Attending the ACRI's 'Reagan Roundtable'

For the next two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) I have the pleasure of attending the American Civil Rights Institute's 'Reagan Roundtable.' Established and directed by Ward Connerly, the ACRI "isa national civil rights organization created to educate the public on the harms of racial and gender preferences..." The invitation-only gathering I'm attending provides updates on the work or the ACRI and their multi-state effort to end state sponsored and supported group preferences and their other authentic civil rights works encouraging individual freedom.

So please indulge my absence from Tammy Radio Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll be back on the show Thursday. You will get a "Best of Tammy" and I will be blogging through the next two days as well.

Listen To Tammy Radio From Anywhere

tslmobi.jpg

TSL mobi. Nice pic, huh :)

**Bumped up for the weekend Tammy Radio audience**

While many of you listen to the show on your favorite local affiliate, a lot of you choose Talk Stream Live to hook into your favorite shows. One of the drawbacks, of course, is that you can't listen to the internet in your car--until now.

Talk Stream Live now has their .mobi mobile site allowing you to listen to Tammy Radio, and all of your favorite shows on your mobile device. This is great news and allows you to listen to talk radio anywhere you like, including your car or truck. Here's their .mobi announcement. They've also been kind enough to include a list of the Top 10 Smartphones which work with Talk Stream Live.

Listen to radio on the internet from anywhere

TalkStreamLive.mobi gets a sporting new look and performance upgrades.

This mobile site serves up thousands of talk shows and hundreds of music, news and sports stations. All of the talk shows stream around 32 kbs and will play on the standard Windows Mobile player. Most of the music stations stream at 128 kbs and require the TCPMP media player — TCPMP is a media player that you can download for free and will play most broadband streams.

If you already own a smartphone ( Motorola Q pictured above ) with a data plan or have a portable wi-fi enabled device the TalkStreamLive.mobi service is free.

We make it easy for you to listen to radio on the Internet in your car or from just about anywhere. If you like talk radio as much as we do you will find a “live” talk show to listen to 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Tammy in the Air Open Thread

Sorry everyone for the lack of blogging yesterday. My thanks to Maynard post posting excellent commentaries, as usual. The College Republicans at Ohio University invited me to speak and we had a great time last night. Their president, Ashley Herzog, is also a columnist for the campus newspaper. Here's her piece about my visit. I also want to thank all the members of the group and the Young America's Foundation for helping to make my appearance possible. A special tip of the hat to Bill, a Tammy Radio listener and Peep for driving for three hours from Cincinnati to see me. It was great meeting you Bill!

I now have a 1 1/2 hour drive to the airport and then will spend most of the day in the air getting back to Los Angeles. I have received a lot of emails about the California Supreme Court decision re gay marriage. While Mayard has posted on the issue and the his take on judicial overreach, I will chime in with a perspective on the issue as well as soon as I get home. And when I get a moment in a various airport or two, I'll the occasional observance on another issue or two.

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an Open Thread, and have a great Friday.

Very Sad: Suzanne Pleshette Has Died

Suzanne_Pleshette.jpg

Actor Suzanne Pleshette has died. While her career was expansive, she is best remembers, especially by my generation, as Emily Hartley, the wife to Bob Newhart's character on the first "Bob Newhart Show," which ran from 1972-1978 (taking me from 10 years old to 16). A beautiful, funny woman, she played one of the first "wife" characters who really demonstrated an independence within the context of a strong, equal marriage.

Time's Richard Corliss has this to say about her passing:

Actress Suzanne Pleshette Dies

Her face had ready-made drama: jet-black hair framing kabuki-white skin. Her gray-blue eyes could smolder on cue or, more readily, crease into a smile. The sultry voice and famously knowing laugh suggested a woman who had been places, had fun there and come back intact. Suzanne Pleshette was a perfect fit for the movies' golden age, in sophisticated romantic comedy (think of a brunette Carole Lombard, a springier Rosalind Russell) or the kind of elevated soap opera where she could lure a man to hell or sacrifice all in a tearful close-up. I see her swapping love banter with Cary Grant, taming Gary Cooper.

Unfortunately for her, Hollywood had stopped making the kinds of films that would have made Pleshette a star two decades before she got there. So she played Bob Newhart's wife Emily on his-six-year sitcom in the 1970s. That's how Pleshette is being remembered, on her death Saturday from respiratory failure. In 2006 she had undergone chemotherapy for lung cancer. But I prefer to think of her as one of those stars who got away — away from stardom, when the old dream factory forgot how to manufacture domestic glamour. She had all the goods, but at the wrong time...

As combination wife, den mother and sounding board — the norm by which all the kooks on the show were measured and found wanting (though funny) — Pleshette made sardonic seem cozy. Essentially the straight woman, she could assert herself in a scene just by being there; she was the footnote you want to read before getting to the main text. Her voice could coax, critique and forgive in one sentence; she was champion of the verbal raised eyebrow, but never in contempt, always in amusement. Though Emily and Bob were more or less post-sexual, they often ended an episode in bed, rehashing the day's events, he still complaining, she offering the vocal equivalent of warm pats and cold compresses...

"I don't sit around and wait for great parts," she once said. "I'm an actress, and I love being one, and I'll probably be doing it till I'm 72... " Not quite. She died 12 days before her 71st birthday. But on late shows and in reruns, Suzanne Pleshette will still be the soul of comic common sense, still sending out beams of a very reasonable radiance.

bobnewhartshow.jpg

The cast of the Bob Newhart Show

My childhood was made decent by a few experiences--Ray Bradbury's books, and some really great television shows in the 70s. Considering the garbage on television today, take a look at the Saturday night lineup on CBS starting when I was 10: All in the Family, M.A.S.H., Mary Tyler Moore, The Bob Newhart Show and Carol Burnett. A little reminder about real creativity, originality and talent, which seems to be mostly lacking these days on the small, and big, screens.

For those of you too young to remember Pleshette, thank goodness for reruns and syndication. TVLand runs both Newhart series'. Do yourself a favor and make a point of checking them out; you'll finally see what great television and comedy are all about.

Babe News Anchor Punches Cop

alycialane.jpg

Alycia Lane. Just watch out for the right hook.

Sends cop to hospital. Which may get babe sent to jail. Babe then wishes she watched more "Bad Girls" when she had the chance.

News anchor busted for punching cop

An Emmy-winning news anchor from Philadelphia is in hot water for punching a police officer here in New York, officials said.

Alycia Lane, a Long Island native who co-anchors the nightly news for a local station in the City of Brotherly Love, was arrested for hitting a female police officer in the face early this morning in Manhattan, and charged with assaulting a police officer...

Earlier this year, 35-year-old Lane made headlines when she e-mailed photos of herself clad in a revealing bikini to NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen. The images were discovered by Eisen's wife, but Lane insisted the pictures were only meant as a good-humored joke.

I don't think she'll be going where Martha went. But those pics might get her a few more smokes.

Stay away from my nuts! The Tiny Gay Squirrel says: "Wow, two Babe posts in a row. It's good to move past Huckanut rage (for a moment) to things that are really important...like Babes."

UPDATE:

Apparently Alycia used a derogatory phrase against the woman cop that a) could also be used in prison, and b) get her sent to the hospital, just after she becomes everyone's wife. For at least an hour.

Philadelphia News Anchor Alycia Lane Calls Officer 'Dyke', Lands in Jail

Alycia Lane, the evening news anchor on CBS affiliate KYW-TV in Philadelphia, was arrested on early Sunday morning in Manhattan after an altercation with a female police officer, according to the New York Times. Lane and her boyfriend Chris Booker, and another unidentified couple were reportedly traveling in a taxi through Manhattan and became upset over a slow vehicle blocking their way. Philly.com reports Lane confronted the passengers of the slow vehicle, which happened to be a group of police officers in plainclothes. [Oops.]

When one of the officers asked Lane, who was taking photos with her iPhone, to step back, the news anchor reportedly began verbally assaulting the officer. According to Philadelphia Weekly, Lane screamed at the officer, saying "I don't give a f*ck who you are, I am a reporter you f*cking dyke." Lane then punched the female officer in the face, according to the Associated Press, resulting in several lacerations and swelling. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Pilgrims Landing

The Pilgrims Landing

The last six years, while obviously exceedingly difficult for all of us, have also provided undeniable examples of why we should be the most thankful people in the world.

We have been reminded about the greatness of our country, as we face the oppression so many around the world endure. While we were exposed to the harsh reality of our mortality, we have the astounding ability, more than anyone else on earth, to actually and truly make the most of every day. We know now that tomorrow is not guaranteed, but it has made us more aware of the gifts of each day and our responsibility as Americans to promote and ensure freedom at home, and around the world.

I'm personally grateful for living in a nation with values that keep me challenged every day to become a better person. I'm grateful for living a wonderful life and being given opportunities every day to communicate with so many of you about the issues and events that shape our lives.

George Washington

President Washington

I'm grateful especially for our Founding Fathers, those few men, and the women who supported them, who took the biggest risk of all, challenging the most powerful force on earth so the United States of America could be born. They devoted themselves to an idea which continues to transform the world, and peoples lives, to this day. We are the beacon for freedom for those who yearn for it, as the pilgrims and President Washington's vision lives through each and every one of us.

I'm simply grateful for being given the awesome responsibility of being an American, and all that comes with it.

And to all the Tammy Peeps. You are an important part of my family and I will never be able to express the depth of my gratitude to you for your support and friendship.

Troops with Turkey

Our Troops Getting Their Thanksgiving Dinner

With love and salutations from all the Bruce girls--myself, Sydney and Snoopy--Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here at home, and all our loved ones in uniform. Indeed, to all those stationed around the world, furthering the hope and vision of those first brave souls who came to America searching for personal freedom, finally manifest by President Washington and the divine act of the creation of this nation.

A note by Maynard

It's worth taking a moment to read George Washington's original Thanksgiving Proclamation. It begins:

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houfes of Congress have, by their joint committee, requefted me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to eftablifh a form of government for their safety and happiness..."

Tammy Vegas Trip Postponed

I was originally going to be in Las Vegas tomorrow and Saturday to visit my affiliate there, KDOX, because of their participation in the VFW parade on Saturday. For a variety of reasons, the parade date has changed and KDOX won't be in it. So, while I won't be there this weekend, we are working for a date for me to visit exclusively for Tammy events, location broadcasting and listener get-togethers. We'll make that happen asap. I know many of you were looking forward to it, but we'll be there sooner than later.

As soon as that date is decided upon, you'll hear about from KDOX, on my show and here on the blog. Thanks :)

Also, I'm on my way back from my Penn State speech. And while Tammy Radio has been on tape the last two days, we'll be back live tomorrow. I can't believe I was away during Sarkozy's visit, so I'll indulge in some of that commentary tomorrow, s well as all the other issues that showed up while I was in beautiful Pennsylvania.

Thank you everyone for your patience.

Tammy and Johnny Go to Halloween

Yes, my buddy Johnny and I went to the very famous annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnival this evening. Before it got too crazy. Johnny went as a radio talk show producer/host/sports guy dressed in a British t-shirt, and I went as a radio talk show host/writer/Fox News Political Analyst. I have worked so long on my costume, I can't even tell you. I was thrilled to be able to wear it tonight.

My favorite experience was going into the Pavilions supermarket on Santa Monica Blvd. To buy baby food for Snoopy (I am obviously a party maniac hipster, through and through). Yes, I think we were the only ones buying the baby food tonight at that particular store. That said, there's nothing like going to the market with devils, sailors, gladiators, pirates, and Little Bo Peep. And that was just the checkers and produce boys! Here is a snapshot of the market fun--Johnny and I with one of the Pavlion checkers/pirates.

inthemkt3.jpg

My other favorite moment is our encounter with one of Johnny's favorite celebrities--Peg Bundy.

Johnandpeg.jpg

Isn't Johnny cute? Yes, we had fun and felt all our work putting together our costumes was totally worth it. But, alas, both of us have shows in the morning, so our evening did not last long. I hope your Halloween was safe and fun, for tomorrow is November 1st, the rent is due, the Frontline flea stuff has to be put on Syd and Snoop and we have only 94 days to the Super Tuesday primaries. If Halloween didn't scare you, that certainly should.

Update on Things from Tammy

It was a dark and stormy night...

For those of you who listen to Tammy Radio, I really want to apologize for the show being on tape quite for a few days this last week. Today is, once again, one of those days. It has been a crazy week combined with fire issues (everything is fine), work issues (deadlines and a special project I'll tell you about in more detail when I'm at liberty to do so), and moving from the Power Shack to great new place.

Today is Day One of a two-day moving adventure, requiring another "Best Of" on the radio. I do promise you that tomorrow's Tammy Radio Weekend will be live :) I just wanted to thank you all for your patience and understanding. Obviously, all that I've listed for you has also affected the frequency of my blogging. That will also get back to normal sooner than later. I do want to thank Maynard for great posts (as always) and you Commenters for chiming in keeping things lively.

The week after next also offers some unique opportunities. As you ll know, a Pepperdine speech I had scheduled was postponed due to the Malibu fire. While most of the fires are now under control (but still burning) we still need to have things settle down and then we'll have a new Pepperdine date for you.

My speech at Penn State is confirmed for November 7th. Anyone can attend so if you're near the State College, PA area, I'd love to see you. Right after that, I'll be visiting my Las Vegas affiliate, KDOX, from November 9-10. I'll have more details on that for you soon as well.

Thanks again everyone, and consider this an Open Thread for this afternoon. I'll be blogging again today on the issues.

Things to do in Vegas

A post by Maynard

With Tammy making plans to take the show down the road to Las Vegas and follow up on OJ's latest adventures, I'm wondering what recreations we can recommend to her. Other than the plentiful gambling and shopping and shows, of course. Here are a few eclectic notions:

Take a flight in a space plane. Zero G will take you up in a cavernous airplane, which will then do parabolic (free fall) maneuvers so you can experience a few minutes of weightlessness. It's unreasonably expensive ($3,675), but might be an interesting interlude for those with money to burn. The promotional videos show delighted people flying effortlessly through the air like birds, but I suspect the reality is less idyllic: More likely most will be flailing violently, and some will be screaming in terror, while others are puking their guts out. This little adventure is being marketed through Sharper Image.

("Weightlessness" sounds so graceful, but in fact the sensation is that of falling like a rock. It's like on a roller coaster where it goes straight down. Consider that the people on the space shuttle and the space station are subjected to this 24/7. It takes some getting used to.)

A "poor man's version" of the Zero-G thing might be a visit to the FlyAway. I tried this once, many years ago. You dress up in a baggy jumpsuit and stroll over a vertically-mounted aircraft propeller and try to do an impression of The Flying Nun. A cute notion, but it doesn't work very well. No wonder Sally Field morphed into a moonbat.

Ah! Now here's a "Tammy" thing! In Nevada, you can rent a machine gun! Lots of fun for tourists, especially from abroad where the citizens are treated even more like children than we are. Here's a video from one of various shooting ranges showing off their wares. (I know nothing about this particular store, so I'm not recommending it; I just found their video.)

Due to Fires, Speech at Pepperdine Postponed

I was scheduled to speak at Malibu's Pepperdine University tonight for Islamo-Fascism Week but it has been postponed because of the fires. Classes at Pepperdine have been cancelled for the day, but we will reschedule. As soon as we have the new date, I'll let you know.

Also, for those of you near Penn State, I will be speaking there on November 7. Mark your calendars for that and I'll have more details about that appearance for you soon.

On Fox This Morning, John McCain Respects Himself

Well, I suppose that's good considering he doesn't respect us. Apparently John McCain had a MalNar Sally Field moment, announcing that he really, really likes himself:

"You might not agree with me on every issue, but I hope you know I'm not going to con you. The most important thing we have in this life is our self-respect. And I'm not going to trade mine for anyone's vote or for any office."

Priceless. John McCain is a whining hypocrite. Self-respect? This is the same man who told a meeting of construction workers that we need an illegal alien slave class because American workers wouldn't pick lettuce for $50 an hour. He may have self-respect, but he has no respect for the American. To say
nothing of the absurdity of McCain complaining in debates that the American people have lost faith in Washington, and how he's going to lead that change when he's been a major part of the problem. The Amnesty bill chief among the debacles from those elites.

If McCain had any self-respect he'd withdraw from this race, and retire from government.

About the timing this morning--the segment used to be on at 10:20a, ET. They're still fine-tuning it, but the segment will be on later than that, some time between :30 and :40 past. Last week they told me :40 and we hit at about :30, so stayed tuned in that block and you'll catch it. I hope you can tune in. There's nothing I like better than spanking those hypocritical elites in Washington, and McCain is chief among them.

On Fox This Morning a Little Later Than Usual

The segment I'll be on will be at 10:40am ET (7:40am PT) this morning. If this is a regular change, I'll let you know. It looks like the subject will be the current standings in Iowa.

Hope you can tune in.

On Fox's The Big Story Tonight

At about 5:30pm ET. Hope you can tune in. The subject will be Rosie O'Donnell's new fan club of terrorists in the Middle East who have invited her to 'visit' them. She shouldn't test us. It's one thing for us to watch her on television, and quite another to pay ransom. But perhaps she'll get another TV gig out of it. I hear al-Jazeera is hiring.

For those of you who have forgotten the myriad of statements O'Donnell has made that would make terrorists smile, here's your background on the whole sordid affair.

Oh, Rosie! Terrorists invite her to Mideast

Muslim jihadist leaders interviewed for a new book were ecstatic about statements from television talk host Rosie O'Donnell about the war in Iraq and the global war on terror, agreeing with her outspoken views.

Some even invited her on a "fact finding mission" to the Middle East.

"I agree with what this O'Donnell says. ...We welcome Rosie O'Donnell to stay among us and to get to know the truth from being here, like many American peace activists are doing," said Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist organization.

Rosie's rep has called the situation "absurd."
Yes it is. Thank you for finally noticing what the rest of us have been putting up with while your client continues to break her proverbial bones daily on her website or on television.

On Fox This Morning: Bush Declares Hillary the Dem Winner

Miss Cleo

Miss Cleo--With Rove Gone She Has Much More Influence

Here's my email response to the Fox producer when they emailed the segment information. Oh, we're also going to discuss how the White House has called Obama a 'lazy" candidate. I'll be on the usual time, 10:20am ET (7:20am PT). Hope you can tune in.

Here's my email:

Yeah, this is great.

First, with the way Ahmadinejad is being feted by liberals in NY--Columbia, The
National Press Club--I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the Dem nomination.

President Bush is now Miss Cleo. I'm glad he finally caught up with me on
the Hillary issue. But, at the same time, they were so right when they
declared the Republicans would hold onto the senate in 2006, and Bush was
right on the mark when he said he was going to be signing the amnesty bill
into law.

That sure never happened.

Here, Bush is relying on what everyone else knows, too--the Dem primaries
are are a Dog and Silky Pony show--Hillary is their nominee and everyone
else is jockeying for a job with her admin.

Now if he would just listen to everyone else on other issues like he is
this one, the nation might actually be in better shape.

As far as Obama--he's not lazy--he knows the score and he's been fronting
for Hillary, that's all. Bottom line--Democrats deserve better than this
Bad Cabaret act. We deserve a real race. Al Gore should enter it and make
it serious because right now the truth on that side of the aisle is as
silent as Marcel Marceau.

You think I was kidding about the "new mainstream Democratic party" being their preferred nominee? Think again.

Mime Legend Marcel Marceau Has Died

Marcel Marceau

The man was remarkable.

Mime Legend Marcel Marceau Dies at 84

Marcel Marceau, the master of mime who transformed silence into poetry with lithe gestures and pliant facial expressions that spoke to generations of young and old, has died. He was 84...Wearing white face paint, soft shoes and a battered hat topped with a red flower, Marceau breathed new life into an art that dates to ancient Greece. He played out the human comedy through his alter-ego Bip without ever uttering a word.

Offstage, he was famously chatty. "Never get a mime talking. He won't stop," he once said.

A French Jew, Marceau escaped deportation to a Nazi death camp during World War II, unlike his father who died in Auschwitz. Marceau worked with the French Resistance to protect Jewish children, and later used the memories of his own life to feed his art.

Let us not be silent about the impact of someone like this, saving children's lives during a time of war, and entertaining children in the aftermath. All of us can look to Marceau as an example of how to lead a worthy life.

Heaven just got a bit more interesting.

For those of you who do not know Marcel Marceau, here's a 5-minute tribute well worth watching. It is a reminder of the day when being an "entertainer" was more nuanced and complicated than getting out of a car without panties on, or being arrested for DUI, or getting caught in Vegas committing another crime.

On O'Reilly Factor for Monday

**Bumped up**

Instead of my usual morning appearance. As soon as I have an idea of the timing and subject matter, I'll let you know. Hope you can all tune in.

UPDATE:

Okay, looks like I'll b on at about :30 past the hour. The topics re: Elizabeth Edwards criticizes Moveon.org and gets blasted by a lefty blogger:

Elizabeth Edwards: 'Betray us' ad unfair

Note to Elizabeth Edwards: Lay Off MoveOn

And the Sally Field plus other celebrity moonbats making political comments last night on the Emmys:

Emmy Censors Got Workout on Awards Night

Field Has Another Memorable Award Speech

Quotes from the 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles

Update:

Here's the video, courtesy of Darlene:

Just got home after doing the segment, with which I am not entirely happy. While I don't have a script (of course) for these segments, I do have points I want to make, perhaps a particular appropriate joke, etc. But this time, I'm sitting in the Los Angeles bureau, as usual, just me facing a camera, with a cameraman and a thing in my ear, Bill's speaking with Kirsten (she's in his studio s you'll see) and a guy walks into the set in L.A. has starts talking to the camera guy! Now I'm trying to wave him off, he stands there, I don;t know what he's gonna do, I can see him in the corner of my eye, and Bill then comes to me.

Bottom line, while I think the segment was okay, I was distracted and didn't deliver what I wanted to. The producers said you couldn't tell that anything was going on on my end, so that's good, but it's always disappointing when the rhythm gets screwed up. And that's exactly what it is--you get in a zone, ready to deliver in the few minutes you'll have, and boy, at least for me, a distraction can be really frustrating.

So, I think it's okay tonight, but not great. So while the audience won't know what was meant to be said and wasn't, I do which is why it was exasperating.

Anyway...enough whining.

New Endries Session Photo Posted

This one is now in the Gallery. It's a bit different from the others, and it looks like Talk Radio Network will be using this in some ad campaigns for Tammy Radio. I hope you like it. It will now be forever in the Gallery with my other official photos. I'll continue to add new ones when the mood strikes me :)

Tom and Katie Sleep in Separate Bedrooms...

katie-holmes-4.jpg

br2.jpg

Breathe Right or separate bedrooms? Apparently a tough call for Tom Cruise.

Because he snores. And Angelina Jolie and I sleep in separate bedrooms because she snores. Or maybe it's because we really don't know each other. Actually, I'd have trouble breathing with Katie in my bed, too, but only at first :)

Katie blames Tom Cruise's snoring for sleeping in separate bedrooms

It's an age old problem, and many a wife has suffered because of it - but not Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes are reported to sleep in separate bedrooms, so she doesn't have to suffer his snoring.

A source told US magazine, Star: "It's a situation that works for both of them"...

"In fact, they even joke about having separate bedrooms to their friends – Katie says Tom snores, and this way she can get her beauty sleep!"

"Of course they spend time together alone at night like most married couples; after all, they conceived Suri!"

On O'Reilly Factor Tonight

At about 5:30pm PT. I was filling in for Bernie Goldberg for their media issues segment. We talked about the ridiculous decision by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer to not print a photo of two men the FBI is looking for who may be terrorists scoping out the Seattle ferry system, and the fact that university professors give more money to Democrat candidates than the oil an gas companies give to Republicans. I'm out tight now and posting this from my iPhone but as soon as I get in I'll have li is for you as well. Hope you can tune in.

UPDATE:

seattlemen.jpg

The FBI is seeking to identify these two men. If you have any information call the FBI's Seattle office at 206-622-0460.

FBI Seeks Identity of Two Men Seen Aboard Washington State Ferries

The FBI released photographs of two men Monday who have been seen on Washington state ferries "exhibiting unusual behavior" and asked the public for help identifying them...The release of the photos did spark a minor controversy between Seattle's rival papers, when the Post-Intelligencer decided not to run the photo when the Times did.

"Running a photograph of two men who may as easily be tourists from Texas as terrorists from the Mideast with a story that makes them out to be persons of interest in a terrorism investigation seems problematic, to say the least," Post-Intelligencer Managing Editor David McCumber said in a blog Tuesday, noting that "ferry security is hugely important. So are civil liberties and privacy."

A Times managing editor defended the paper's decision to run the photos on Tuesday.

"Further reporting helped us more effectively weigh the potential value — and harm — of publishing the photos," said Suki Dardarian, the paper's managing editor of news coverage and enterprise. "After some deliberation, we decided to publish the photographs, along with as much context as we could bring to the story."

Here is the background on how university employees have become major players in election financing. But only for Democrats.

The New College Try

Nearly four years after academia donated almost $30 million to unseat George W. Bush and Republicans, college professors and others in the education field have contributed more money to federal politics than the oil industry and drugmakers, with a nearly unanimous goal of putting a Democrat in the White House...

Seventy-six percent of the education industry's total federal contributions for '08 has gone to Democrats, on par with the industry's partisanship in the last two election cycles. Perhaps more surprising than the industry’s party split is its sheer size: Education was the eighth-largest industry in terms of all federal campaign contributions in 2004 and the 13th largest in 2006, meaning that in the last two election cycles, college employees contributed more to politicians than the oil and gas industry, which ranked 16th in both cycles.

The Perfect Tammy Birthday Video Gift

Pat S., ever so thoughtful, actually figured out what I really wanted for my birthday. Thanks Pat! Here's the birthday email I received this morning. It was even better than my coffee and protein shake.

What to send Tammy on her birthday? An animated, jokey card? Poetry? Flowers? What would Tammy appreciate? I think maybe this.

Happy birthday! Pat

And it is a present that I am more than happy to share and spread around. After all, it's the gift that keeps on giving. ;)

UPDATE:

On 8/21 we noticed the video in YouTube is gone, but we are looking quickly for it somewhere else. At least it lasted through my birthday (and longer than the terrorists little RPG campaign ;) I'll update you here when we figure out where we can get it. And if any of you can join the hunt, please do. It's too good to go away...

UPDATE 2:

A huge thanks to Boure for finding it on LiveLeak. I swear, every time I watch that thing, I get the biggest smile. I guess Allah, once again, wasn't willing.

Rove Resigning as of August 31

Paul Gigot at the WSJ has the details. It seems, however, that Rove has been 'gone' from the White House for quite some time. President Bush's chief political strategist is indeed leaving as of August 31st. Rove is described by the president as the architect of his two White House victories, but it's become clear in the last couple of years, as the president's policy and approval ratings have become simply ridiculous.

I've been asking the hypothetical question on Tammy Radio for over a year, "Where's Karl Rove?" as we've seen the president flounder in so many ways.

This will also be the topic of my appearance on Fox News this morning. I'll have more soon...

Now that I'm in the car on the way to Fox, I just want to add another observation, which I hope I'm able to make on the air as well. Part of Gigot's article deals with Rove's 'myth,' or more accurately, the deluded obsession the left has had on Rove. They've placed on him all manner of control. The left thinks everyone from bloggers to all radio talk shows take orders from Rove. Scott over at Powerline has a good example of how deep the left's paranoid suspicion goes.

This indicates more than just the left being paranoid MalNars, it also illustrates how out of touch the Left Elite really are. As long as they dismiss the true grassroots revolutionary aspect of what's happening with us Commoners, they will continue to make decisions that will, in the end, destroy them. Now the question is: With Rove gone, who will the Left blame for our opinions and actions? Perhaps thy will follow the Right's lead, and start blaming The People directly for daring to reject the continuing failure of the Elite both domestically and abroad.

Tammy Radio on Tape Today

Sorry about the 'Best Of' program today but I seem to be battling a bit of a chest cold. It's been creeping up on me as what felt like fatigue but early this morning it was obviously an effort at a chest cold. Whenever I feel a head cold or throat issue or something else knock on my door, I'm lucky in that if I lay low even for a day and sleep whenever my body tells me to I'm able to keep it from gaining hold, ruining several days instead of just one. So, that's my plan for today.

So I'm curled up on the Tammy Couch in the Power Shack, with my java. Sydney and Snoopy are staring at me, having no clue why we're hanging out and it's not Sunday, but then Snoopy jumps on Syd's head and they're back to the chase game.

Consider this your Open Thread in the meantime, as I will now take a gander at the news that's worthy of pontificating about. Or...what I would have spouted off on during Tammy Radio.

On Fox This Morning

My usual 10:20am ET (7:20am PT) segment. Have not been told what the subject matter is, but it will deal with a political headline of the day.

Wouldn't it be nice if I could spout off about the Michael Vick situation!

UPDATE:

Well, it wasn't about Vick. The segment focused on Newt Gingrich turning into Miss Cleo and 'predicting' that the Dems would nominate a Clinton/Obama ticket. That takes real insight. Inoted that it makes perfect sense, in that Hillary will be governing with her sex-addict husband (they see this as 'their' third term of course) and wouldn't want a VP who would actually have to be dealt with when it comes to ideas and policy. Instead, Obama would make the perfect little Clinton intern, waiting his turn for what everyone would assume would be an 8-year training period.

That is the arrogance which pervades the Clinton camp. I think they, like the Amnesty Repubs and Dems, will be quite shocked in November 2008 when they find out we can't be bought.

The Young America's Foundation Seminar

I have the pleasure right now of being in Santa Barbara as one of the presenters at the YAF's "Deconstructing the Left" Seminar for high school and college students.

I have to tell you, being able to participate in the program at the YAF, meeting and working with thoughtful, curious and engaged young people is incredibly inspiring for me. The group of about 40 students at this event is no different. They've come from all over the country, sponsored by the YAF, to hear myself, Andrew Breitbart, Ward Connerly, Peter Schweitzer and Steven Hayward on why the left does what it does, and what we can do about it.

Today's academic environment is one of the most difficult and oppressive for young people who identify as conservative. Typically, it's the left, which fancies itself as the protector of the 'different,' who work exclusively to ostracize and punish anyone who does not pledge allegiance to the leftist status quo. One of my goals this weekend is to make sure these young people leave here knowing that being today's 'conservative' means being the true Individualist, authentic to one's self, even yes, different, while also being able to embrace the values that make our nation great.

I embrace the Classical Liberal framework that smaller government is best if we want to live the lives that best suit us. Big government is an enemy to anyone who dissents, anyone who is different. That's why it's young people who do not confirm, who do not kow tow to the leftist status quo. These are the people who are the genuine protectors of individual freedom.

I hope to leave these students this weekend with an awareness of the fact that being different does make some things more difficult, but giving up yourself in the name of belonging, betraying your own beliefs, and buying into the death of right and wrong in particular (which is what the left asks of us) is far too high a price to pay to be invited to certain parties or picked for the basketball team.

These students get it. They are the bright and the courageous And it's the YAF which gives them the support and encouragement to continue in the most hostile of environments--our school and academic systems. But they are here, against all odds, which is another reason why I have so much faith in this nation and our future.

C-Span has been here all day today taping the program. As soon as I found out when they'll air it I'll let you know.

Tammy's Early Inspiration

A note by Maynard

Tammy and Emma!

Tammy Bruce, Emma Peel, Emma Peel
(Not necessarily in that order)

Those of us who were exposed to Emma Peel during our formative years have been haunted ever since. Tammy knows this and so do I. Some of you boys and girls may have been there too...

'Nuff said!

On Fox This Morning

thompson.jpg

Fred and Jeri Thompson

For my usual segment at 7:20am PT (10:20amET). Not sure yet what the subject is, but it will involve some of the politics of the day.

Hope you can tune in.

UPDATE:

Courtesy of Darlene, here's the video of this morning's segment.

The subject ended up being about the NYT's calling Jeri Thompson, Fred Thompson's wife, a "Trophy Wife" because she's younger than he is. So I guess that makes Jacqueline Kennedy a "Trophy Wife", too. She was 15 years younger than JFK. And that actress Nancy Davis, managing to get Ronnie Reagan to have her as his second wife! The horror!

As you know, I will not link to the trash known as the NYT, but fortunately for us, the EM is so fixated on perpetuating whatever Big Daddy NYT runs, they sometimes throw all pretense out the window and simply reprint NYT articles in their entirety. I guess it just saves the echo Chamber sometime.. Case in point, here's the article reprinted in the Houston Chronicle.

jjkennedy.jpg

A different president, another "Trophy Wife"?

UPDATE 10:13pm PT:

And absolutely excellent point made by Junie in Comments. I wish I had noted this on Fox this morning. Excellent.

Let's see, the Thompsons have a 25 year age difference, yet the Kucinichs have a 30 year age gap. Mrs. Thompson is branded a blond "trophy" wife in gold-lamé wedge sandals by the NYT, while Mrs. Kucinich is described as a "beautiful young woman" in the Washington Post. Kucinich even puts their love story on his 2008 campaign website. And here I thought there was no liberal bias in the mainstream media. ;)

Great job today Tammy....

kucinich.jpg

Kucinich and his Beautiful, Young, Not-a-Trophy Wife

Just so we're all clear, here are the rules. Republican man married to younger, beautiful woman, she's a Trophy Wife, and also probably a Gold-Digger. Democrat man married to younger, beautiful woman, she's, uh, just younger and beautiful.

Got it? Good.

On Fox This Morning about Terrorism and the Elections

Hope you all had a terrific weekend.

Somehow my initial post about the Fox discussion got overwritten. We did discuss how terrorism, now with the London bombings, will affect the '08 races. Of course, it's a stark reminder that terrorism exists and the enemy, unfortunately is still alive Maybe not entirely well, but alive nonetheless. This will prove to be tough for people like John Edwards, who claims there is no WoT, and Bob Beckel today also denied that there was a coalesced enemy. Dems will say anything to not have to face the tough questions about how to confront then enemy. By trying to ignore there is one is simply another form of surrender.

Ha! It's only Monday and I may already have my favorite email of the week. It gave me my first laugh of the morning. It's also a cautionary tale for everyone to make sure they know what they're talking about before the shoot off a message. Unfortunately, while rather amusing, this is the sort of thing also has the potential to make everyone on the so-called right look a little goofy. Now you know what some liberals complain about when they get emails from "conservatives."
