Regarding immigration, State Dept. passport/visa computer system crashed over one week ago. (Alert: article quotes Marie Harf) http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9249958/State_Dept._database_crash_leads_to_passport_visa_delays
System is not yet back. State Dept. is prioritizing immigrant requests first and then non-immigrant requests. State Dept. posts very little about this on its public website, but does post on its Facebook page. I’m not a Facebooker but I’m told that the recent post is a lengthy explanation of squirrel.
Several thoughts. There have been recent articles about Israelis not being able to get visas to come visit the U.S. for both business and personal reasons. A system-wide unexplained ‘crash’ could cover up any shenanigans there. Could also be an excuse to covertly divert State Dept. staff from non-immigrant passport/visa activities to refugee activities. And it could be another thuggish action to hurt U.S. citizens so as to get more money from Congress because the ‘system is broken’. I’m guessing D, All of the above.
