American Progress, the think tank that is essentially an arm of the Clinton campaign. CAP’s former chief, John Podesta, is now the Clinton...

US Magazine says Michelle looked “out of this world” in her Gucci number. Agreed: She looked like a visitor from the planet Krypton. Or something… But at least we can hope that now she is finally “proud of her country.” Via American Mirror. First Lady Michelle Obama has often been sold by the mainstream as a woman of the people. But, when Michelle co-hosted the Ellen Show, she wore a Gucci dress that cost over $4,000…. Related. Suggested monument change: “On September 11, 2011, two buildings in lower Manhattan blew up.” You’re welcome. Via Fox News. A 9/11 memorial monument is causing controversy in the small town of Owego, New York. The Islamic Organization Of The Southern Tier has taken issue with the writing on the monument, which calls the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks “Islamic terrorists.” The group is concerned that the wording unfairly paints all Muslims with the same brush and could encourage hatred toward Muslims living in the area. They are requesting that the monument instead read “terrorists” or “Al Qaeda terrorists.” Town supervisor Donald Castellucci, however, is pushing back. “I don’t live in a politically correct world,” Castellucci said. “I live in a...

Uh oh. Via Washington Times. A handwritten list of 11 herbs and spices discovered in a scrapbook owned by Colonel Sanders’ second wife may be the top-secret “original recipe” that his Kentucky chicken franchise has kept under lock and key for the last several decades, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday. Freelance reporter Jay Jones said he saw the recipe during a recent meeting in Corbin, Kentucky, with Joe Ledington, a 67-year-old retired teacher who worked as a kid for his uncle, Kentucky Fried Chicken founder “Colonel” Harland Sanders. Mr. Jones was in town investigating Corbin’s fried chicken history for the Chicago Tribune when the local tourism office arranged for him to meet the legendary restaurateur’s nephew. Shortly after shaking hands,...

Honor killings are committed by Muslim male family members against female family members, who are held to have brought ‘dishonor’ upon the family. And murder somehow restores the family’s honor. And if you find this abhorrent, Liberals might accuse you of Islamophobia. Because…cultural diversity. Via NY Post. The brother of Qandeel Baloch, whose risqué social media posts both titillated and appalled conservative Pakistan, on Sunday admitted to strangling her in a crime that reignited debate about so-called “honor killings” in the South Asian nation. Muhammad Waseem said he gave a “tablet” to Baloch to subdue her and then strangled her in their family home over the weekend. “I have no regrets,” he told journalists in a press conference arranged by...

Well, at least this time, POTUS wasn’t photographed with those 5 lb. dumbbells. And, aren’t the pink ear buds such a nice touch for the Feckless Leader of the Free World ? Via Daily Mail. Barack Obama was spotted in the middle of a workout once again – in the same Polish hotel gym where he was first spotted lifting weights two years ago sparking a security scandal. New photos show the president going from the treadmill to the spin bike Friday at the Marriott hotel in Warsaw, dressed in black with pink headphones in his ears. They look like the reconstitution of pictures that first ran in a Polish tabloid two years ago: Obama in the same gym, lifting...

Why isn’t more being done to secure the airports? Because: “Nothing bad’s happened. Yet.” Via Fox News. Under pressure to prevent people from sneaking onto runways and planes at major U.S. airports, authorities are cracking down not on the intruders who slip through perimeter gates or jump over fences, but on the release of information about the breaches. A year after an Associated Press investigation first revealed persistent problems with airports’ outer defenses, breaches remain as frequent as ever about once every 10 days â despite some investments to fortify the nation’s airfields. As Americans wait in ever-longer security screening lines inside terminals, new documents show dozens more incidents happening outside perimeters than airports have disclosed…. After discussing intrusions openly...

Gah! You know some mad scientist out there is going to want to clone it. That would be bad. Via Discovery. A pregnant Tyrannosaurus rex has been found, shedding light on the evolution of egg-laying as well as on gender differences in the dinosaur. The remains also could contain the holy grail of all dinosaur fossils: DNA. “Yes, it’s possible,” Lindsay Zanno told Discovery News, referring to genetic material that may be present in this as well as similar dinosaur finds. “We have some evidence that fragments of DNA may be preserved in dinosaur fossils, but this remains to be tested further.” What has been confirmed so far is that the T. rex, which was found in Montana and dates...

After 125 years, folks, 125 YEARS! People, this is awful. Is there nothing sacred? The toys in the Cracker Jack box are classic and fun. They require a kid using their imagination. Not everything has to be digital, in fact, the digital experience removes us from the human experience. It has its place, but really, nothing will replace getting a mood ring or a dinosaur or even a toy gun! Yes, all teeny-tiny but that’s the point. I suppose I should be grateful we still have boardgames like Monopoly. At the next TAMFest we need to have a boardgame night! Here’s the sad news from Mental Floss. After 125 years of including wrapped toy prizes in each Cracker Jack caramel popcorn...
