On Martin Luther King Day

“Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”

~Dr Martin Luther King

    Very true.

And ironically, his most famous quotation — to “judge people not on the basis of the color of their skin, but on the content of their character” is rarely followed these days by his followers, the government, media and entertainment industries, who unfailingly seek instead to identify people by racial group and ethnic background (which leads to vilification of some, and strained rationalizations and ‘protections’ for others), increasing the polarization and balkanization now tearing the country apart. I’ll take ‘unity’ any day over this awful new ‘diversity’.
