This cuts to the heart of what went wrong, and why Obama stands to lose. Obama could have made recovery his priority, and he would likely have been much more popular. But recovery was never his priority. Now the nation is paying the price, and most of us know it.
Excerpt:
“To our mind, two events amid hundreds stand out as defining President Obama's first term. The first is his go-for-broke pursuit of progressive social legislation instead of focusing on economic recovery. The second is his refusal to strike a budget deal with Speaker John Boehner in 2011. Both reveal a President more bent on transforming America than addressing the needs of our time.
“Mr. Obama was elected first and foremost with a mandate to fix the economy. Yet when he found himself by rare confluence of luck with 60 votes in the Senate, he put nurturing a fragile recovery secondary to the pursuit of pent-up liberal social policies.”

He never cared about what those who voted for him wanted him to do. He just wanted votes to get elected to do what he wanted. Article says that it was because he unexpectedly got a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. No, that just made his goals easier to achieve. The filibuster-proof majority likely made long-time extreme Democrat politicians led by Pelosi go for their fascist dreams vs run of the mill bipartisan goverance but for Obama, that’s what he always wanted.
That’s why when ‘government fails to act’ he signs an executive order and/or has his agencies pass rules when they have no authority to do so. The amnesty for ‘young’ illegals, EPA cap & trade, the FCC claim of authority over the internet, the intimidation DOJ lawsuits, HHS rules implementing O-care, appointments made while Congress was in session, etc.
