Catholics Come Out on Catholic Marriage

Since I don't want children, I can't get married in my Catholic Church. Civil rights granted to marriage partners are one thing, but the church's definition is slim. I've known that and stayed in the church that holds my heart. So when I saw this ad about Catholics confessing they believe in Catholic marriage, I felt that anxiety and know I've had those moments myself. A worry about what may happen when I admit to what I believe and who I am, I think the ad captures the worry of many about religious freedom battles ahead.

And my friend Paige, isn’t it profound that a few short years ago, Carrie Prejean (Whom I can still respect today, even after that little spat of boyfriend personal pictures being released mess)seemed as though she was far ahead of her time in saying something as simple as she believes that marriage in her life and culture and family is simply known traditionally as between one man and one woman?

Great to hear from you again Paige:)

God is Our Father. He gives us the free will to live any way we want. But He makes it clear in His Word that a man and a woman are complementary to each other to bring about children.Any other way stifles life. The Catholic Church has ALWAYS been Pro-Life. They stand for traditional marriage for that reason. I am not ashamed to do the same. The tsunami of hatred towards “breeders” hasn’t started yet, but I know its coming to my beloved church. The 1st amendment protecting religious freedom will fall on deaf ears to protect an agenda of true bigotry.
Thanks Paige for this Ad as an Open Thread on the Scotus decision was not
afforded us. I close with Romans 12:2.

Midget, thank you! I’ve had friends tell me, “You can always just change churches,” and I said that’s definitely so, but I stay because this is where my heart is. I respect the consistency, and know that the Catholic definition of marriage is not the same as civil marriages or even of many marriages of Catholics I know. 🙂 It’s part of the deal. Not always easy, but it’s recently become a really intellectual journey as well.

Have you ever read Graham Greene? His fiction about the Church helped me a lot. And Thomas Merton–he was very flawed, and made many mistakes, but knowing that he was still very holy is heartening to me. 🙂
      Nice to see you, Midget!

Thanks 4 the info Paige.Knowing your story,I feel that the Church is lucky to have you in it.Like St. Thomas More, you stand with the Church even at your own expense. Jesus will reward you for that.Yes, Thomas Merton ticked off a few theologians but his heart loved the Lord. I’ll check out GG. God Bless.

Very well put Midget. No need to worry though. Such attacks on religion are time immemorial. Now it is evolving into our national experiment called the U.S. and our Constitution…

Such an enlightening statement you make on the term “breeders.” One thing for sure is that when you are right, you’re right Midget. What I mean is that there are no more generations to be had if men and women don’t make the connection! That’s just plain old fashioned biology:)

What THAT means is that the “iliberal left,” as Kirsten Powers mentions in her new book, “The Silencing,” needs to slow their roll on any attempts they make to be too militant and activist…in fighting against or even discriminating against Hetrosexuality:))

Can we say,”Law of unintended consequences.” I can see the history books 100 years from now as humans are living on Mars or wherever..LOL. It will read, Americans Wiped Themselves Out On Accident By Trying To Fight Innequality When They Inadvertantly Started Making Hetrosexuals Out To Be Bigots.

Sidenote: It isn’t like we don’t have bad actors (maybe China/Russia/Korea) trying to wipe out the American way already).

Thanks 4 your comments Sweetexp. Its true that humanity won’t be wiped out unless WW3 happens, I’m just worried about priests & ministers going to jail and/or churchs being closed. Tammy said that ” you don’t need the 10 commandments to have them matter”, but without them in the schools, children have been allowed to run amok. Catholics believe that the Real Presence of the Body,Blood ,Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ resides in the tabernacle.Take that away, and I assure you that will matter greatly.
