McCain Has Blogger Conference Call

KimodoDragon.jpg

Kimodo Dragon or Tammy Peep?

And for some strange reason, I wasn't invited. Maybe that's because they think I'm like that gigantic lizard that almost bit off the foot of Sharon Stone's (now ex) husband. Or not. Morrissey at Hot Air has the details for you. Also, don't miss the comments section. Some insightful (and snarky) commentary.

John McCain held another blogger conference call, and started off talking about his effort to reach out to “areas that haven’t been able to participate” in economic expansion. The biggest lesson to be learned from the War on Poverty is that local control and local government is the key to success. Big federal bureaucracies just get in the way. He visited the Katrina-hit areas and toured the devastated areas, and later spoke about improving the response to future disasters.

On the economy, McCain says to anyone who wants to pay higher taxes: “I’m not your guy.” Spending is the problem, not revenue, including a 940% increase in earmarks over the last 12 years. He wants to keep capital-gains tax rates low in order to maintain and increase the revenue from them. “Anyone who wants to raise taxes in tough economic times lacks a fundamental understanding of economics.” [...]

McCain’s next stop will be in Arkansas, where he will make appearances with Mike Huckabee. Afterwards, he goes to Florida for some fundraising, and next week, he’ll start talking about health care and get back on the bus with the media.

Sheesh. Huckabee and a bus and 'health care.' The one way a bus can help us with health care is one that takes illegal aliens back to Mexico. When we stop paying for free health care for 20 million foreign nationals, then all of our health care costs will go down, ranging from your insurance policy to the cost of doctor visits, emergency room services and even prescription drugs. You don't even need a bus to send people back--they'll self-deport when when free medical care dries up. Somehow, though, I don;t think that's part of McCain's plan.

Chinese Admit Hacking Into Pentagon

20-something hackers say they've done it, and are often paid by the Chinese government. The Commies deny it of course, just like how there were never, ever any people camping out in Tiananmen Square. Who were eventually murdered. By the Chinese 'government.' It's nice that we continue to prop up a depraved communist regime that's at war with us. At least it gives the Chinese something to do.

Chinese hackers: No site is safe

ZHOUSHAN, China (CNN) -- They operate from a bare apartment on a Chinese island. They are intelligent 20-somethings who seem harmless. But they are hard-core hackers who claim to have gained access to the world's most sensitive sites, including the Pentagon.

In fact, they say they are sometimes paid secretly by the Chinese government -- a claim the Beijing government denies.

"No Web site is one hundred percent safe. There are Web sites with high-level security, but there is always a weakness," says Xiao Chen, the leader of this group.

"Xiao Chen" is his online name. Along with his two colleagues, he does not want to reveal his true identity. The three belong to what some Western experts say is a civilian cyber militia in China, launching attacks on government and private Web sites around the world.

And then CNN reminds us why the American public rejects the Establishment Media as anti-American and sympathetic to the enemy, wherever and whoever they are.

One hacker says he is a former computer operator in the People's Liberation Army; another is a marketing graduate; and Xiao Chen says he is a self-taught programmer.

"First, you must know about the Web site you want to attack. You must know what program it is written with," says Xiao Chen. "There is a saying, 'Know about both yourself and the enemy, and you will be invincible.'"

CNN decided to withhold the address of these hackers' Web site, but Xiao Chen says it has been operating for more than three years, with 10,000 registered users. The site offers tools, articles, news and flash tutorials about hacking.

Most Popular Conservative Grapevine Stories for 2007

Brought to you by Rightwingnews.com. This list sure gives you a sense that conservatives are just regular people, too, considering many of the posts are about sex or sexiness as opposed to politics. :) Case in point: my release of the Chick with a Gun and a Microphone pic is their #8 most viewed/linked to stories of 2007. I'm honored ;)

Congrats to SondraK-The Official (Again) Grandest Diva of All

sondrak_tammy.jpg

Official Diva SondraK, with me on Some Beach.

I want to thank all the Tammy Peeps for getting me into the Top 4 of Gay Patriot's Grande Conservative Blogress Diva 2008 competition. The official winner is SondraK, who has won before. Once a Grande Diva, always a Grande Diva. I am also honored that SondraK very generously announced that I am her honorary co-Diva. Cool. I'll take it. I am more than pleased to be with her on her Some Beach.

Yes, it's pretty cool to be nominated and be able to hold my head high, considering the boys at Gay Patriot have a Top 4 instead of a Top 3. I think that is very sweet of them and only matters to me, of course, considering I was #4. I did consider surrendering to SondraK when she was a good 1000 votes ahead of everyone, but that would have been way too French, so I decided to stay to the end, no matter what. What did it get me? It got me on a chick's lap on a beach. Not too bad.

If you are unfamiliar with SondraK, now is your chance to visit her site and see what all the fuss is about. While I'm happy for her, I probably won't help her with that damn dress she wears every year she wins...you know, the one where you have to carry the rest of the dress because there's a mile of fabric that trails behind? Yeah, like Princess Diana's wedding dress. I've suggested the simple tuxedo, with tails if that turns her on, but at least with a tux no one has to carry your clothes behind you.

Bottom line, she won. But only for 2008. Remember SondraK, 2009 is another year, and just one year away during which all the rest of us can practice being Diva-ish.

I've Been Nominated for Grande Conservative Blogress Diva 2008

Yes, only the fellows at Gay Patriot could come up with the fabulous title. As they say, it's an honor just to be nominated, but it would also be very cool to win, or perhaps just move into the double-digits :) Would it be wrong or bad of me to ask you to vote for me? Possibly, and I do feel guilty, a little, but I'll get over it, as I usually do.

Please visit and vote.

I'm checking now to see a) when the poll ends and b) if you can vote every day.

UPDATE:

This first round will end on Wednesday next week, and you can vote once a day.

Frontpagemag: Jimmy Carter's War Against the Jews

Over at Frontpage, David Horowitz's Terrorism Awareness Project has an excellent video providing the truth about the history of Israel, Arab terrorism and Jimmy Carter's lies about Jews and the state of Israel. It provides much needed historical background that we can all use as things continue to heat up in the Middle East.

Link to it here, but be warned, there are some graphic images of the results of terrorist violence.

Establishment Media Corruption Roundup

Brought to us by Randall Hoven at American Thinker. t's an astounding compendium and another example of why every Elite Establishment out there views the internet, bloggers and Commoners everywhere as the enemy.

It's Not Just Scott Beauchamp

Scott Beauchamp was the last straw. I realized that I need a scorecard to keep track of all the fallen journalists, journalistic mistakes and major and minor screw-ups in the media. I couldn't find one already made, although Wikipedia came close, so I started my own. I apologize if there is a good list already out there, but I looked and could not find.

Offenses include lying and fabricating, doctoring photos, plagiarism, conflicts of interest, falling for hoaxes, and overt bias. Some are hilarious, such as an action figure doll being mistaken for a real soldier. Some are silly, such as reporting on a baseball game watched on TV. Some are more serious...

Site Technical Update

For a few hours this evening, the site was down, or just painfully slow. The cause was a server issue with my host. It happened at just about the same time I posted "Tammy Radio Team Simpsonized." At that point, I also received some meals saying some of you were having trouble getting on or out of the Simpsonize site. The two issues were unrelated, but it was a bad time overall.

I will be reporting the Simpsons post shortly, but will not link directly to the Simpsons site in the event that does contribute to a slow down of my site because of its traffic or troubles.

So, indeed, thanks for your patience earlier.

Hawkins Interviews Sen. Ensign on Amnesty

reidensign.jpg

Your Nevada Senators, Reid, and Ensign (on top there)

I can't get any angrier than I already am about the entire Amnesty Bill sham. So just two (instead of 1,000) seething words about Ensign: Not Impressed.

An Interview With National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman, John Ensign

John Hawkins: If the Senate amnesty bill passes, Tom Tancredo has pledged to campaign against senators who vote for it. You probably know. I've set up a website called The Payback Project to do the same thing...According to Rasmussen, the public opposes this bill 2 to 1. Given all that, don't you think it's fair to say that if this bill passes, isn't it pretty safe to say that some Republican senators will lose their job as a result?

John Ensign: Well, first of all, I want to see the final version. I don't think people should judge the final version. I'm against the bill as it currently stands. But, if we can make some changes to the bill, I do believe it will be a much better bill than current law is...and it will help actually clean up some things.

[...]

The second thing is, you have to have an exit visa program...[Uh, when have illegal/legal aliens ever left the country?--ed.]

[...]

John Hawkins: John, don't the probationary Z visas start as early as immediately (after the bill is signed)?

John Ensign: I have a problem with that. I think that's one of the problems with the bill. The problem I have with the probationary Z visa part is that the probation is unlimited...if you make it probationary, make it like two years. You got two years to get the thing in place. You do want folks signing up -- having to go through a background check, having to get a tamper proof identification card so we'll know where they are, where they're working, and so that they won't get government benefits, so that they're not getting welfare, all of those things.

Uh, Senator Ensign, one of the things about the Amnesty BIll is these people get a Social security card and officially get all those benefits. And even if they didn't, what magic thing is supposed to happen to stop them from continuing to take social services illegally which is what they've been doing for decades?

John Hawkins is respectiful of Ensign, and you really must read the whole thing to get a sense of how ridiculous Ensign sounds trying to explain ahead of time why he's going to vote for this monster. The most frustrating thing for me? These people know what a piece of garbage this bill is, but they spin and spin anyway, trying to sell you a bill of rancid goods, when they know better.

Ensign is just another slimy mouthpiece for the Amnesty Bill. A pox on his house. And here is the link for John Hawkins Payback Project for Amnesty Repubs. Ensign had better be included. We need men in Washington, not Ken Dolls.

biggayal.jpg

Las Vegas Life did a story way back in 2002 about what buddies Ensign and Reid becamse after Ensign won his senate seat. Part of the lovefest of comments include:

"I reached out to him, and he to me," says Reid..."It started out cautious, but our arrangement has developed into a friendship. It's very unique. I don't know of a better relationship in the Senate."

Says Ensign: "I truly care about the man. And you could not have convinced me of that a year ago." ...So close are the two camps that a few of Reid's people were invited to temporarily move into Ensign's quarters following an anthrax scare. "Our staffs hug, they go to movies together," Ensign says. "I can't give names or positions, but two of our staffs, when they were in Las Vegas, went out dancing until about 3 o'clock in the morning. That's the kind of things that are happening."

Ensign and Reid are also enjoying each other's company, even outside the halls of Congress. "I think what happened over time is we developed a respect for each other," Ensign says. "The friendship part of it has just come from liking to be around each other. Gosh, we talk, two, three, four times every day, even occasionally on weekends.

"I would've thought that, over time, we could learn to work together. I never thought we would become friends, and we have become friends. And I can't even tell you how much better that is for both of us."

Awww...With a relationship like that, you'd think they'd be moving to Massachusetts sooner than later. And we wonder what the hell is wrong with these people. But hey! Don't you dare think they're gay! Nope, not the case. Just in case you were thinking that, for no good reason, that they share something that dare not say its name. Like Harry Reid.

The RNC Presumes Conservative Blogs Are In Their Pocket

Would that be the pocket that didn't confirm the John Bolton UN nomination, or the pocket with the amnesty bill, or the pocket where Teddy Kennedy is kept cozy? It's just very crowded in those Republican pockets these days. Too crowded for authentic conservatism, too crowded for Reagan, and certainly too crowded for us xenophobic, racist bigots who don't want to do the right thing for America. I'm just sayin'.

GOP issues rules to avoid Macaca moments

The Macaca moment has morphed into an official learning tool for the Republican establishment. It's right there, on pages 18 and 22 of an Internet guide from the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee...

Always assume you're being recorded, and always record your opponent. The blogs -- oh, scratch that -- the Republican blogs are your friends, so use them for rapid response in good times and bad.

And btw, the mainstream media are so, uh, 2006. The first stop for press secretaries, according to the guidebook, should be bloggers who can create "buzz" and inevitably trigger stories in the drippy MSM.

The guidebook, 39 pages long and distributed last week to GOP Senate campaigns, underscores attempts by Republicans to level the Web-based playing field after Democrats, in Ensign's view, leveraged their Internet savvy into electoral wins...

Remember the top blog dogs. Speaking of which, get in good with five of the best-read national conservative bloggers. The guide names names: Instapundit, Michelle Malkin, Captain's Quarters, Power Line and Hugh Hewitt. Do the same locally. Do an interview with "one friendly blogger," and interest from other local bloggers should follow.

Make blogs your first point of contact. It used to be that campaigns checked in with newspaper reporters, then everybody else. Now, friendly blogs should be the first point of contact. (The NRSC bumped the mainstream media to step eight on its nine-step plan for communicating the campaign's message to the public.)

Funny. The Repub Party machine sure expect a lot of water-carrying by certain authentic conservatives. I wonder if they've bothered to tell their target bloggers that they're going to help move the Repub line. I would expect certain bloggers to empower authentically conservative candidates, and as we know these days the Repub Machine and authentic conservatism are two very different things. Think about it: who's the head of the RNC: Amnesty Republican Mel Martinez. Yeah, I'm sure Michelle is gonna jump right into the goose-stepping line for him.

The next 18 months sure will be interesting.

"Ask the White House" Online Chat with Chertoff

Tomorrow, Thursday at 12pm ET and you, too, can submit a question for Homeland Security (hahahahahahaha!!!!!!) Secretary Chertoff. I bet you have plenty.

Here is the question I submitted for Skeletor, which is actually very simple, with a bunch of points in between. What do you think the odds are it will be chosen?

What exactly is wrong with you people?

We're at war and Chertoff is out there talking about the cost of lettuce, inferring Americans against amnesty want illegals in this country executed, and arguing for the amnesty bill; a bill which now, courtesy of the Kennedy amendment, will absolutely reward alien gang members and other illegal alien criminals, including those engaging in identity theft, with legal residency and citizenship.

To say nothing of the *one day* alloted for for the supposed criminal background checks. Read the bill--the alien gets their stamp of approval when we either get the background check back, or the end of the next business day occurs, "whichever is sooner." !!!!! Hamas operates openly in Venezuela. al-Qaida and Hezbollah run much of the drug operations in Central America, and you want to legalize every single illegal alien in this country with a one-day background check?! It takes my vet longer than that to check my kitten's fecal sample.

Truly, what is wrong with you?!?!

Simple question. Will he answer it?

I'm Experimenting With A Google Ad Strip

You've seen these before--an ad strip with links to various things and companies. By assessing words used in your blog, the machine is supposed to figure out what ads you readers are possibly interested in. Obviously, nuance, context and background are things the ad machine doesn't quite understand. I'm getting quite a kick out of the ad links it's chosen so far. Just think, now with one click you can get your "Tammy and the Bachelor and the Doctor!" movies. But what about "Tammy and the Single Girl and the Doctor (Who's Also a Single Girl)" movies? And all that Tammy Wynette stuff you've been jonsing for.

Let's hope once it has time to assess the whole site, we should see ads that you may be more customized for us, so it's worth keeping an eye on.

This first test banner is in the left hand column.

Please let me know what you think of this, as I remain on the hunt for a little extra revenue for the Tammy Blog.

Made Late by Non-Turbo TurboTax? The IRS Promises To Be Gentle

If you were jamming to get your taxes done at the last minute, you weren't the only one. It seems so many people were piling on late last night, figuring they would e-file and all would be well. Not so fast--apparently the TurboTax servers couldn't keep up and the queue got longer and longer making some of us hard working taxpaying Americans...late!

But don't worry--the IRS, in an effort to make it appear as though they care and really aren't out for your blood, won't penalize you for being late if, in fact, your lateness was caused by the TurboTax backlog.

IRS Won't Penalize TurboTax E-Filers For Server-Related Delays

A flood of last-minute tax filers swamped the servers of the company that makes the popular TurboTax and ProSeries tax software Tuesday, forcing taxpayers to wait hours for confirmation that their electronic returns had been submitted successfully.

But taxpayers will not be penalized for late returns due to the server delays.

IRS spokesman Bruce Friedland said filers who encountered delays with Intuit's servers will not be penalized if their returns rolled in late. The reprieve also extends to people who tried to file Tuesday night but could not..."THE IRS will hold affected taxpayers harmless. They will not be penalized for filing late. We will do everything we can to assist taxpayers affected by this situation," IRS spokesman Bruce Friedland told NBC4's Jinah Kim. "If people couldn't efile last night, we encourage them to file as soon as they can.

Gee, thanks. Now can you send me back all those tax dollars of mine that have paid for free illegal alien health care and the 60 million bucks we're sending to the so-called Palestinian "security services"?

I know, silly questions.

New "Flying Imams" Blog

A heads-up about a news blog called The Flying Imams which is devoted to the infamous situation and the surrounding issues of airline safety. Run by an anonymous "Captain Jack," he describes himself and the goal of the blog thusly:

Your humble scribe strives to bring you the latest information on possible terrorist threats, probes, dry-runs and just plain stupidity from the skies.

Worthy of checking out on a regular basis. Worthyof your time as well today the New York Post's commentary on the congressional effort to protect airline passengers from the increasing use by Islamics of Terrorism by Lawsuit.

A Reminder About How Things Change

The big deal, with an even bigger price tag, from 1989. Not so very long ago at all. Oh, and note the small print: the monitor and mouse are not included ;)

tandy89.jpg

And in his post, That Was the Future, Ed Driscoll brings us another reminder from way back in 1993: A commercial narrated by Tom Selleck, promising us things as farfetched as being able to get directions from a box in our car to sending faxes (!) from the beach. Amazing.

And I'm still waiting for the Jetson's flying car. When are we gonna get that?

David Limbaugh: Confronting the Donkey

We're at a point in time when we're all looking for some political clarity, and I have someone for you. As Democrats run roughshod over the president, the Bush administration doesn't think enough of itself to take charge of the situation, and other Republican leadership either saying nothing or actually siding with the malevolent Democrat leftist cut-and-run crowd, David Limbaugh is a man whose website offers his regular commentary and columns on the inexplicable situation we all face. If you don't already, with all the Usual Suspect sites we visit regularly and so much at stake, it's time to add David into our mix.

While I disagree with him on certain social issues, it's fair to say David and I, like all of us, find common ground in concern for our nation, the shocking lack of fortitude and commitment by Republicans leadership for genuine Reaganistic policies, and the unchecked power the Dems seem to be exerting over President Bush. All of these things cast a dark cloud over the future of our nation, and we must take control of the situation. David's current column is an example of his willingness to speak the truth about what we face and his clarity about the matter at hand.

Confronting the Donkey

I simply cannot believe President Bush withdrew Sam Fox's nomination for Belgium ambassador. When will he confront congressional Democrats with the same resolve he brings to the war on terror? He doesn't need to get down on their level of stridency and sniping, but he should scrap the illusion that they are operating in good faith and want to work collegially or constructively with him.

If the last six years prove nothing else, they show that Democrats are unwaveringly hostile to this administration. Bush's cordiality in return has only emboldened them to new heights of incivility...

But I am suggesting he stand up to these politicians who have made him their sworn enemy and that he go on the offense in getting his message out -- as passionately, unapologetically and relentlessly as the Democrats have. I am suggesting he challenge every one of their lies with the indignation they deserve...

Unless he [President Bush] devotes some energy toward making his case and defusing the Democrats' propaganda and slander, he'll make less headway in Iraq and the war on terror, and on domestic policy across the board. He'll do little to regain credibility with those who have bought into the lies about him, he'll further dispirit the conservative base, and the foundation for a conservative victory in 2008 will continue to erode...

Please read the entire column and distribute. David sets out what the president needs to do, and address the absolute absurdity of Defense Secretary Gates suggesting we close down Gitmo, as well as the Gonzales feeding frenzy.

David's call is a demand that Republicans, conservatives, and everyone who cares about this nation, must heed. It's a demand that we stand up and protect this nation from the nihilistic and destructive left. That we recognize the left's failure-based cult of victimhood is not in any way, shape or form a legitimate option let alone a morally superior preference.

Anti-HIllary YouTube Video

As we discussed on the show, here's the video making the news--the anti-Hillary/pro-Barak Hussein ad running on YouTube.

On Fox About Politicians Using MySpace

On my way to Fox for my usual Monday morning appearance at 10:20am ET (7:20 am PT). Today we'll be discussing how presidential candidates are using MySpace pages to promote themselves and their messages.

I hesitantly set up a page for myself a little while ago, and now love it. With my activist background, I just marvel at how powerful it is to stay in touch with people, promote a message and, if one was inclined, to organize. As the busiest website in the world, it's certainly not 'just for kids' anymore. You can check out my page my clicking on the MySpace button in the right-hand column.

Hope you can tune in.

Join My Myspace Page

Yes, I have finally capitulated and have established a Myspace page for both myself and Sydney. I invite you all to be my "friends." Sydney's page is devoted to her obsession with controlling all the world's chewies and cheese. My page is a bit less ominous than that :)

It seems like another great way to stay in touch with people. Hope to see you there.

Click here to go to my page, and for Sydney's page, go here.

UPDATE:

Well, I've been jammed with "Friend" requests which is great, but a little bit of a heads-up for everyone, especially the blog regulars. My internet guy has suggested (appropriately) that, for now, I restrict my "friends" to those who have a history on Myspace (so we can tell if they're really 'friends' if you get my drift). If you are, however, a blog regular who we recognize (like Pat or Kim), I will add you even if you start a new account. Just make sure in addition to clicking the "add" button, you send my page an email telling me who you are on the blog so we'll know to add you. Hope this makes sense. :)

More Divas Than You Can Shake a Stick At

**Bumped up--voting in "Round One" (who knew there were mutliple rounds?!) continues until Sunday.

Even after the Weblog Awards, I know your thirst for voting has not been quenched. Fortunately, Gay Patriot now has a poll up for Grande Conservative Blogress Diva. Yes, that is a title only a gay man would come up with. I have been nominated, and if you're so inclined, you can vote for me (every day ;) by clicking the link. I thought I already had all the adjectives one could hope for, but if I win this, we can add at least two more.

Unlike the Weblog Awards where we had snarky leftist blogs involved, I can truly say with this one, I'm honored to be on the list. While I have already voted for myself (with one eyebrow raised even higher than usual), I wouldn't be surprised if you get confused and dizzy--all the women nominated are great, Like Michelle, The Anchoress, SondraK and, well, Alexandra, the proprietor of the great art/politics blog All Things Beautiful and a woman with a personal portrait which compels One to gaze...and gaze. At least it does this One.

So, for whomever you vote, remember, you can always claim you participated in something with the word "diva" involved. That should liven up any conversation.

Now I must go and change into my swimsuit and high heels. And don't let me forget my sash!

Time Magazine Names Person of the Year: You! Er...Me!

timeyou.jpg

That's right. It's everyone, courtesy of the internet, blogs, YouTube, and every other internet mechanism that has allowed the regular person's voice to be heard. Funny enough, of course, we've always had a voice, but now because it can't be ignored, we get to be Time's "Person of the Year."

One of the Commenters at LGF has the perfect take on this:

Time naming 'Everyone' as the Person of the Year is the perfect ultimate liberal selection. We all win, it boosts everyone's self-esteem and no one's feelings get hurt.

And as Charles noted on Tammy Radio, at least we beat Ahmadinejad.

Last Day to Vote For Tammy Blog

The 2006 Weblog Awards

Vote for Tammy Blog as Best Media Blog

Today is the last day to vote for all your favorite blogs at the 2006 Weblog Awards. We're up for Best Media Blog, and while everyone is being trounced by the lefty content machine Raw Story, I would still like Tammy Blog to make a decent showing. So please go and vote in the Media Blog category, and all the others. You can vote daily, so even if you've already voted, you can do so again today.

I would also like you to vote for Little Green Footballs for Best Blog, primarily because a) I love them, and b) they are the blog that can keep the depraved lefty Koz Kidz from winning that vote. As of this posting, Kos is ahead. Also, for Best UK Blog, I'm taking the LGF recommendaton and voting for EU Referendum.

Tammy Blog A Weblog Award Finalist

The 2006 Weblog Awards

Vote for Tammy Blog as Best Media Blog

Well, I must say, I'm surprised and pleased. I've received an number of e-mails from readers informing me that my humble blog here is a finalist for the Weblog Awards in the category of "Best Media Blog." I guess that's because I'm a media girl.

We've been around for about a year now and this is the first award we've ever been nominated for, and it's quiet nice. It would, of course, also be cool to win, so I have not-so-humbly put the little "Weblog Award Finalist" vote button in the Radio Sideblog scribble column. Click here or on that button to go to the voting page to help Tammy Blog have a respectable showing ;) The voting closes on December 15, and you can actually vote once every day.

When you've voted in the Media Blog category, make sure you check out the main page for the rest of the categories and vote for your favorite blogs there, too. Categories include everything ranging from Best Conservative Blog, Best Liberal Blog, Best Culture Blog, Best Podcast, etc.

Now go vote and have fun.

UPDATE:

Well, the Raw Story , the tilts-to-the-left content machine, is obliterating everyone. As I noted earlier, though, let's get a respectable showing for Tammy Blog :) and for every one of your favorite blogs. The great thing about the finalist lists is they will also introduce you to blogs you may be unfamiliar with. So check out the ones you'ev never seen before.
And remember, you can vote every day. Thanks.

Two Headlines Reveal the State of the World

Brian Ross's The Blotter, perhaps unintentionally, provides a succinct commentary on the state of the world today with these two headlines, posted one after the other at the Blotter site:

German Police Release Suspected Plane Plotters

Jailed Blogger Could Spend a Year in Detention

That's right--terrorists who plot to blow up airliners and commit mass murder walk away in Germany, while a blogger in San Francisco who filmed a violent protest and refuses to hand over the footage to a judge could very well spend a year in jail.

The story out of Germany is especially disturbing and involves half a dozen Muslim men, oops, I'm sorry, half a dozen generic "people", plotting to blow up an Israeli El Al airliner out of Frankfurt airport.

Six people in Germany are suspected of planning to smuggle a bomb aboard an airplane. [Which just happens to be the official airline of Israel and would have had a majoirty of Jews on board. But let's not mention that either].

Despite the fact that investigators have indicated they found evidence that the suspects had been negotiating with a Frankfurt airport security pass holder to smuggle a bag of explosives onto a plane, five of the six were released over the weekend...

...German law permits police to hold suspects for 24 hours unless there is hard evidence to charge them or hold them longer..."This case is encouraging in that our security authorities are clearly very observant, get very close to possible [terrorist] structures and, at least so far, have succeeded in intervening early enough," Stefan Kaller, an Interior Ministry spokesman, told the AP.

The Germans are "encouraged" that they discovered a plot to mass murder Jews, and then let the perpetrators go. I feel safer already, don't you?

Blog Week in Review Now Up for Nov 3

blogweekinreview.gif

It was a pleasure for me to participate in a Pajamas Media Blog Week in Review after several weeks of being just too busy to chime in. Moderated by Austin Bay, and Glenn Reynolds, Blogger Extraordinaire at Instapundit, joins me n the discussion. The podcast is produced by blogger and Tammy Radio regular Ed Driscoll. And make sure you catch Ed on today's Tammy Radio at 1:30pm ET.

You can listen via the Pajamas site, or download it at iTunes. Both options are at Pajamas Media. Here's the outline snippet:

Prelude to a Power Change? Perhaps. Panelists Tammy Bruce and Glenn Reynolds analyze the 2006 midterm election, dissect Senator John Kerry’s “botched joke” and focus on the Internet Governance Forum which was held in Athens, Greece this week.

Austin Bay moderates; Ed Driscoll produces. Brought to you by Volvo USA.

NewsMax's 25 Most Influential Radio Hosts

newsmax.jpg

To say I'm late with this would be an understatement, but it was announced when I was on vacation and, frankly, I'm pretty jazzed about it.

I've been a radio talk show host since 1993, and it can be a pretty mercurial business. Working as a local host is difficult enough, but launching into national syndication is the riskiest thing you can do, but I'm thrilled with the success Tammy Radio has had. I do believe it's confirmation of my general political premise: there has been a new American revolution as Americans are identifying less and less with political parties, and more with being Americans first.

There will always be, of course, extremists on both sides, and while in the past we have put up with that nonsense, we've now seen the what damage the moonbats can do when left to their own devices. The Democrat Party is under the control of leftist extremist George Soros, and should simply admit it's the Socialist Worker's Party. And the Republicans, with the way they spend and their faith-based obsession with controlling private society, should rename itself the Democratic Party.

In the meantime, there is no true Classical Liberal (today's conservative) representation in the political realm; a representation that embraces the individual, the actual free market, small and limited government and the right to privacy. Those values are being expressed, however, in New Media, on talk radio and the internet. This is where the core of the American people is heard, and how we kept informed and organized to at least keep the politcos somewhat in check.

The heart of the Democrat Party is in more trouble than the Republicans when it comes to New Media in part because even there the extremists are the only voices. After having been billed as the voice of liberals, Air America collapses into bankruptcy. And "liberal" websites only spew either the party line, or even more extremist leftist rhetoric, leaving traditional Democrats out in the cold.

I know many of you are also political partisans, but even this is changing as we realize that neither party has all the answers. They actually never really have, but now, after September 11th, we're finally admitting it.

This is why the Newsmax list of Most Influential Radio Hosts is so interesting. Using a combination of radio show audience reach, as well as other mediums of influence, such as television, books,. columns, etc, you'll see a variety of individuals, with varied agendas. The question becomes, and our effort must focus on, which voices will prevail as true representatives of what it means to be American first, and all that it entails. And that, my friends, is up to you.

Ed Driscoll on IPTV

I just had the pleasure of interview Ed Driscoll on Tammy Radio. Ed has an excellent article about IPTV. While I like technology and gadgets, I'm still a shy about embracing it, and consequently need people like Ed to explain all the new events and possibilities. One of the emerging New Media events is IPTV, which is the focus of Ed's article, now at TCS Daily. Here's his briefing on it:

... I have a piece in the Robb Report's Home Entertainment magazine on IPTV, a technology being leveraged by phone companies to become players in the arena previously reserved for cable and satellite providers. Initially, it's being sold as a cheaper alternative to digital cable and satellite. But the format's long-range potential could lead to dramatic shifts in how we watch TV. For one, expect to start seeing downloadable YouTube-style TV, err, on your TV. As well as much more narrowcasting video, and... well, read the article for more.

Ebay Bans Homeschool Textbooks

They're considered 'illegal, dangerous, offensive, or potentially infringing.' Indeed, you pesky parents who think you have a right to be your child's teacher. This'll show ya!

eBay prohibits textbooks for homeschool teachers

...The policy, which is inclusive of all teachers' texts, was made known recently as those who were auctioning various books watched as their postings were deleted...Another homeschooler on the blog said she questioned eBay when her listings were cancelled.

"They told me that it fell under their heading of 'illegal, dangerous, offensive, or potentially infringing,'" she said. "What are they thinking? I have a mess of curriculum here that I can't sell, and needing money from it to buy curriculum for the new school year."

This, mind you, is the same site that has no problem selling Charles Manson and Adolf Hitler related material. But you can't have that freakish homeschooling stuff. Nah, that's from the devil!
