I liked that show Connections where we learned things like weaving led to computers. So it was with great fascination I read this TIME article about the voice of God bringing about the Obama Presidency. The connections go from Alexander Scourby to Paul Robeson to James Earl Jones to Barack Obama.
Some people believe Obama is himself the voice of God, but they are wrong. James Earl Jones is. God used to be British, Allah too. That goes back a few years. God might still be British if it wasn’t for Ol’ Man River and Showboat. You see, British accents used to convey dignity, authority and power but Winston Churchill got knocked off his perch by black preachers.
I feel like a gnat when I hear a rich British accent but the Brits haven’t suffered enough to be the voice of God according to today’s standards. Over the years the notion developed that suffering confers dignity and since the blacks suffered and sing plaintive songs in booming voices, it was inevitable the voice of God would become distinctively black. Obama did manage to talk himself into the White House but not because his voice is the voice of God. Obama’s voice isn’t black enough to sell cereal according to the article. It’s all in the connections. Once God became African-American, a President was not far behind.
Here’s how it goes according to master weaver Michael Kinsley:
Barack Obama and the Voice of God
In the 1950s and ’60s, god was a man named Alexander Scourby. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., of Greek immigrant parents and attended college in West Virginia, but he spoke in a “deep and resonant voice” (as Wikipedia puts it) and–here is the key point–with more than a touch of a British accent. Long after Britain had exhausted its resources in World War II and lost its empire, a British accent conveyed authority, dignity, power.
Scourby died in 1985, after at least two complete recordings of the Bible and one of the Koran. Yes, in those days, even the Prophet Muhammad had a British accent. So who is God today? The answer is clear: he is James Earl Jones.
The roots of this development go back at least to the 1930s and Paul Robeson’s singing “Ol’ Man River” in Showboat. The therapeutic notion that suffering confers dignity and authority has spread just as the suffering of African Americans over generations has become universally acknowledged. Above all, black American ministers have replaced British politicians, at least in perception, as the world’s most eloquent public users of the English language. Our homegrown Martin Luther King Jr. has knocked Winston Churchill off his perch as the ideal.
Starting Jan. 20, the most powerful person in the world actually will be a black man. Although President Barack Obama is one of the greatest public speakers now practicing that art, he probably couldn’t get hired as the anonymous voice-over spokesman for a brand of cereal because he doesn’t sound black enough. Nevertheless, he is a beneficiary of this development. When God turned into an African American, it became less unthinkable that the President might be African American as well.
So Obama is President because Darth Vader is God and we’ll just keep rollin’ along right into the abyss.
The Dems don’t think very highly of you Pennsylvanians, in case you haven’t noticed, but they expect you to vote for them anyway. Perhaps it’s time to send a message that their horrible treatment of Hillary (and now Sarah) and calling you bitter, clingy, racist, rednecked, and now Cracker, has finally cost them your vote.
Giving the state to the McCain/Palin ticket will send a couple of important messages, which is that you respect women (it would be a nice tip of the hat to Hillary, after all) and follow the lead of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and judge people not on the color of their skin but on the content of their character.

With the political arguments swirling fast and furious, here’s what I see as the bottom line on Obama.
I don’t place much faith in what a candidate says and does after declaring his or her candidacy. Once he steps into the spotlight, he’s playing to the crowd. He’s on good behavior, and he’ll tell us whatever we want to hear. This is a demonstration of his acting ability…and a politician is indeed part actor, but there’s more to the job than that. The true measure of the man is what he did with his life when he didn’t think he was being watched. That’s what you’re going to get when the candidate is in power, and never mind the speeches.
As we do with celebrities, we tend to project our fantasies onto politicians. The less we know about a person, the easier this is. With Obama’s charisma and short history, and with the sympathies of the mainstream media behind him, he’s been allowed to remain too much of a blank slate. This is slowly changing, as the reality becomes known and eats away at his mystique. Note that Obama’s greatest string of victories in the Democratic primaries came when he was a new thing. As information trickled out, he lost steam. If more facts had been on the table earlier, Hillary certainly would have been the Democratic nominee.
Our job as voters isn’t to nitpick and debate every nuance and gaffe. In a world of trivia and spin, we must seek the most essential truths and make them known.

This Slate article, Food Apartheid, is worth reading. It’s a disturbing sign of the times.
The war on fat has just crossed a major red line. The Los Angeles City Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting construction of new fast-food restaurants in a 32-square-mile area inhabited by 500,000 low-income people.
We’re not talking anymore about preaching diet and exercise, disclosing calorie counts, or restricting sodas in schools. We’re talking about banning the sale of food to adults. Treating French fries like cigarettes or liquor. I didn’t think this would happen in the United States anytime soon. I was wrong.
It’s important to note that the rationale behind this move isn’t to oppose urban clutter or limit the supply of contraband such as liquor that could have impact on others. This is, pure and simple, daddy telling baby to eat the vegetables.

The more B. Hussein is exposed as the Race Monger he is, the better.
Discriminations has the scoop.
Coming soon to a liberal, bloated, mentally ill collection of multicultural bureaucrats near you (oh, sorta like what an Obama admin will look like). This one is courtesy of another politically correct liberal nutgroup in England. (HT Marlee).
Toddlers who dislike spicy food ‘racist’
Toddlers who turn their noses up at spicy food from overseas could be branded racists by a Government-sponsored agency.
The National Children’s Bureau, which receives £12 million a year, mainly from Government funded organisations, has issued guidance to play leaders and nursery teachers advising them to be alert for racist incidents among youngsters in their care.
This could include a child of as young as three who says “yuk” in response to being served unfamiliar foreign food.
The guidance by the NCB is designed to draw attention to potentially-racist attitudes in youngsters from a young age…The 366-page guide for staff in charge of pre-school children, called Young Children and Racial Justice, warns: “Racist incidents among children in early years settings tend to be around name-calling, casual thoughtless comments and peer group relationships.” The guide goes on to warn that children might also “react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying ‘yuk’”…
Nurseries are encouraged to report as many incidents as possible to their local council. The guide added: “Some people think that if a large number of racist incidents are reported, this will reflect badly on the institution. In fact, the opposite is the case.”
The English have allowed liberals to drive them officially insane.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Tammy played a clip from Obama’s Florida fundraiser on her Saturday show.
“We know what kind of campaign [the Republicans are] going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”
Obama was working the crowd, and he got a huge snicker on that last line. Yeah, I’m running against racists who appeal to racist voters, haw haw haw.
This is an absurd twist of words. Obama’s history at the forefront of his racist, hatemongering church exposes him as the candidate favored by the real racists. His track record, as brief as it is, is thoroughly tainted. He can’t explain this away, so he changes the subject by accusing the other guy of his own crime.
It seems the unfounded accusation of future white racism is a lot more damning than the actuality of present black racism.

Can anyone explain the phenomenon of Obama? As facts come out in complete contradiction to the façade he’s created, I keep expecting his crowd to turn away in disgust. Are they too deeply invested to acknowledge damaged goods?
The Huffington Post is reporting Obama’s claim that he’s a foreign policy maven.
“Foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain.”
Is he really that smart? Hillary doesn’t think so.
“I’m somewhat shocked by that since I don’t see any evidence of it,” Clinton said, chuckling. “This is, you know, kind of hard to square with his failure ever to have a single policy hearing on the only responsibility he was given, chairing the European and NATO subcommittee on the Foreign Relations Committee.
“And as he admitted in the last debate, he was too busy running for president to pay attention to what we needed to do to improve our chances in Afghanistan and get NATO more involved. So, you know, I, I ,I don’t, I don’t know, I’m speechless. I mean, you know, making an assertion like that belies the facts and the record.”
But Obama doesn’t need all that official stuff. Obama knows people.
“…when I speak about having lived in Indonesia for four years, having family that is impoverished in small villages in Africa–knowing the leaders is not important–what I know is the people…”
If spending years in a foreign country under harsh conditions qualifies one to be president, I think McCain wins on that point. But set that detail aside and get back to the people claim, and juxtapose it against Obama’s pastor problems.
Now that the core depravity of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ is being thoroughly exposed, and after a long series of reluctant steps by Obama evolving from denial and faux bewilderment to mealy-mouthed distancing, he has finally resigned his church membership.

I kid you not. There is no other way to interpret Obama’s choice of analogy here, effectively comparing the exposure of Wright as an America-hating racist and the appropriate excoriation of the man, to the assassination of Dr. King. The following Swamp headline does get it wrong–the comparison is not of OIbama to RFK, it’s Wright to MLK, make no mistake.
Obama invokes RFK in distancing self from pastor
PLAINFIELD, Ind. – Sen. Barack Obama invoked Robert F. Kennedy on Saturday as he continued to try to distance himself from controversial statements made by his former pastor that are now widely circulating on the Internet.
“Bobby Kennedy gave one of his most famous speeches on a dark night in Indianapolis, right after Dr. King was shot,” Obama said. “He stood on top of a car.”
In reality, Kennedy, speaking in nearby Indianapolis on the night of April 4, 1968, spoke from the bed of a flatbed truck.
“He delivered the news that Dr. King had been shot and killed,” Obama continued. “At the moment of anguish, he said we’ve got a choice. We’ve got a choice in taking the rage and bitterness and disappointment and letting it fester and dividing us further so that we no longer see each other as Americans, but we see each other as separate and apart and at odds with each other…
Saying “the forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again,” Obama began to point to his own former pastor from Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago’s South Side.
“I have a dream”=”God damn America.” Great job Barack Hussein Obama. Great job and simply stunning. Let’s hope this is the beginning of the real Obama being exposed, and his undoing.
UPDATE:
Well, it seems Americans are indeed recognizing this for what it is, and rejecting Obama. His national lead among Democrats was 8 points yesterday. It has now plunged by an unprecedented 7 points overnight. Keep in mind, this drop is among his own supporters after a couple of days of Wright’s venom being exposed, and Obama’s credibility gap on what he knew and when he knew it. This highlights that despite our differences here in America, those differences are slight. Despite all our desire for change, Obama supporters also reject racist Hate America First rhetoric spewing from Barack Obama’s ’spiritual adviser’ and mentor. Good for them.
Why are these candidates smiling?

Every political organization has people and factions you don’t like. Compromised alliances are sometimes needed to get things done. America joined forces with Stalin’s Russia during WWII, even though Stalin was one of the meanest monsters ever to have walked the Earth.
When is distasteful compromise necessary and appropriate? When has a group gone “too far” and compromised “too much”?
I would argue that the wooing of Al Sharpton is a symptom of what’s gone horribly wrong in the Democrat Party. Sharpton is more than controversial. He is an evil man whose words have arguably sown seeds of mayhem and murder:
[Sharpton] came to national attention in 1987, accusing a Dutchess County assistant district attorney of being one of a gang of whites who purportedly raped black fifteen-year-old Tawana Brawley and left her smeared with excrement and swastikas. Her claims were found to be a hoax, and after the victim of his defamation won a lawsuit, a court ordered Sharpton and two co-defendants to pay $345,000. [...which he never paid; years later (in 2001), Sharpton's $65,000 portion of the judgment was paid by a group of fans including O.J. Simpson's lawyer, Johnny Cochran.]
In 1991, Sharpton spoke at the funeral of a black child in Brooklyn. The Hasidic Jews involved in the traffic accident that took the child’s life, Sharpton preached, were “diamond merchants.” Sharpton then led 400 angry demonstrators through the Jewish neighborhood of Crown Heights, a marcher at his side carrying a sign reading: “The White Man is the Devil.” A Kristallnacht of four nights of rock and bottle throwing at Jewish homes [the "Crown Heights Riots"] followed. A young Talmudic scholar, Yankel Rosenbaum, was surrounded by thugs yelling “Kill the Jew.” He was stabbed to death, but before dying, identified the man who stabbed him. This young black, apprehended with the bloody knife in his pocket, was found not guilty by a racially mixed jury during the administration of Giuliani’s predecessor, New York’s first black mayor, David Dinkins. Dinkins’ Police Commissioner, Lee Brown, declared that “Sharpton came close to the line of inciting [to riot] but did not actually cross it.”
In 1995 in Harlem, when, during a tenant–landlord dispute, Freddy’s Fashion Mart attempted to evict a black-owned record store, Sharpton organized protests against what he called a “conspiracy” by a “white interloper.” It was, as one of Sharpton’s lieutenants told protestors, a “Jewish department store.” After one demonstration, a protestor ran into the store, gunned down several employees, and set it ablaze. Seven, including Hispanics and a black security guard, died.

Shocked In Shockoe Bottom

Angry activists gathered outside a Richmond, Virginia strip club decrying abomination! and sounding alarm over the deteriorating standards in America. Prudish church ladies? No. It was the NAACP. The self-described libertarian owner of Club Velvet, Mr. Samuel J.T. Moore III, had unfurled an Obama as The Joker banner outside his building.
Mr. Moore is not the ideal champion of liberty.
The bold Mr. Moore sent one of his “dancers”, Kaitlyn McGee, out to read a statement.
The ignoramuses from the NAACP said–
Speaking for herself, waitress and dancer McGee said–
It isn’t clear from the reporting to which man she is referring. You could say that about either. In fact, I think it is a neat response to the race card. Just imagine the reaction.
There are an array of jokers in this mix at implausibly named Shockoe Bottom, but the assault on free speech is no laughing matter. No situation is too small—or too ludicrous—for the enemies of liberty.
