Pennsylvania Open Thread; Hillary Wins

hillarywins.jpg

Good for her.

According to Drudge exit polls show Hillary ahead, but by single digits. As we all know, however, exit polls are silly and useless. I expect Hillary to win big. I'll update this post through the evening. The polls close at 8pm ET.

3:20p PT:

CBS: Clinton, Obama Down To The Wire In Pa.

Politico: Early Exits

AP: Early Pennsylvania exit poll results

And from earlier today:

Obama prepares to spin loss as victory

Barack Obama could have had a worse Pennsylvania primary. DNA tests could have revealed Tony Rezko to be his father. David Axelrod could have absconded with $40 million from his campaign treasury. He could have bowled a 36.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, on the other hand, could hardly have dreamed of a finer time to tout her Scranton roots in one of her several home states. The seven-week gap between primary contests began with video of Obama’s former pastor shrieking that “America’s chickens have come home to roost” and ended with Obama explaining his way out of what sounded like an insult to the gun-owning, God-fearing Democrats of central and western Pennsylvania during a debate that amounted to a 3-on-1 grilling.

But instead of deteriorating into a snoozer of a Clinton blowout, polls that had her up an average of 16 percentage points in mid-March now show her up an average of just 6 points. And both camps — including a visibly energized Obama campaign in recent days — are now preparing to spin Tuesday’s results as a victory.

“I’m not predicting a win. I’m predicting it’s going to be close and that we are going to do a lot better than people expect,” Obama told the Pittsburgh radio station KDKA Tuesday.

Loser.

4:46pm PT:

One of the first indications that the Hillary win could be quite big.

CNN Political Ticker: Exit polls: Ohio v. Pennsylvania

CNN) — Pennsylvania's Democratic electorate is remarkably similar to Ohio's — a state where Clinton won by 10 points on March 4.

But a look at the exit polls shows Pennsylvania voters are significantly older than those who voted in Ohio's primary — a fact that will likely give Clinton a boost.

Twenty-seven percent of voters in Pennsylvania were over the age of 65. In Ohio, those voters only made up 14 percent of the electorate.

Seniors have consistently supported Clinton overwhelmingly and Pennsylvania is no different — she's winning 61 percent of voters 65 and over. Clinton did even better among Ohio seniors, winning 72 percent of their vote.

5pm PT:

Polls in Pennsylvania have closed. It's officially over. Thank goodness. Clinton is "dominating" her traditional groups, women, seniors, union households, those without a college degree

Obama's best groups: the black vote and extraordinary 92%, young people 58%, urban voters 69%, college grads, and upper income voters.

Independents, however, which usually go to Obama to some degree are split evenly in Penn. Not a good sign for Barack. Hillary's numbers with white men is also better than it has been.

Fox News at this point is not calling the race.

6:05pm PT

Both Fox and CNN have called the state for Hillary. Good for her Now the issue becomes, by how much. With 3% in, Hillary is ahead by 10 points. I think she'll hold that lead, and may even build on it.

Fox: Clinton Projected Winner of Pa. Democratic Primary

Hillary Clinton has won the Pennsylvania Democratic primary, FOX News projects, riding to victory with the aid of her core constituencies.

Barack Obama and Clinton, though, are carefully watching their margins to gauge success in the Keystone State. Pre-election surveys showed Clinton leading for weeks in Pennsylvania, but her margin will be critical in shaping how her flagging campaign is viewed going into the remaining nine primaries and caucuses.

With just 3 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton had 55 percent and Obama had 45 percent.

Neo-Super Tuesday Primary Post

Polls have just closed in Vermont. Fox projects Barack Hussein Obama the winner. Rove just noted on Fox this was due to the "Granola-eating anti-war liberals." Ha! Vermont is also the only race people say will be easy for Obama. All the rest of the races are too close to call for the Dems.

In exit polls, "change" is cited as more important than experience. In other words, the shiny, new thing, regardless of competence, is just fine. Personally, I think we can have both, but we have yet to see candidates who embody both. That's a problem.

McCain, of course, has also won Vermont.

Polls begin to close at 7:30pm ET in Ohio, 9pm ET in Rhode Island and Texas.

4:30pm PT:

Ohio has closed and Fox News has projected McCain the winner. Surprise. The race between Rodham Clinton and Hussein Obama is too close to call.

6:15p PT:

Huckabee is dropping out
of the race. Good riddance. McCain wins the GOP nomination. For some strange reason I'm not excited.

Hillary wins Rhode Island, is ahead in Ohio, but in trouble in Texas. Her campaign has called shenanigans on the Obama campaign for underhanded tactics at caucus sites.

6:45p PT:

McCain is giving his victory speech. I will admit the best thing about watching it is appreciating Cindy McCain, looking radiant in a fantastic yellow suit thing.

mccains34.jpg

Cindy McCain at the victory rally. That shoulder there to her right belongs to that guy she's married to.

Tomorrow, McCain will be at the White House where Bush will endorse him. From one open-borders liberal to another. Hey, this is news--the president has a hell of a lot in common with Hillary, too.

On another note, Hillary is now catching up to Obama in Texas. Her lead in Ohio has grown.

7:45pm PT:

Indeed, after closing in on Obama all night, Hillary has finally taken the lead in Texas.

7:55p PT:

CNN project Hillary as winner of Ohio! I'm excited because she's at least less dangerous than Barack Hussein Obama. Good for the people of Ohio and it's a big finger in the eye of all the Soros Dems and the Establishment Media who were desperately trying to bully her out of this race.

10:30pm PT:

So, Hillary wins Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island
. Not bad for a woman who everyone had counted out and arrogantly demanded leave the race. No matter what you think of her politics, that's sweet. The Dem race goes on, America will survive it, and whoever the Dems choose we'll have a new president in November. I truly wish Hillary wasn't such a bad candidate with policies reminiscent of the Jimmy Carter disaster. The crowd during her victory speech in Ohio was understandably ecstatic. It was sad I couldn't join in their joy.

Of the three options, I hope the general is between McCain and Clinton. Neither of them may be shiny and new, nor are either what we want, but I think it's safe to say they don't hate this nation, and aren't run by George Soros. Small gifts I suppose, but I'll take them.

Here are the delegate scorecards as of tonight.

Breaking: Romney To Drop Out

This is from unnamed sources, carried by Time and Fox News. This will in all likelihood happen in his speech to CPAC. I will carry the Romney speech on my radio program in a few minutes.

Consider this your Open Thread on the issue. I'll chime in more shortly.

The Romney campaign has confirmed that he is indeed "suspending" his campaign.

9:50am PT: Romney is now speaking at CPAC. Fox is carrying the speech as is CSPAN. I am carrying the speech on my show.

There is a big difference, btw, between dropping out of the race, and suspending your candidacy, which is what Governor Romney will be doing.

Suspending a campaign has a different meaning depending on the party.

On the Republican side, decisions on how to allocate delegates is left to the state parties.

On the Democratic side, a candidate who "suspends" is technically still a candidate, so he or she keeps both district and statewide delegates won through primaries and caucuses. Superdelegates are always free to support any candidate at any time, whether the candidate drops out, suspends or stays in.

National party rules say that a candidate who "drops out" keeps any district-level delegates he or she has won so far but loses any statewide delegates he or she has won.

Real Clear Politics has the full text of Romney's remarks to CPAC.

Romney to endorse McCain? Obviously, McCain is now the nominee, so it makes sense if you want to establish enough unity to at least not be a laughing stock as the 'alternative' to the Clinton/Obama ticket. And truly, support for the war is cited most often as the reason to support/vote for McCain. I'm still not convinced that a) he'd be any better on the war than Hillary, he hasn't after all, even defined what he would do about the larger War on Terror. Instead, he constantly reminds us he supported the surge. And?

It would be nice to hear what his plans are for the war. I'm simply not convinced, not have I seen anything from McCain that indicates he would be any more of a hawk on the war than Hillary. Besides, Hillary, as a woman, has something to prove to the military that a woman can be an effective and supportive Commander in Chief. McCain has no compulsion to prove anything.

So, right now the only argument to support McCain is to keep a man with an (R) after his name in the White House. We have that now, yet, with McCain what we'd get is a 71-year-old, angry, rage filled President Bush, who suddenly wants to shut down Gitmo and treat Islamist terrorist prisoners gently.

Yeah, sound like a great idea to me. Perhaps some of you can explain how McCain is conservative and how and why he'd be different than Hillary in the White House? I'm not one to rally around the (R) for the sake of it. Personally, I don't care about the "Republican Party" or any party. I care about the future of this nation, which needs to be in authentically conservative hands in order to survive.

Super Tuesday Open Thread

hillshirt.jpg

Not.

Feel free to use this thread for your links/commentary as the day unfolds. Many are emailing me with worries about what we do if McCain really does become the nominee. Look, let's deal with one issue at a time. Focus today on your vote and influencing as many other people as possible.

Tammy Radio today will keep you apprised of political events and happenings through the day, as well as other important news.

Just reported on Fox, an interesting point from Romney today regarding McCain. He compared the McCain candidacy to Bob Dole's in 1996, saying McCain is simply the next guy "in line," and the establishment decided it was McCain's "turn" to be the nominee. Romney noted this when asked for comment about Dole's attempts to get Rush Limbaugh to back off of his attacks on McCain.

Interesting point from Romney, and he's right. Once again, it is the establishment that has "decided" who the nominee with be and presumed we would go along to get along. Just like the amnesty bill, the American people are viewed by these dinosaurs as speed bumps on the road to control and power.

Oh yes, and remember today, God loves us, now let's go and kick some ass!

UPDATE 10:55am PT:

Drudge is reporting, without a link, that voting equipment has failed to be delivered to polling stations throughout Los Amgeles. Here we go....As soon as I get more info on this I'll bring it to you.

Also, here is a list of the poll closing times.

Blowout: Barack Wins South Carolina; Caroline Kennedy Endorses

Impressive.

Plus, Caroline Kennedy just endorsed Barack. I have to link to the scum New York Times for this, but it's worth it.

CNN: RESULTS: South Carolina

The expanse of Obama's win is extraordinary. It looks like he'll beat Billary by 28%. Remarkable.

Weekend Nevada, South Carolina Winners

South Carolina:

AP and Fox are calling McCain the winner. Which is not brain surgery at this point. He's been comfortably ahead all night, and pulling away.

Nevada:

Romney enjoyed a strong victory in Nevada earlier today and CNN has just projected Hillary Clinton the winner of the Nevada caucus.

Here's how ABC is assessing South Carolina (at the moment):

GOP Slugfest in South Carolina Primary

Reports of bad weather and voting problems plagued the South Carolina Republican primary today -- a crucial first Southern primary that could winnow and clarify the jumbled field of Republican presidential candidates.

Sen. John McCain and former Gov. Mike Huckabee are locked in a statistical dead heat in the state, according to the latest poll, with McCain at 27 percent, Huckabee at 25 percent, former Gov. Mitt Romney at 15 percent and former Sen. Fred Thompson at 13 percent.

With the GOP nomination still up for grabs, a win in South Carolina could catapult one of the men vying to be the Republican nominee to the front of the pack, with little more than two weeks left before the Florida primary on Jan. 29 and multistate Super Tuesday votes Feb. 5.

Historically the Palmetto State's GOP primary is a kingmaker -- no Republican presidential candidate has captured the White House without first winning the South Carolina primary since former President Reagan won the state's primary in 1980.

Michigan Open Thread

First exit polls have Romney nicely ahead. While I'm a Giuliani girl, I'm hoping Romney stops this idiocy of the McCain rise (or, as reader Ray in Dearbornistan has dubbed him, "Jose McKennedy"). A McKennedy loss in Michigan will at least make the Establishment Media have to work harder to lionize him.

As of 7pm ET, the numbers are: Romney 35, McKennedy 29, Huckanut 15, Ron "Crazy Uncle" Paul 10, Giuliani 4. The polls close at 8pm ET.

The Michigan Sec of State is predicting at 20% turnout, lower than in 2000 by about 300,000, which all are reporting helps Romney. Indies and Dems can vote in the Repub primary, btw, Considering only Hillary is on the Dem ballot, weird things could happen. At the same time, Dems could place protest votes as the Dems have the "undecided" optionif they don't want Hillary. If "undecided" does well, Hillary will be slightly embarrassed.

Here's the ABC News page for updates.

UPDATE:

Romney wins. Nice work Michigan. Too bad "Uncommitted" didn't beat Hillary. Now that would have been funny.

Benazir Bhutto, 1953-2007

bhutto1.jpg

**This post will be updated regularly. Please scroll down past the jump for new information**

UPDATE: al-Qaida takes responsibility.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated today in Pakistan. She was shot multiple time and then the assassin blew himself up killing 20 additional people.

Bhutto was a Muslim woman who was committed to democracy. She repeatedly stated that Islam was her religion, not her government. She believed completely it he separation of church (mosque) and state. And she had massive support in Pakistan. A woman who exemplified the fact that not all Muslims are fundamentalist maniacs. Islamist obsession with murdering her also reveals exactly how fragile the al-Qaida/Taliban death Cult really is. At the same time, this opens the door to a civil war in Pakistan. Another situation which makes us have to seriously think about who we want in the White House for the next 4 years. And whether or not President Bush has the cajones to aggressively deal with Islamists if they attempt to gain control of Paki nukes. Frankly, right this minute I'd be more comfortable with Giuliani in the White House instead of Bush.

At 3:30pm PT I will have Claudia Rossett on KABC Radio speaking about the assassination. Claudia has interviewed Bhutto and notes that while this murder is bad news for Pakistan, Bhutto was no saint. It'll be a good discussion. Hope you can join us.

Babe News Anchor Punches Cop

alycialane.jpg

Alycia Lane. Just watch out for the right hook.

Sends cop to hospital. Which may get babe sent to jail. Babe then wishes she watched more "Bad Girls" when she had the chance.

News anchor busted for punching cop

An Emmy-winning news anchor from Philadelphia is in hot water for punching a police officer here in New York, officials said.

Alycia Lane, a Long Island native who co-anchors the nightly news for a local station in the City of Brotherly Love, was arrested for hitting a female police officer in the face early this morning in Manhattan, and charged with assaulting a police officer...

Earlier this year, 35-year-old Lane made headlines when she e-mailed photos of herself clad in a revealing bikini to NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen. The images were discovered by Eisen's wife, but Lane insisted the pictures were only meant as a good-humored joke.

I don't think she'll be going where Martha went. But those pics might get her a few more smokes.

Stay away from my nuts! The Tiny Gay Squirrel says: "Wow, two Babe posts in a row. It's good to move past Huckanut rage (for a moment) to things that are really important...like Babes."

UPDATE:

Apparently Alycia used a derogatory phrase against the woman cop that a) could also be used in prison, and b) get her sent to the hospital, just after she becomes everyone's wife. For at least an hour.

Philadelphia News Anchor Alycia Lane Calls Officer 'Dyke', Lands in Jail

Alycia Lane, the evening news anchor on CBS affiliate KYW-TV in Philadelphia, was arrested on early Sunday morning in Manhattan after an altercation with a female police officer, according to the New York Times. Lane and her boyfriend Chris Booker, and another unidentified couple were reportedly traveling in a taxi through Manhattan and became upset over a slow vehicle blocking their way. Philly.com reports Lane confronted the passengers of the slow vehicle, which happened to be a group of police officers in plainclothes. [Oops.]

When one of the officers asked Lane, who was taking photos with her iPhone, to step back, the news anchor reportedly began verbally assaulting the officer. According to Philadelphia Weekly, Lane screamed at the officer, saying "I don't give a f*ck who you are, I am a reporter you f*cking dyke." Lane then punched the female officer in the face, according to the Associated Press, resulting in several lacerations and swelling. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Pilgrims Landing

The Pilgrims Landing

The last six years, while obviously exceedingly difficult for all of us, have also provided undeniable examples of why we should be the most thankful people in the world.

We have been reminded about the greatness of our country, as we face the oppression so many around the world endure. While we were exposed to the harsh reality of our mortality, we have the astounding ability, more than anyone else on earth, to actually and truly make the most of every day. We know now that tomorrow is not guaranteed, but it has made us more aware of the gifts of each day and our responsibility as Americans to promote and ensure freedom at home, and around the world.

I'm personally grateful for living in a nation with values that keep me challenged every day to become a better person. I'm grateful for living a wonderful life and being given opportunities every day to communicate with so many of you about the issues and events that shape our lives.

George Washington

President Washington

I'm grateful especially for our Founding Fathers, those few men, and the women who supported them, who took the biggest risk of all, challenging the most powerful force on earth so the United States of America could be born. They devoted themselves to an idea which continues to transform the world, and peoples lives, to this day. We are the beacon for freedom for those who yearn for it, as the pilgrims and President Washington's vision lives through each and every one of us.

I'm simply grateful for being given the awesome responsibility of being an American, and all that comes with it.

And to all the Tammy Peeps. You are an important part of my family and I will never be able to express the depth of my gratitude to you for your support and friendship.

Troops with Turkey

Our Troops Getting Their Thanksgiving Dinner

With love and salutations from all the Bruce girls--myself, Sydney and Snoopy--Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here at home, and all our loved ones in uniform. Indeed, to all those stationed around the world, furthering the hope and vision of those first brave souls who came to America searching for personal freedom, finally manifest by President Washington and the divine act of the creation of this nation.

A note by Maynard

It's worth taking a moment to read George Washington's original Thanksgiving Proclamation. It begins:

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houfes of Congress have, by their joint committee, requefted me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to eftablifh a form of government for their safety and happiness..."

Tom and Katie Sleep in Separate Bedrooms...

katie-holmes-4.jpg

br2.jpg

Breathe Right or separate bedrooms? Apparently a tough call for Tom Cruise.

Because he snores. And Angelina Jolie and I sleep in separate bedrooms because she snores. Or maybe it's because we really don't know each other. Actually, I'd have trouble breathing with Katie in my bed, too, but only at first :)

Katie blames Tom Cruise's snoring for sleeping in separate bedrooms

It's an age old problem, and many a wife has suffered because of it - but not Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes are reported to sleep in separate bedrooms, so she doesn't have to suffer his snoring.

A source told US magazine, Star: "It's a situation that works for both of them"...

"In fact, they even joke about having separate bedrooms to their friends – Katie says Tom snores, and this way she can get her beauty sleep!"

"Of course they spend time together alone at night like most married couples; after all, they conceived Suri!"

Tammy Radio on Tape Today

Sorry about the 'Best Of' program today but I seem to be battling a bit of a chest cold. It's been creeping up on me as what felt like fatigue but early this morning it was obviously an effort at a chest cold. Whenever I feel a head cold or throat issue or something else knock on my door, I'm lucky in that if I lay low even for a day and sleep whenever my body tells me to I'm able to keep it from gaining hold, ruining several days instead of just one. So, that's my plan for today.

So I'm curled up on the Tammy Couch in the Power Shack, with my java. Sydney and Snoopy are staring at me, having no clue why we're hanging out and it's not Sunday, but then Snoopy jumps on Syd's head and they're back to the chase game.

Consider this your Open Thread in the meantime, as I will now take a gander at the news that's worthy of pontificating about. Or...what I would have spouted off on during Tammy Radio.

Saturday Babe Open Thread

thompson4.jpg

Emma Thompson

Here's Emma Thompson for your viewing pleasure. Besides obviously being quite beautiful, she is one of our era's most talented writers, actors, and producers. She also happens to be a very funny woman. What a package :)

I have my final presentation at the YAF seminar this morning, and then I head back to Los Angeles for Tammy Radio Saturday. I will also be collecting Sydney and Snoopy whom, I hear, have been very well behaved boarding school guests.

Since I will be alternately at the seminar and then on the road, I offer you here a Babe Open Thread. feel free to post and comment on the issues as you see them. As soon as I get home and settled in, I chime back in. We have a few guests on the show today, including Bea the Kitten Pusher. She's the one from whom I got Snoopy, and she has a few more cuties ready for adoption. I'll have them posted in the Sadie & Sydney page before the show.

kirstenprice.jpg

Kirsten Price

I'm also scheduled to have singer/songwriter Kirsten Price on the show. Since this is radio, here's her pic so you have a 3-dimensional view of her. You think she looks good? Wait 'til you hear her music. here are a couple of comments from reviewers just to give you a sense:

"Raw, sexy, kick ass...Kirsten Price has the pipes of Janis Joplin and a truly electrifying stage presence"
- Dulci Pitagora, GO NYC Magazine

"..the down ‘n’ dirty and seriously infectious “Magic Tree” from Kirsten Price. This one writhes and slinks and grooves with a hot-breath sensuality, sort of like Fiona Apple frontin’ The Pussycat Dolls."
- Paul V., IN Los Angeles Magazine

In the meantime, go forth, post and have a great Saturday.

UPDATE: Kirsten had to reschedule. She'll be on next Saturday.

Happy Independence Day!

Have a good one everyone, as we celebrate the birthday our our great nation. As a little reminder, while we all know how to keep our human family safe on a day like this, our pets have a very different experience. Here's some advice from the Humane Society about how to make sure your Sydney and Snoopy make it through our unusually loud celebration without too much anxiety. Here's wishing a safe and happy 4th for everyone in your family.

Oh yes, and consider this an open thread, with any and all discussion fair game, for the day.

Here are some 4th of July related headlines and stories for your information and amusement, not necessarily simultaneously.

Thursday Open Thread

If you listen to Tammy Radio, you know that I will out of the loop until this evening. There is a lot happening today so I want you all to have a place where you can post your comments and chime in with any issues you see that are worth sharing.

Regarding the amnesty debacle, I recommend you checking in regularly with three sources: Michelle Malkin, Hot Air and NumbersUSA.

It's very possible, of course, Reid could shelve the bill today. The first cloture motion failed by a wide margin. The other sign Reid is ready to throw in the towel is his distancing the Dems from that trash with, "This is the president's bill. He has worked long and hard,'' Reid said. "This bill that's on the floor is not a Democratic bill..."

The only reason this bill is in such trouble is because of your passion and hard work. I watched "Saving Private Ryan" last night (again). I want to remind you what the Tom Hanks character says to Private Ryan at the end when Hanks is dying on the bridge. Almost everyone has been killed at that point, including most of Hanks' men who were there to save Ryan. And they did. Those who remain are saved by allied planes nailing the German tanks. Hanks calls Ryan over and says into his ear, "Earn this." That's something we should all do every day--we need to earn what every American has done in the past to preserve and save our nation.

Keep up the heat today, do not let up. And when this thing is killed, we will debrief and punish those who worked so hard to sell this nation and destroy to Rule of Law for votes.

On another subject...while Paris Hilton has never been a subject on this blog, I can't help but notice that she's already been released from jail, after just 3 days of a 23 day sentence. Why? She got a rash. I'll leave it to all of you to appropriately rip that to shreds. No wonder people complain of a monumentally unfair justice system. Hey, it's true. No non-celebrity or, frankly, person of color, would have been released because of a "rash." Just wouldn't have happened, and I don't make broad-based claims like this often.

So, have at it. And as soon as I get done with my commitments, I'll be right back at ya. Have a great day.

Our Opinion of Our Government, In Pictures/Open Thread Emerges

Since the Political Elite seem to have trouble understanding us about complex legislation, like the Amnesty Bill, I'm hoping I will be able to convey our opinion of them using the more simple approach of the thing called 'pictures.'

After all , I'm sure there's more than one senator who's picked up a magazine or two just for the pictures. Here now, is my effort to communicate with the way-smarter-than-us-have-everything-figured-out Washington Elite. Despite their extremely high opinion of themselves, the most recent disapproval polls (which is what they really are) make it quite clear that the vast majority of us are, uh, not happy with the arrogant, incompetent buffoons in Washington. Also, it's been a while, so please feel free to consider this an Open Thread about the amnesty bill, the debate tonight, and anything else on your mind.

Tammy Traveling Today/Hoyer Wins

Sorry about the light blogging today. Well, actually, no blogging so far, but I will check in with you later on today. Right now, I'm at the Dallas airport waiting for my connection to West Palm Beach. I'm on my way to David Horowitz's Restoration Weekend. Perhaps I'll be seeing some of you there :)

Maynard has pledged to do some posting and in the meantime consider this post an Open Thread for your Deep and Not So Deep Thoughts.

I do want to say how happy I am to see that Hoyer beat Murtha for House Majority Leader. Not that Hoyer will be perfect, but when Murtha is the alternative, almost anyone looks better. I must say, this is the kind of headline I like to see, and want to see more of for the next 24 months. Writing for The Nation, this comes from one of the Pajamas Media lefties, David Corn:

Murtha Loses--And So Does Pelosi

The vote count is in: Steny Hoyer defeated Jack Murtha 149 to 86 for the majority leader post in the House.

There's no way to spin this: this was a big loss for incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The vote wasn't close. Her ally was rejected. This reflects poorly on her. And it will be remembered by her political opponents--particularly those who want to undermine Pelosi's efforts to enact lobbying and campaign reform--that in this contest she endorsed a fellow who has long been accused of slippery ethics...

Let the implosion continue...

Jacqueline Bisset: Your Babe for the Weekend

bisset6.jpg

Man and woman do not live by politics alone. Therefore, your Babe for the Weekend is Jacqueline Bisset, who has been seen most recently in her recurring role on FX's series "Nip/Tuck." Not a TV show for everyone, and absolutely only for adults, this Tuesday night series should especially be watched with Martini in hand.

In the meantime, since every night isn't Tuesday night, get your fill with this listing of her movies which will be shown on television.

Bisset, for obvious reasons, has been considered one of the world's great beauties for most of her adult life. Her work as an actor spans over 40 years. Recently, I was in the same actor-filled room with her (I was too shy to approach, of course), with the usual gaggle of ingénues, and it was remarkable how, at 61, she was easily the most stunning woman in the room.

So, now armed with your Babe, go forth and Comment on whatever your hearts desire in this Sunday Open Thread. I will be taking Sydney to Doggie Daycare (which is one big inside dog park, or the Doggie Warehouse as I call it), doing errands and working out. Cheerio.

Tammy Out of Town--Creates Open Thread with Babe

Lena Olin

Sorry about the light blogging yesterday and today. I'm on a trip visiting the peeps at Talk Radio Network, the Tammy Show syndicator.

In the meantime, I expect to blog more tonight, but thought I would make up for my busy-ness by offering up an Open Thread with Babe. Please feel free to use this post for your Comments about various subjects. All are welcome. And I have a tiny feeling some of you you may also post about this OT Babe, Lena Olin. You always do.

Good luck and go forth.

Your Babe For the Weekend

theron8.jpg

Is Charlize Theron. I can't believe I've been so remiss when it comes to posting the Weekend Babe. So, to make up for it is this woman who, in my humble opinion, is worthy of several weekends, and then some.

That is all. Now go forth and Comment in this, your Open Thread.

Happy 4th of July!

july4th.jpg

This post will stay at the top of Tammy Blog today. Please scroll down for additional posts.

Pajamas Media has one of the best roundups of activity today, including some great audio and visual. And feel free to use this post as your Open Thread for the day. And here is some coverage of the president's remarks ar Fort Bragg today.

I know you will enjoy the birthday of our great country, and however you choose to mark it--quietly at home, with friends at a BBQ, or with your community at the fireworks show, please be careful, don't drink too much, and always reflect on why today is so special.

All in all, being proud and grateful ar a terrific combination not just for a day like today, but for everyday we enjoy as Americans.

Tammy Blog is Back

What a weekend (and Monday) Tammy Blog has had! I know most of you noticed (because you all emailed me) that something had happened to Tammy Blog. It started Saturday when incoming links started to get screwy and permalinks for posts would show up as a completely different post.

What I didn't know then was that my webhost was in the process of experiencing some kind of meltdown. And on Sunday it happened--their server crashed. So, You saw the site go up and down, up and down, and of all two days--Sunday and Monday when the president was trying to once again shake all of us rubes into understanding his friendship with Vicente Fox, I was unable to post.

I know, many of you were probably thinking I was sitting around eating bonbons watching the DVD collection of 24--but no! My webmistress Stacy and I were working feverishly to get Tammy Blog up and running.

And now here she is. You will notice a lot of work still has to happen to bring her back to her previous glory (including pouring in the pics), but it's happening. Ultimately, my host's server crash caused damage to my database for the blog, so I changed hosts (out, out damn spot!) and Stacy is now in the process of pouring the database back into the site. Cleanup is still happening. One casualty of all this may be the trackback listing, but I'm not sure yet. Old incoming trackbacks, however, should still work. Also, I'm not sure how the Comments section is. I know we still have all your Comments, but please post here so I know you're all still able to access the site and that your registration still works.

About the freakish alternative incoming trackback links: I don't think any of you who linked to my Carriers to Iran post (
