Madonna: It’s All About Her

She can’t have it be about Jesus, now can she? Nope. It all has to be about her, her, her. Even the crucifixion. One (myself as an example) had to wonder how a MalNar would manage to make the crucifixion about herself. Well, now we know.

File this under the “Tiny Feeling” category: That Jesus wasn’t having to imagine himself as Madonna when doing his work. A bit of a difference between the two, I’d say.

It never ends, does it? Sheesh.

    I have a thing about being age appropriate…I know she looks great for her age thanks to her trainer and plastic surgeon, but I want to say to her ‘geez, act your age’… wouldn’t it be interesting to see if she could sell a $350.00 ticket just on the merits of her singing talent alone…to evolve into a class act would be impressive…and by the way, does she thinks this stuff up herself? Silly me, of course she she she does!!!

    She really only actually learned to sing for Evita, and then promptly forgot again. I admit to liking some of her earlier stuff, but I think we all understand it’s never been about her voice.

    I interpret her imagery of the mirrored cross, not as a narcissistic indulgence but rather an artistic effort to project the original intent of Christ whose concern specifically addressed the poor. The images of third-world poverty confirm her intentions and the mirrored cross represents a desire for the observer to reflect upon their own state of conscience.

    Whether her intentions are interpreted as Christ bashing, blatant insensitivity, poor judgment, or shock art, she has this right under our constitution to express herself.

    The cartoonist who offended Muslims by drawing the prophet Mohammad received the same attention and notoriety.

    I try to create tasteful and thoughtful sculptures in my work. This shock art makes money and fame overnight but will not last past the moment.

    I know this has been mentioned on other blogs, but if Madonna really wanted to be “edgy”, she should do something to insult Islam, such as taking the stage wearing a burka in front of a huge Islamic Crescent flag, then proceed to strip to her famous bustier. I know it won’t happen, because she knows Christians don’t burn cars when their beliefs are mocked.

    Of course she has every right to express herself, and make gobs of money in the process, and we have every right to call it schtick. When transgressive art becomes the norm it ceases to be transgressive and becomes banal. It’s easy to spot nonconformists, after all; they all dress alike these days.

    Perhaps this will shed some light on Madonna’s current celebrity status: Both she and Stevie Wonder come from the same general area in Michigan. Stevie is still “claimed” by that area. But I haven’t seen the area advertising Madonna as one of its own in many years. Why drive away potential tourists?

    Dragging Christianity out of the closet again for a good smacking? Madonna, with motherhood and maturity, I would have thought you may see Christianity as a good thing – it’s not all bad, is it girl? What about Islam? Got any problems with that one? Haven’t heard you say anything about that, but could be wrong.

    I think you are giving Madonna WAAAYYYY too much credit. Shock value, pure and simple. And while she might look okay all strapped and geared up, did you see the spread she did in “W” magazine? Industrial strength support is needed.

    Madonna was always an artist of limited talent to begin with. Much in the same way a used car salesman with put a fresh coat of $99 Earl Scheib paint to make a clunker look driveable, Madonna must festoon herself with gaudy trinketry, lest she be exposed for the nasally-warbling shrew that she actually is.

    As an artist, Madonna makes an excellent businesswoman. Always has been.
