A year after JFK's Ich Bin Ein speech in Berlin West Germany, MLK visited Berlin and after speaking in West German side, he went and spoke in East Germany. U.S. gov't didn't want him to go to East Germany and confiscated his passport. He showed his AmEx card to the East German guards and they let him in. His address in East Germany was inspirational to them that the West had not forgotten East Germany.
