Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill – What does it contain?

As Cantor pulls the Sandy Relief bill from the floor of the House tonight, drawing the ire of Boehner, in a manner reminiscent of the infamous catfights between Alexis and Krystle in Dynasty, let us recall what that bill really contains.

Boehner is getting the blame for the non-vote on Sandy relief bill. Should it be Cantor getting the blame instead? Or both?

Anyway my thought on this; is that really it’s the Republicans lack of strategy stupid patsies once again with the Democrats not getting their share of the blame. Senate Dems. passed the $60 billion relief bill first and sent to the House. Because the Senate bill includes much non-emergency relief monies, the House Repubs. cut it down to size to $27 billion. Now if the House passed their bill late on 1/1, then the bill would have to go to conf., come out of the conf., and be approved by both House and Senate before 1/4 swearing in of new Congress. The Dems. could try and get an even worse bill in the conference committee, based on the Repubs. can’t vote it down now, so the resultant bill could have been even larger than $60 billion with even more questionable spending. So the best thing to do at this point may have been to pull the bill and start over in the new Congress when the Repubs. won’t be up against a time limit. The real failure is the House not passing a relief bill in November or early December so the Democrats could use the time is ending strategy on their side.
