Adam Sandler Speedo: Sock or Nature?

Who knew? (HT Hot Air). Compared with Daniel Craig's famous speedo shot from his Bond film (obviously all Craig), this look makes one wonder...sock or nature?

Bad Girls, Then and Now

Britney and Daisy

A note by Maynard

Some observers wring their hands at the West's ever-rising tide of in-your-face depravity. Certainly a civil society has never seen anything like this before!

If it makes you feel any better, celebrity misbehavior is nothing new. Britney Spears, pictured above left, ventures into town wearing boots and a shirt but no pants. But Britney is merely following the lead of old-school feminist Daisy Duck (right), who pioneered the pantless style 'way back in the 1940's.

Life imitates art. And the more things change, the more they stay the same.

On Fox This Morning

After missing last week, I'll be on Fox again this morning for the usual 10:20am ET (7:20am PT) segment. Apparently we'll be taking a look at pictures of some presidential candidate which reveal their fashion sense (or lack of it), or if McCain is right to worry whether a certain sweater makes him look "gay." Which is why I'm wearing my black seater with the zebra collar trim.

Actually, pullover sweaters make candidates look "Jimmy Carter" which is bad. All the candidates should know that dressing with any fashion sense whatsoever will make them look gay. So the less attractive, the better. Perhaps that's Hillary's strategy.

Memorial Day Shoe Shopping, The Tammy Way

While I want Angelina Jolie, I realize that asking you to help me get her would be, well, not right and actually hopeless. If there was hope the 'not right' part would probably be ignored. Therefore, I am asking you to help me get something else. I want these shoes. Bad. Here, they are worn this evening by a very famous European actress at Cannes. It will be a well-known designer and probably from a new collection. If anyone out there knows who the designer is or can track them down, I will owe you one. You will also win the prize of all three of my books, autographed (I knew being an author would come in handy). I realize that shoes and books are very different things, but I like them both, and I hope you do, too.

I have also sent an email to Manolo, the Shoe Blogger to see if he know these shoes.

And speaking of the The Shoes...

Yes, I'm a shoe chick. Help me help you help me.

If the Amnesty Bill Passes...

Don't worry, I have a plan for Tammy Radio. Considering no one in Washington seems to have one clue what's going on in the country when it comes to the Twenty Million Amigos, I figure we can get away with adding three more.

Don, Tammy, and Nikki

Don, Moi, et Nikki (photoshop un cadeau de Kim)

Oops, that's French. But since English isn't an important amnesty issue, I suppose any language will do. And as Prozac would note anyway, Whatever.

Speaking of amigos, here's an email from a fellow that's been making its way around the internet. It's a letter to his senator asking how to turn in his American citizenship to become "illegal." This is a reaction to the senate's amnesty bill from last year, when the 'pay back taxes' concept was still around. Now with that removed at the urging of President Bush, there's even more incentive for all of us to want to become an Undocumented Amigo.

Magician Declares: Vegas Run by Gays, Jews and Americans

jubilee.jpg

And someone other than a gay man would have thought this up?

Obviously, the crowd that knows how to have the best and most fun. And hey, why doesn't he make all the Joooooz, gheys, and Americans just disappear? Oh, but then there'd be no one left to give him his own show. Silly me.

I am wondering, though, about teh ghey--was it the half-naked women in high-heels and boas that gave him his first clue?

Vegas run by gays and Jews, says magician

Swedish magician Joe Labero has provoked a strong reaction with suggestions that Las Vegas is controlled by "Jewish business syndicates, American dollar millionaires and homosexual booking agents".

As a prelude to his controversial thesis, Labero explained that he has long been close to getting his own show in Las Vegas.

"But at the end of the day it seems to be impossible - unless you are a homosexual, a Jew or an American.

"I don't mean to sound prejudiced of course, I'm just cynical. A blond Swedish Viking will have a hard time breaking through the hierarchies that control Vegas, where power rests in the hands of Jewish business syndicates, American dollar millionaires and homosexual booking agents.

"But I will get there, sooner of later," Labero told the magazine.

Those controversialist Swedish Viking illusionists!

Islamic Dress Codes: Prescribed or Proscribed?

A post by Maynard

Here's an interesting article about trends of dress in the Islamic world. There are tensions between secularists and traditionalists, but the odd point is that the battling viewpoints tend towards authoritarianism and violence. That is to say, either they're going to make women dress such-and-such a way, or they're going to prohibit women from dressing in such-and-such a way. The extremists squeeze out the potential for peaceful co-existence and individual choice.

In almost every other part of the Muslim world, controversy over female headgear is growing. Turkey and Tunisia are at one end of the Muslim spectrum; both ban female civil servants, as well as students in state schools, from covering their hair. One Turkish judge was nearly assassinated after decreeing that teachers could not wear scarves even on their way to work. But in Saudi Arabia and Iran, the rules go the other way. No woman may appear in public with more than face and hands exposed.

Currently in Iran:

Police are busy with their annual spring campaign against "bad hijab", prowling parks and stopping traffic to enforce dress codes. This year's drive is the strictest for a decade. Thousands of women have received warnings; police cars have been parked outside shopping malls, scrutinizing every customer; vehicles with improperly clad ladies at the wheel have been impounded. The crackdown also targets men in short sleeves or with extravagantly gelled hair.

Britain Denies Deal For Hostages

Uh huh. The politicians of the world must really hate the internet, especially when it juxtaposes their absurd spin with the relevant headline of the day. No deal? And I'm Jayne Mansfield in drag.

Britain suspends operations in the Gulf

Britain has suspended boarding operations in the Persian Gulf and is reviewing all procedures after the seizure of 15 of its sailors by Iran.

"For the moment we have stopped UK boarding operations," First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff Jonathon Band said yesterday...Despite the growing tensions, Britain was ready to discuss with Iran the question of territorial waters in the northern Gulf — the ostensible cause of the crisis — The Guardian newspaper reported.

In the meantime, some speculate that the cease of operations is meant to allow the Royal Navy to produce new uniforms. Apparently, the British Naval Command grew concerned with the potential of their future captive marines being humiliated when stripped by the captors so they could put on pajamas. These new uniforms will allow hostages to avoid that torturous and humiliating self-esteem reducing step. (HT and fashion design courtesy of Pat S.)
