B. Hussein Obama in Afghanistan

Too bad he already made up his mind about policy and strategy for the region before he went. You know, the quintessential Liberal thing to do--let your feeeeeeeeeelings guide your decisions. Who needs facts?

Obama Arrives in Afghanistan to Tour War Zone

Barack Obama began his campaign-season tour of two war zones Saturday by meeting with U.S. forces stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan, where Obama says more military resources must be devoted.

The presumptive Democratic nominee arrived in Kabul early Saturday as part of an official, taxpayer-funded congressional delegation. It was his first-ever visit to Afghanistan.

Details out of the war zone are sparse, but officials say Obama visited troops at an airfield in Jalalabad, in the eastern part of the country. He heads next to Iraq...

Obama told a pair of reporters who accompanied him to his departure from Andrews Air Force Base on Thursday that, “I look forward to seeing what the situation on the ground is.

“I want to, obviously, talk to the commanders and get a sense both in Afghanistan and in Baghdad of, you know, what the most, their biggest concerns are, and I want to thank our troops for the heroic work that they’ve been doing,” he said.

Yeah, well, Barry, they've been there for seven years. You've been in the Senate for a few. You're just a tad late, but it's perfect timing for an opportunistic Malignant Narcissist.

Book for the Summer: "Touching History"

touchinghistory.jpg

I just spoke with Debra Burlingame on the Laura Show and in addition to discussing her column noted in the previous post, she recommended a book for all of us, "Touching History: The Untold Story of the Drama That Unfolded in the Skies Over America on 9/11." Written by Lynn Spencer, Debra notes it's a riveting account, immaculately researched by a commercial airline pilot (and a single mom!) who had access to everyone; FAA, NORAD, dozens and dozens of pilots. Spencer corrects the record.

In the vein of promising to never forget, this is a book that brings to us the silent heroism in the air that faced the tragic events on September 11, 2001.

Notes on the SCOTUS Gitmo Decision

Khalid Sheikh Muhammad

SCOTUS says foreign terrorist beasts like Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, the mastermind of September 11th, has the same rights as an American citizen.

I've been remiss in not posting on the SCOTUS Gitmo decision, but there's a point where the blogosphere becomes an echo chamber, with everything possible being said, said. I discussed it at length on Tammy Radio Thursday morning, but there are regular developments. For now I'll point you to the analysis at Powerline and Ed Morrissey at Hot Air.

The latest news involves Lindsay Grahamnesty fuming about how awful it is that SCOTUS has effectively ruled that an al-Qaida terrorist has the same rights as a US citizen. That is effectively the case, and it is awful, but Grahamnesty's outrage is just a tad hypocritical. Let's not forget Grahamnesty, along with McCain, rhetorically and legislatively crafted the federal notion that foreign nationals (illegal aliens in their instance) should in fact have all the rights of and even more benefits than US citizens, such as free health care and mortgages and credit cards without a credit history or even proof of identity, among other absurdities.

This is what the amnesty fight has all been about--respecting American sovereignty and taking the rights afforded US citizens seriously enough to not pass them around like a used dish rag. And now he gets angry because the slippery-slope of that precedent is benefiting other foreigners who happen to be genocidal terrorists? Astounding.

Also today, Attorney General Michael Mukasey chimed in and noted the ruling would not affect Gitmo trials.

Attorney General Michael Mukasey said the ruling would not affect the Guantanamo trials against enemy combatants, the Associated Press reported. "I think it bears emphasis that the court's decision does not concern military commission trials, which will continue to proceed," Mukasey said in Tokyo today. "Instead it addresses the procedures that the Congress and the president put in place to permit enemy combatants to challenge their detention."

Ultimately, the general assessment is it will mean the ultimate release of most of the terrorists still being held at Gitmo.

Michael Ratner, president of the Center for Constitutional Rights, a New York-based organization that has arranged free defense counsel for the detainees, said he expects to see a large number of them released in the coming months - through federal court orders or the US military's desire to transfer the cases to the detainees' home countries before US officials are forced to present evidence in court.

"A lot of these cases are just going to be gone," Ratner said. "They are not going to have the evidence, and much of the evidence is going to be based on torture or coercion [which is inadmissible in US courts]. It may even mean a death knell of Guantanamo, in terms of holding 260 people without hearings."

It will be a death knell for something, most likely untold numbers of innocent civilians, if these beasts are simply released.

John Kerry Announces War is Peace

kerryfootball.jpg

Don't ever forget how close this horse's ass got to the White House

Yes, and Slavery is Freedom and Ignorance is Bliss. Remember, in an Obama administration it is very likely this raging moron will be either Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense. Now doesn't that make you feel all warm inside?

Kerry: On Sept. 11 We Were at Peace

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) believes that on September 11 "we were basically at peace."

Asked to clarify his remarks, specifically asking about the attacks on the U.S.S. Cole during Barack Obama campaign conference call, Kerry said, "well, we hadn't declared war," The Hill's Sam Youngman reports.

Asked if al Qaeda was a threat at the time, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee said, "well yes, obviously they were a threat. But, fundamentally we were not at war at that point in time."

There are about 3,000 dead people who would very much disagree with that assessment. Keep in mind, in the Orwellian Liberal world, slavery is freedom and war is peace.

Freedom Tower Plans Found In Trash

freedom-tower-1.jpg

We can thank a homeless man for finding them and turning them in. These plans, as you can imagine, are confidential and reveal the nature of the Freedom Tower schematics. Considering we're speaking about a new building that terrorists would also want to destroy, there's a reason these support and constructions details are supposed to be secret.

That homeless New Yorker should be given a new life, help for whatever has made him homeless, medical care for addiction, money, a free apartment, whatever he needs as a thank you for coming forward with this.

Report: NYC Freedom Tower plans found in trash

NEW YORK - A homeless man has come forward with two sets of confidential ground zero blueprints that he says were dumped in a Lower Manhattan trash can.

The man brought the Freedom Tower plans to the New York Post, which says the 150-page schematic is marked: "Secure Document — Confidential."

The documents are dated Oct. 5, 2007. They contain plans for each floor, the thickness of the concrete-core wall, and the location of air ducts, elevators, electrical systems and support columns.

Never Forget: Remains of 9/11 Victims Identified

911eaglegod.jpg

May God rest their souls.

Remains of More 9/11 Victims Identified

The city has identified the remains of four more victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, including one man whose DNA was found beneath a service road that was initially paved over, officials said Monday.

Ronald Keith Milstein's remains were found beneath the road that was built to carry cleanup and construction trucks in and out of the World Trade Center site after the 2001 terrorist attacks, the city medical examiner's office said. Milstein of Queens was 54 when he was killed.

More than 400 human bone pieces have been recovered from beneath the road, which has become known as "Haul Road" because of the hauling of debris.

Also identified was Alejandro Castano whose remains were found in the Liberty Street area, the medical examiner's office said.

The 35-year-old from Englewood, N.J., was in the area that day to deliver pens and paper to a brokerage firm on the 97th floor of the south tower, his family told The Record of Hackensack, N.J.

For now, authorities are not releasing the names of the two other victims whose remains were identified. Their families will decide whether to publicly announce the names of the 52-year-old woman identified from remains found in the former Deutsche Bank building and the 59-year-old man identified from remains discovered on Liberty Street.

Former Agent: Waterboarding Saves Lives But Should be Banned

So now other people should die so this man can feel morally superior. Lovely.

Ex-CIA agent: Waterboarding 'saved lives'

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A former CIA agent who participated in interrogations of terror suspects said Tuesday that the controversial interrogation technique of "waterboarding" has saved lives, but he considers the method torture and now opposes its use...

Waterboarding begins by placing a suspect on a table with the suspect's feet slightly elevated, said Kiriakou, who was waterboarded several years ago as part of his CIA training. He said he elected not to learn how to perform the technique, which is designed to emulate the sensation of drowning.

Once a suspect is secured on the table, interrogators wrap his or her face in a cellophane-like material, Kiriakou said. "There is a bladder, or a water source, above the head with water pouring down on the mouth, so no water is going into your mouth, but it induces a gag reflex and makes you feel like you're choking," Kiriakou said. Video Watch the ex-agent describe the procedure »

Kiriakou said he lasted only a few seconds during his training because his body felt like it was seizing up almost immediately.

"It's entirely unpleasant," Kiriakou said. "You are so full of tension that you tense up, your muscles tighten up. It's very uncomfortable."

Abu Zubayda lasted a little longer, said Kiriakou, but not much.

The former agent, who said he participated in the Abu Zubayda interrogation but not his waterboarding, said the CIA decided to waterboard the al Qaeda operative only after he was "wholly uncooperative" for weeks and refused to answer questions.

All that changed -- and Zubayda reportedly had a divine revelation -- after 30 to 35 seconds of waterboarding, Kiriakou said he learned from the CIA agents who performed the technique.

The terror suspect, who is being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, reportedly gave up information that indirectly led to the the 2003 raid in Pakistan yielding the arrest of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, an alleged planner of the September 11, 2001, attacks, Kiriakou said.

Let's see, what would make us Better, Morally Superior People? Hmmm....Allowing tens of thousands of innocent people to die horrible deaths at the hands of terrorists so we don't have to endure the 'shame' of 'torturing' bloodthirsty terrorists, or...Savings tens of thousands of innocent lives by making a bloodthirsty terrorist feel 'entirely unpleasant' and 'uncomfortable.'

Gee, I'm gonna have to meditate on that one.

NY DMV Bans "GetOsama" License Plates

Get Osama!

The plates the NY DMV deems too offensive and derogatory.I have a feeling a certain 3,000 people who dies on 9-11 and almost 4,000 troops who have died since, might disagree.

Another example of how at least the New York bureaucratic elite are in the grip of the Stockholm Syndrome. I first articulated this when NY decided to alight the Empire State building in green to pay tribute to Ramadan. Now, the DMV says "GETOSAMA" the plates violate their regulation that prohibits "obscene, lewd, lascivious, derogatory to a particular ethnic or other group or patently offensive."

New York DMV Bans 'GETOSAMA' License Plates

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — Retired New York City police officer Arno Herwerth hit a major roadblock this week when he tried to dress up his ride in patriotic style.

Arno, a 21- year veteran of the NYPD, wanted to add vanity license plates reading "GETOSAMA" to the 1993 Ford Aerostar he had already hand-painted red, white and blue. But New York's DMV red-lighted the anti-Usama bin Laden plates, banning them under an agency regulation that prohibits anything "obscene, lewd, lascivious, derogatory to a particular ethnic or other group or patently offensive."

Bill Maher Ejects Truthers From Audience

Good for him.

Maher boots protester from audience

Maher was talking science during one of his weekly panel discussions when a protester in his audience stood up, held up a smuggled-in sign reading "9/11 is a cover up fraud" and shouted comments to the same effect.

The host tried to shout down the audience member, who only became more agitated. "Do we have some (expletive) security in this building," Maher yelled, "or do I have to come down there and kick his (expletive)?"

When security reached the man's aisle and the man resisted leaving, Maher ran into the seats and helped them push him out the door, shouting "Out! Out! Out!" [...] After the instigators were ejected, Maher told his panelists — MSNBC's Chris Matthews, Los Angeles Times columnist Joel Stein and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson — that they often linger outside his studio to share 9/11 conspiracy theories with him and try to get into the show.

"It's the only time I defend Bush," he said.

Fly the Flag Campaign

eagleflag.jpg

On this 6th anniversary of the attack on our great nation, one of your jobs is to email this flag campaign reminder to your lists and/or post it on your blog and any message boards you have access to. Let's make sure our nation is awash in our colors on 9/11, a reminder to all who would try to hurt us, including the enemy within, that these colors do not run.

9/11 Flag Flying

Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign.

We have just a few days to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America. If you are able please tell at least 11 people and if each of those people do the same, well you get the idea.

THE PROGRAM IS THIS:

On Monday, September 11th, 2006, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this fifth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism.
Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared.

Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan: Here is what we need you to do...
(1) Forward this message to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.Thank you for your participation.

God Bless You and God Bless America

Mark Steyn: "Where's the War?"

Where’s the War?

Oh, it’s a long, long while from September to September. This year, the anniversary falls, for the first time, on a Tuesday morning, and perhaps some or other cable network will re-present the events in real time — the first vague breaking news in an otherwise routine morning show, the follow-up item on the second plane, and the realization that something bigger was underway. If you make it vivid enough, the JFK/Princess Di factor will kick in: You’ll remember “where you were” when you “heard the news.” But it’s harder to recreate the peculiar mood at the end of the day, when the citizens of the superpower went to bed not knowing what they’d wake up to the following morning.

Six years on, most Americans are now pretty certain what they’ll wake up to in the morning: There’ll be a thwarted terrorist plot somewhere or other — last week, it was Germany. Occasionally, one will succeed somewhere or other, on the far horizon — in Bali, Istanbul, Madrid, London. But not many folks expect to switch on the TV this Tuesday morning, as they did that Tuesday morning, and see smoke billowing from Atlanta or Phoenix or Seattle...

But, in the six years since President Bush declared that America was in a “war on terror,” there has been in America no terrorism.

In theory, the administration ought to derive a political benefit from this: The president has “kept America safe.” But, in practice, the placidity of the domestic front diminishes the chosen rationale of the conflict: If a “war on terror” has no terror, who says there’s a war at all? That’s the argument of the Left — that it’s all a racket cooked up by the Bushitlerburton fascists to impose on America a permanent national-security state in which, for dark sinister reasons of his own, Dick Cheney is free to monitor your out-of-state phone calls all day long...Of course, if tomorrow there’s a big smoking hole where the Empire State Building used to be, we’ll be back to: “The president should have known! This proves the failure of his policies over the last six years! We need another all-star Commission filled with retired grandees!”

For those who have been lulled into a relative attitude that there is no war because there have been no attacks on the homeland (in part because we have foiled them, in addition to AQ being swamped by Iraq and Afghanistan), here is a video with a reminder of who we continue to fight and why.

Blog Dedication to Barbara Olson for 9/11

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Barbara Olson, December 7, 1955-September 11, 2001

For the 6th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, my blog is dedicated to Barbara Olson, as representative of all those who fell that day and all of our troops who have fought the depraved enemy in the years that have passed. Through the next week visitors to Tammy Blog will see Barbara's pic in the left hand column with a link to her wikipedia page

On another note, I began to fly my flag yesterday in remembrance of 9/11. While many of you fly the flag 365, for those of you who don't, I encourage you not to wait for Tuesday; fly it now and through the week.

'New' bin Laden Tape To Be Released Prior to 9/11

Does this bomb make my head look fat?

***Scroll for updates. Click here for the full transcript of the new OBL video. And isn't it nice we didn't have to see this freak by surprise on some internet site first? Seems like we finally got one tiny part of our act together.***

I suppose this would technically be a new tape, but the general consensus remains that bin Laden is likely dead and what we'll see in the next few days (yes, the 6th anniversary of 9/11 is already this coming Tuesday) will be old, photo-shopped, remixed, rehashed to appear new. But we'll see soon enough.

Groups: Bin Laden Plans Video on 9/11

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Osama bin Laden will release a new video in the coming days ahead of the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks in what would be the first new images of the terror mastermind in nearly three years, al- Qaida's media arm announced Thursday...bin Laden's appearance would be significant. The al-Qaida leader has not appeared in new video footage since October 2004, and he has not put out a new audiotape in more than a year, his longest period without a message.

One difference in his appearance was immediately obvious. The announcement had a still photo from the coming video, showing bin Laden addressing the camera, his beard fully black. In his past videos, bin Laden's beard was almost entirely gray with dark streaks.

Bin Laden's beard appears to have been dyed, a popular practice among Arab leaders, said Rita Katz, director of the SITE Institute, a Washington-based group that monitors terror messages... IntelCenter, which monitors Islamic Web sites and analyzes terror threats, said the video was expected within the next 72 hours, before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 suicide hijacker attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon...

Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said he could not confirm the existence of a tape, "and there is no credible information at this time warning of an imminent threat to the homeland." But he said increased activity overseas and recent arrests of militants in Germany reinforce the department's assessment that the country is currently in a period of increased risk.

UPDATE:

Osama bin Laden, D-Dearborn

L-2004 video, R-2007 video

Finally, for once it looks like we've managed to keep this maniacs drivel off the internet until we've had a chance to assess it. Apparently, the video is new and relatively recent. While the tape itself hasn't been released, a transcript has been. Elements released once again confirm that Osama sounds as much a Lefty Democrat as Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore. In addition to complaining that the Dems haven't stopped the war in Iraq, praising Noam Chomsky and lamenting Global Warming (yep) he encourages suicide bombers to attack the west. While OBL hides.

Ultimately, we think the tape is new because he refers to Sarkozy (elected in May 07) and the Dems taking control of Congress (November 06). Also, many now think the beard hasn't just been dyed, but it may be a fake beard, indicating OBL may be living in a place where Muslim men are not usually bearded. Getting rid of a beard, when your image has always been associated with one, is certain a smart way of disguising yourself. The need to do this, of course, would mean he's in a populated place with people who are not necessarily supporters.

Overall, the OBL rant is considered even stranger than usual.

...He goes on to call Noam Chomsky "among one of the most capable of those from your own side," and mentions global warming and "the Kyoto accord."

He also speaks to recent issues grabbing headlines in the United States, referring to "the reeling of many of you under the burden of interest-related debts, insane taxes and real estate mortgages; global warming and its woes..."

"To conclude," bin Laden says, "I invite you to embrace Islam." He goes on to say: "There are no taxes in Islam, but rather there is a limited Zakaat [alms] totaling 2.5 percent.”

Well, if he had only said that 6 years ago! Allah Akbar! Now where's my burqa?

And This Required A Study?

Sheesh.

CIA internal inquiry finds agency failed to prevent 9/11

WASHINGTON (AP) -- It took an act of Congress to force the CIA to lift the veil on its watchdog's internal investigation that lays out the agency's many failures in the months and years before September 11, 2001.

Three CIA directors disparaged the document. Multiple requests under the Freedom of Information Act collected dust. Finally, on Tuesday, with the clock ticking on Congress' 30-day deadline to release the report, CIA Director Michael Hayden reluctantly caved in.

Completed in June 2005, the report lays out in greater detail what has long been known: The CIA's top leaders failed to use their available powers, never developed a comprehensive plan to stop al Qaeda and missed crucial opportunities to thwart two hijackers in the run-up to September 11.

Bush Refers to 9/11 HIjackers as "Kids"

There is nothing I can say which will adequately express my utter disgust with this man. His increasing application of moral relevancy and, ironically, despite all his talk about "confronting evil with good," his contribution to the death of right and wrong (Iran's Muqtada al-Sadr is still alive and our troops die daily), condemn him.

Bush lays out case for staying in Iraq

U.S. President George Bush laid out a strong case for staying in Iraq Thursday, saying it is imperative to change the conditions in that part of the world...Bush said there has been debate over whether the danger to the United States is real.

"I strongly believe that is the case,” he said, adding that it is our job to “work to change the conditions that moved 19 kids to come on airplanes to murder our citizens. … I could not send a mother’s child into combat if I did not believe it was necessary."

My goodness, the moralistic pandering as he terms vicious, barbaric mass-murdering Islamist terrorists "kids." Have a drink Mr. President, maybe it'll bring you back to this planet.

The problem is, this sort of strike appears to be a last resort, which in itself has allowed the enemy to multiple and gain strength. Making it all more disturbing that in 2007we still have to have a strike like this.
Air strike kills 100 Taliban in Afghanistan

About 100 Taliban terrorists including five senior commanders were killed during an air strike in southern Afghanistan, defence ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi told reporters on Saturday.

Coalition troops carried out an air strike in remote Baghran district of Helmand province on Thursday when many Taliban militants gathered to watch the execution of people accused of cooperating with the government, Azimi said.

Five senior Taliban commanders including Mullah Rahim, the top Taliban commander in Helmand, were among the killed.

Azimi said Mansor Dadullah, a top Taliban military commander, was at the site before the bombing. There was no confirmation that he was killed.

Of course not, Killing leadership is the last thing we like to do.

NY Firefighters Being Forced to Remove Flags from Lockers

nyfd.jpg

Talk about punitive punishment. This seems to be less of an issue of the U.S. flag being attacked by political correctness, than it is an effort to punish all firefighters because one loser posted something "degrading" to women.

NY firefighters say U.S. flags removed from lockers

New York firefighters have been forced to strip their lockers American flags, stickers expressing support for U.S. troops in Iraq and cards commemorating firefighters who died in the September 11, attacks, the firefighters' union said on Wednesday...

"Over the past 18 months, the New York City Fire Department has made a concerted effort to eliminate offensive material from firehouses," said spokesman Anthony Sclafani. "However, American flags and mass cards of firefighters killed on September 11, 2001, are certainly permitted."...The fire department has enforced the policy more strictly since early last month when a slogan considered degrading to women was found in a Brooklyn firehouse, a department source said.

Cassidy said such items as American flags and stickers supporting U.S. troops helped maintain morale. Some 343 firefighters died in the September 11 attacks on New York. "Firefighters by and large are patriotic Americans; they care about the country and they care about the city of New York," he said. "We consider ourselves a second family to Americans."

You don't have to be a feminist to want workplaces to be free of degrading or intimidating material and comments about women. None of us want our daughters, wives or sisters exposed to that. But really, the department can remove the offending material without having to exact punitive punishment, which is exactly what this is all about. I think all of us consider the NYFD and NYPD to be our second family. All the more reason why they should work harder at getting rid of 'offensive' material, while also standing up for their right to display the flag, and any other image that demonstrates their love of this country.

Heartbreak: Human Remains Found at WTC Site

911missing.gif

It is these poor souls for whom we fight. Those who never had a chance to defend themselves. Killed by madmen. We will never forget, and with this tragic reminder of the nature of their sacrifice, we now fight in their defense and in their memory. And for those Americans who are wavering, let it be human remains, which have waited five years to be found, to be your reminder of why we fight, and must never give up. Let those lost lives and the grief of those families be your courage to stay the course.

Human remains found by utility workers at World Trade Center site

NEW YORK (AP) — Human remains including big bones that appeared to be from World Trade Center victims were found by utility workers in a manhole at the northern edge of the site, a Port Authority official said Thursday.

A Consolidated Edison crew doing excavation of the manhole at street level found the remains, some as big as arm or leg bones, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the trade center site. The location where the bones were found is next to where a podium is erected on Sept. 11 anniversaries for families to read the names of their loved ones.

God bless them and their families.

My Answer About the Use of "Torture" Against Terrorists

This little gem came from this post about the shock from the international community about the "torture" the CIA has listed it wants to use. Even the horrific example of pulling on a terrorist's shirt to get his attention. I know, I haven't been able to sleep for weeks about that one.

In the Comments section this little ditty was indeed just submitted. I thought it a good opportunity to counter the sophomoric arguments against persuasive measures to get mass murderers to talk about their next plan, especially because those arguments are seeping with moral relativism and sick self-obsession. Personally, I am sick and tired of this puerile tripe, Malignant Narcissism and nihilism masquerading as "progressive politics" and "concern for American values." My comments are bracketed and bold. I have also redacted this Commenter's name and email to save him/her any further embarrassment. You know who you are.

Liveblogging: Clinton Insists Bin Laden Not Involved in Somalia. Ever.

He insists this now, in the Wallace intv, today in 2006, with all we know, and with the 1998 indictment specifying bin Laden and AQ's involvement in Mogadishu. Wow... "There is not a living soul...or even knew al-Qaida was a going concern in October 93..." And when Wallace notes that bin Laden said our (Clinton's) retreat out of Somalia "showed the weakness of the United States," Clinton says the astounding,

"It would have shown weakness if we left right away, but he [bin Laden] wasn't involved in that, that's just a bunch of bull. That was about Mohammad Aidid, a Muslim warlord, murdering 22 Pakistani Muslim troops...he wasn't a religious fanatatic, there was no al-Qaida.

Fascinating. But don't take it from me. If there is one document Clinton is well aware of when it comes to his administration's understanding of al-Qaida and its history, it would be the Grand Jury Indictment of OBL in 1998, which I have detailed in this post. But just to immediately illustrate how ludicrous this man's statement is about AQ and Somalia, consider these elements from the Indictment itself:

j. At various times from in or about 1992 until the date of the filing of this Indictment, USAMA BIN LADEN and other ranking members of Al Qaeda stated privately to other members of Al Qaeda that the United
States forces stationed in the Horn of Africa, including Somalia, should be attacked;

k. Beginning in or about early spring 1993, Al Qaeda members began to provide training and assistance to Somali tribes opposed to the United Nations intervention in Somalia;

l. On October 3 and 4, 1993, members of Al Qaeda participated with Somali tribesmen in an attack on United States military personnel serving in Somalia as part of Operation Restore Hope, which attack killed a total of 18 United States soldiers and wounded 73 others in Mogadishu;

But there sits Monica's boyfriend, insisting on September 24, 2006 that claims of AQ involvement in Somalia and Blackhawk Down is a bunch of "bull." Could it be that he's on some sort of medication that makes him delusional? This is truly remarkable. His temper is famous, and not just for rhetorical heat. It was difficult not to note the attempt at physical intimidation as well when Bubba leaned over and stabbed at the papers on Wallace's lap. It would have been more than appropriate for Wallace to tell him to either sit back or to stop touching him. But then again, Bill's heard that request far too many times before, I'm sure. Just not from another man.

The FBI didn't "certify" bin Laden as a bad guy in 1999? Then why was he on their Ten Most Wanted List?

Wallace came to interview him under false pretenses? You mean he pledged to pretend to be Monica, and then decided to be a journalist instead?

And here it is, "nobody knew in 1996 that al-Qaida existed" ??????

My god, this man lies as easily as he breathes. Does he think a bunch of us aren't out here in our "pajamas" reminding people of the truth? Amazing.

At :22, Clinton, after a break and now that he has calmed down, is absolutely right about what democracy is and is not--it's more than elections. It's about minority rights, individual rights, etc. This is the only normal thing he has said so far.

:26: Well, this was revealing...Wallace asks about Rove and how Clinton said he was tired of Rove's "b.s." Clinton answers that he's not tired of Rove, after all "I don't blame Karl Rove, if you've got a deal that works, just keep on doin' it." Well, apparently Clinton should know. For him, lying has worked for so long, he just keeps doing it. I'm sure it gets embarrassing, though, when it doesn't work any longer and you haven't noticed.

:28. Here's the crux of the Dem plan and why since 2002 they have downplayed the terror threat and to this day insist Bush is the problem, and not Islamist extremists, "We're gonna win a lot of seats if the American people aren't afraid." Last time I checked, Bill, it was good to be afraid of things that want to kill you, like cancer, and like Islamist terrorists. And this man wonders why we noticed he did nothing to stop the terrorist threat for 8 years. Because the Dems can only win when the American people are anesthetized. The Dems and Clinton know they cannot protect this country, so they must make it appear, as Clinton did for 8 years, that there is nothing to fight.

"If they're [the American people] afraid and we [the Dems] get divided again, then we may only win a few seats." Wow, even now the only thing he can think of is how World War III fits into his plans for power. How about winning a few seats, Bill, with new ideas and a vision for the future instead of trying to think of how to lobotomize the American people?

And what a perfect close from Wallace: "Mr. President, thank you for one of the more unusual interviews." Clinton did not look happy with that. Perhaps only then did he realize what actually happened.

UPDATE:

Paul at Powerline has an excellent post about the Clinton meltdown and also points to Byron York's assessment of Clinton's ultimately bizarre attempt to defend himself.

What We Knew and When We Knew It: The 1998 OBL Indictment

binladen.jpg

In Light of Bill Clinton's meltdown on Fox this afternoon and his foundational claim that, up until 1996, we had no idea who bin Laden was and that he had not committied crimes against America, I point you to the 1998 U.S. Grand Jury Indictment against bin Laden.

While anyone can claim anything, the bottom line is this document details extensive terrorist activity by bin Laden beginning in 1989. Ranging from training camps, to searching for uranium, to funding and training Somali warlords, to organizing and funding terrorism worldwide, Clinton is on one of two positions: either he truly did not know which makes him even more incompetent than even I have thought, or he did know the extent of the problem and did the least amount possible so as to not disturb the international status quo. With the date of 1989 as bin Laden's genesis, the only president who can legitimately say he had no idea is George H.W. Bush.

I believe the latter is the case. Please keep in mind, the details in the 1998 indictment were not "discovered" within weeks in an effort to produce that indictment. This is a work of compiling intelligence discoveries and facts determined in the decade prior to the finding.

Here is a synopsis from the FAS of the findings. The text of the indictment immediately follows. Remember, this, including the Iraq finding, comes in the midst of the Clinton admin, not the Bush admin.
