Drill here. Drill now. Yes, it will take some time to see the benefits, but when you hear someone complain that drilling now won't affect things for years to come, ask them if you should also stop saving for your retirement because you won't need that for years to come, either.

Bottom line, the years will go by, and it's not just about prices--it's also about cultivating energy independence, which includes our own oil and nuclear power.

The New "Fox Forum" Blog Debuts

fox_forum_header.jpg

Fox News has always had great blogs for their hosts and producers, and now they have established one for their contributors--yes, people like me, called The Fox Forum.

Today this new blog has gone live and I would love you to check it out. My posts at the Fox Forum will all be original and different from my posts here. I will have a daily pithy post about politics, probably in the range of 200-300 words. Today's post, "Hillary’s Rhetoric vs. Obama’s Hypocrisy" is a good example of what you'll be getting from me in that setting.

When there's a new post I'll alert you here, but remember, there are many others who will also be posting there. John Moody, as an example, the VP of the Fox News Channel, has a post just below mine about the image of God and religious accountability. I encourage you to make Fox Forum a regular hangout.

Angry Renters Against Mortgage Bailouts

You can put me in that category. And I know I'm not the only. There are, in fact, so many the folks at Freedom Works (led by Steve Forbes and Dick Armey) have set up a website where you Angry Renters can get organized and do something about renters and all taxpayers getting shafted in order to bail out the irresponsible who bought homes they could not afford. Whether you're an Angry Renter or an Angry Responsible Homeowner, check out their site and get organized. In the meantime, here's one of their videos I think you'll relate to it as much as I did.

Fox News: Most Trusted Name in News

Hmm, I bet this surprises CNN just a tad. (HT Inside Cable News via Hot Air).

A Sacred Heart University Poll found significantly declining percentages of Americans saying they believe all or most of media news reporting. In the current national poll, just 19.6% of those surveyed could say they believe all or most news media reporting. This is down from 27.4% in 2003. Just under one-quarter, 23.9%, in 2007 said they believe little or none of reporting while 55.3% suggested they believe some media news reporting...

The most trusted national TV news organizations, for accurate reporting, in declining order included: Fox News (27.0%), CNN (14.6%), and NBC News (10.90%). These were followed by ABC News (7.0%), local news (6.9%), CBS News (6.8%) MSNBC (4.0%), PBS News (3.0%), CNBC (0.6%) and CBN (0.5%).

In 2003, CNN led Fox News on "trust most for accurate reporting" 23.8% to 14.6%.

Tammy Peep Ashley Goes to Presidency IV

Ashley Matt here. I had the opportunity this weekend to be an Ambassador (fancy word for "delegate" or "attendee") at the Republican Party of Florida "Presidency IV" convention in Orlando, which took place Saturday and Sunday and culminated in the Fox News Debate on Sunday night. Tammy invited me to share some of my experiences and commentaries about the event on her blog. I’ll try to go over some details that may not have been available on the media broadcasts and that Tammy and I did not get to discuss on her show yesterday.

The events started with a Governor’s Luncheon, followed by a dessert reception with many elected officials, including our State Party Chairman, Governor, Lt. Governor, and Republican Congressional delegation to pump us up. The main theme of the convention soon emerged and was repeated in so many ways throughout the weekend: "No matter who the Republican nominee is, we must unite behind him to win the White House."

God=1, Pelosi=0

After the congressional "Acting Architect" removed the word "God" from a flag certificate for an Eagle Scout, we all got mad and the situation is magically reversed. I have a feeling God will always prevail, but it sure can get irritating sometimes.

Capitol Architect Lets 'God' Fly On U.S. Flag Certificates

The Architect of the Capitol, responding to a public outcry, ruled Thursday that, from now on, the word "God" may be inscribed on certificates accompanying flags that have flown over the U.S. Capitol.

Acting Architect Stephen T Ayers said in a statement that the policy of disallowing political and religious statements on flag certificates has been inconsistently applied and does not fulfill the objectives of the office.

"It is inappropriate and beyond the scope of this agency’s responsibilities to censor messages from members," Ayers said.

"The Architect’s role is to certify that flags are appropriately flown over the U.S. Capitol, and any messages on the flag certificates are personal and between a Member of Congress and his or her constituents,” Ayers said.

Well, that's nice, but it sure isn't what he was saying a few days ago. It's amazing how much sense angry Americans can instill in the cowards in Washington.

Man Attacks Spanish-Speaking Check Out Machine

johnwayne.jpg

I think getting whacked with a crowbar means the same thing in every language. I'd say we're mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore. (HT Ted Hayes)

Man takes pry bar to self-check till
Machine whacked after speaking to him in Spanish

Around 9 p.m., the man was in line at a self-service checkout stand, ready to buy a pry bar and a hacksaw, according to a Seattle police report. But, as a manager told an officer, the man accidentally hit the button on the computer screen for Spanish.

That was the tipping point for this consumer. He became "frustrated that the machine was speaking Spanish," the police report says.

So, instead of asking for help, he let loose a blow with the pry bar and shattered the computer. He ran from the store and made a beeline to some railroad tracks, the report said.

A Seattle police officer searched for the man, but didn't find him.

The manager believes he caused about $10,000 in damage. He left the pry bar in his shopping cart.

And if I knew where he went I'd send him another crowbar. This is almost as good as the poo in the senate during the amnesty debate.

Americans Fed Up-Majority Want Comprehensive Illegal Alien Crackdown

A new Rasmussen poll illustrates that Americans had have enough of the social, cultural and economic chaos brought by illegal aliens. Super majorities favor a cut of federal funding to "Sanctuary Cities" as well as ID cards and tracking for 'foreign visitors' in general, and we want that damn physical fence. Not a virtual one of cameras, and motion detectors. We want a real F-E-N-C-E. Which, btw, would not only make it more difficult for illegals to get into the country, it would also make slipping across the border back into Mexico, by fleeing mass murder suspects as an example, a tad more difficult as well.

71% Favor Requiring Foreign Visitors to Carry Universal ID Card

Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters nationwide favor cutting off federal funds for “sanctuary cities” that offer protection to illegal immigrants. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 29% are opposed. Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney proposed such a plan earlier this week.

By a 71% to 16% margin, voters also favor a proposal that would require all foreign visitors to carry a universal identification card as proposed by another GOP Presidential hopeful, Rudy Giuliani. Seventy-four percent (74%) also favor the creation and funding of a central database to track all foreign visitors in the United States.

By a 56% to 31% margin, voters want the government to continue building a fence along the Mexican border.

I do have a feeling, however, that Bush will not be discussing this sentiment of the majority of Americans when he meets with Harper and Calderon in the next few days. That's fine, let them waste their time as they wallow in their own little world. Bush is more than welcomed to spend his last 18 months in office fighting us abut whatever he wants. And we will win just like we did last time when the fate of our nation hung in the balance.

Our Senate Heroes

sessions.jpgvitter.jpg

demint.jpg

Senators Sessions, Vitter and DeMInt

Now that we finally have some closure on this debacle, there are a few heroes who now deserve a great deal of thanks. Calling is one thing, but you may want to actually send a snail-mail card. With emails these days, it's rare to receive a hand-written note. However you choose to thank them. let them know you're grateful for their standing up against what must have been incredible pressure, Dems and Repubs alike.

The men who we could count on from the outset, who were vocal when they did not have to be, and stayed vocal, are: GOP Sens. David Vitter of Louisiana, Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Jeff Sessions of Alabama.

senator_mccaskill.jpg

And as a Democrat I'm thrilled I can point to Claire McCaskill the Democratic Senator from Missouri . She was always reasonable and steadfast. She appeared on Lou Dobbs speaking articulately against the bill. She was vocal and public when she did not have to be. Reid will make her pay for that. You should see McCaskill as another hero, a senator who stood up for what is right despite the pressure she was placed under. Make sure she knows she's not alone and you appreciate the stand she took.

Here again is the Senate page with all contact information, including snail mail addresses. Make sure the heroes, and any other senator you want to thank, hears from you.

How Conservatives Are Like Cats

Conservatives tend to have that pesky thing called "minds of their own," but the continuing success of Amnesty Bill protest (not that we're done yet) proves that whenever all you cats get really focused, everything's possible :) And just think, the Senate probably dismissed you because you're all a bunch of half-wild shorthairs. Congress' Approval Rating At All-Time Low

godzilla2.jpg

Us

The Pelosi/Reid/Bush Congressional Freak Show has now made history. Pelosi thought she would go down in the history books, but I don't think she meant like this. Congress' approval rating is at an all-time low. Only 14% of Americans think Congress is doing a good job. That's an 86% disapproval rating.

Please let there be a certain point where it will just implode or evaporate or something. Like the tape in Mission: Impossible. In the event Congress won't self-destruct, I suggest we pass legislation (or change the Constitution if necessary) which would require the 'firing' of all members of Congress in the event their approval rating dips below 15%. In other words, if 85% of the American people have No-Confidence in Congress (with duplicate polls indicating the same number), new elections are immediately called, campaigning is limited, and the Feds put together an election within four weeks. They can shut the Eff Up and just do it. Existing office holders can re-run, so we can re-elect the good guys.

I realize there are details to work out, but for crying out loud, this is now ridiculous.

New Gallup data show confidence in Congress at all time low

This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.

Congress is now nestled at the bottom of the list
of Gallup's annual Confidence in Institutions rankings, along with HMOs. Just 15% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in HMOs. (By way of contrast, 69% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the military, which tops the list.

That last line as a little aside for the freaking Moonbats out there who think Congress being at the bottom of the list has something to do with being in Iraq, or what the military is doing, or because American is Imperialistic or something, Get an Effing Life.

So, Newsflash for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and every other fat, puffy white bastard up on Capitol Hill:

Military: Top of the List

Congress: Bottom of the List

Any questions?

Our goal? Let's get it to 90% Disapproval and see if that will cause Spontaneous Combustion. At the very least, these people should resign. Of course, we could send them some literature about the noble Japanese deed of Seppuku. But then Teddy would probably need help with his.

Amnesty To Return--Let's Give Them A Fight They Will Never Forget

audreyhungry.jpg

Audrey, aka S. 1348, is hungry. The senate, instead of killing it, has promised her a big, fat meal of America. Only we can make sure that doesn't happen.

**Bumped up with updates. After the jump is the list of 15 wobbly Repub senators who need to hear from you.**

The Senate Monkeys and the Tool in the White House have decided to try, one more time, to jam the Amnesty monster down your throat whether you like it or not. Well, in the words of Howard Beale, we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore. We have a job to do, so here's the background of what has transpired, and at the end of this post is the action you need to take. This is it folks, so since they want a fight, let's give it to them.

Reid has announced the amnesty bill will be back, in all probability, next week. Some insiders have noted to Fox that once they pretend to listen to amendments and then pretend to care, and vote them down, they will then have the 60 votes needed to stop debate and vote the monster in.

NumbersUSA reports:

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Minority Whip Trent Lott (R-Miss.), and others are now strong-arming members to accept a deal under which Republicans could offer about a dozen amendments with a set time for debate. Essentially, this continues the strategy proponents used prior to the failed cloture votes; that is, buying off votes for cloture by offering to get a hearing for senators’ amendments. From an immigration reduction perspective, the danger in this strategy is that open borders forces will seek to ensure that good amendments are killed on the Senate floor and that amendments that seek to negate the impacts of the amnesty and guestworker provisions that succeed are killed when the bill passes and is hashed out in conference committee. CongressDaily reports that Senate negotiators may finalize that list of amendments and present it to Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) today.

Many will make big noises about the Hutchison amendment that would require those wanting the Z-visa to 'touch' back home before they can begin the process. There is no such requirement for those who will get the Temporary Permanent visa. And then there's the president's offer of providing $4.4 billion dollars in emergency secure-the-border funding. There is no reason, however, to tie funding existing law with blanket amnesty and a bill that is a complete disaster and puts this nation's security at risk.

Time to Punish Amnesty Republicans

Now the Amnesty Bill is in a coma, it's time to start organizing the punishment of those who decided to sell out this nation and stomp on the Rule of Law to get a few votes. Here's just a starter list of those who need to be on our radar. McCain is already being punished somewhat as his presidential campaign continues to slip. In a recent poll, he is now in fourth place. Graham, of course, must be sent packing, into the Corn Field. His attitude and behavior were insulting, demeaning, patronizing and out of touch. There is already a movement afoot with Dump Lindsay Graham, a blog devoted to, well, dumping Lindsay Graham.

You peeps in Arizona have your work cut out for you as well. Isn;t it time to have senators who truly repreent your views? I understand Kyl was just reelected and sees anopther 6 years in front of him, but we in California enjoyed a thing called a "recall" when one of our politicians lost sight of what mattered. Yes, it's hard work, but exciting, and when it works, it's beautiful.

In the meantime, every time is a good time to chime in with these Amnesty Republicans, reminding them you're watching and waiting. The president is scheduled to go to the Hill on Tuesday in an effort to use his 29% approval rating to resurrect this monster, so maintaining communication with these freaks can't hurt.

Newt Compares Bush to Carter, Rips Amnesty Bill

Hot Air has the video. Here's your bite:

"The base of this party is looking up going,...Why are we ramming through an omnibus Teddy Kennedy bill and attacking Republicans who criticize it? And calling us, for example, as one senator did, "bigots" when all we're saying is, this government couldn't possibly implement this bill. There's no evidence at all this government is capable of executing this..."

And remember Peggy Noonan's point (which Newt refers to): You didn't leave President Bush or the Republican Party, they left you.

Your Memorial Day Weekend Amnesty Bill Action Plan

Eagle.jpg

**Bumped up just to make it easy**

As we discussed on Tammy Radio, you have some work to do this weekend as your congressional representatives come home for the Memorial Day holiday.

I think it appropriate that we must confront our senators and reps on weekend such as this, one that recognizes and honors the sacrifice of regular Americans, who have served and died to protect this nation's principles, values, and freedom. Let us honor those who have fallen even more by speaking up, and making sure those we have sent to Washington truly understand what it means to represent us, and the repercussions if they fail to do so.

KNOW WHERE YOUR REP STANDS

Numbers USA has an Action Center page which lists the finished votes and upcoming votes, as well a a vote tally in the amendment issues. Note, just because we're watching so-called amendments doesn't mean we're buying into the bill, it's the votes that interest us, as each amendment vote exposes where your senator stands.

Jawa Report has done an excellent job compiling a comprehensive list of how all the senators have been voting, and have divided up the list based on percentages of how often they have voted with the Kennedy/Spector Amnesty group. (HT Cynthia). An excellent resource.

They list only four senators who have consistently opposed the Kennedy/Spector Amnesty bill, having voted with the senate amnesty group zero percent of the time, i.e. never. Four lone heroes of the senate. If one of these is your senator, make sure he knows how much you appreciate what he's doing.

Baucus (D-MT) 0%
Coburn (R-OK) 0%
Johnson (D-SD) 0%
Vitter (R-LA) 0%

Representative Vitter proposed an amendment to strike the amnesty portion of the bill. Of course it failed, but over at NRO we now have on the record the hard-core Amnesty Republicans.

Sen. Vitter's amendment to strike the amnesty section from the bill was defeated this evening, but it might be an informative vote nonetheless for concerned citizens contacting their senators over the Memorial Day break. It was the first vote focused just on the question of whether we should give legal status to illegal aliens; it lost 66-29. Republicans voting against it — i.e., specifically voting for immediate amnesty — were Bennett, Burr, Chambliss, Coleman, Collins, Cornyn, Craig, Domenici, Ensign, Graham, Gregg, Hagel, Hutchison, Isakson, Kyl, Lott, Lugar, Martinez, McCain, Murkowski, Smith, Snowe, Specter, Stevens, Voinovich, and Warner.

David Limbaugh: Confronting the Donkey

We're at a point in time when we're all looking for some political clarity, and I have someone for you. As Democrats run roughshod over the president, the Bush administration doesn't think enough of itself to take charge of the situation, and other Republican leadership either saying nothing or actually siding with the malevolent Democrat leftist cut-and-run crowd, David Limbaugh is a man whose website offers his regular commentary and columns on the inexplicable situation we all face. If you don't already, with all the Usual Suspect sites we visit regularly and so much at stake, it's time to add David into our mix.

While I disagree with him on certain social issues, it's fair to say David and I, like all of us, find common ground in concern for our nation, the shocking lack of fortitude and commitment by Republicans leadership for genuine Reaganistic policies, and the unchecked power the Dems seem to be exerting over President Bush. All of these things cast a dark cloud over the future of our nation, and we must take control of the situation. David's current column is an example of his willingness to speak the truth about what we face and his clarity about the matter at hand.

Confronting the Donkey

I simply cannot believe President Bush withdrew Sam Fox's nomination for Belgium ambassador. When will he confront congressional Democrats with the same resolve he brings to the war on terror? He doesn't need to get down on their level of stridency and sniping, but he should scrap the illusion that they are operating in good faith and want to work collegially or constructively with him.

If the last six years prove nothing else, they show that Democrats are unwaveringly hostile to this administration. Bush's cordiality in return has only emboldened them to new heights of incivility...

But I am suggesting he stand up to these politicians who have made him their sworn enemy and that he go on the offense in getting his message out -- as passionately, unapologetically and relentlessly as the Democrats have. I am suggesting he challenge every one of their lies with the indignation they deserve...

Unless he [President Bush] devotes some energy toward making his case and defusing the Democrats' propaganda and slander, he'll make less headway in Iraq and the war on terror, and on domestic policy across the board. He'll do little to regain credibility with those who have bought into the lies about him, he'll further dispirit the conservative base, and the foundation for a conservative victory in 2008 will continue to erode...

Please read the entire column and distribute. David sets out what the president needs to do, and address the absolute absurdity of Defense Secretary Gates suggesting we close down Gitmo, as well as the Gonzales feeding frenzy.

David's call is a demand that Republicans, conservatives, and everyone who cares about this nation, must heed. It's a demand that we stand up and protect this nation from the nihilistic and destructive left. That we recognize the left's failure-based cult of victimhood is not in any way, shape or form a legitimate option let alone a morally superior preference.

Twain Has Our Thought For The Day

twain.gif

“The mania for giving the Government power to meddle with the private affairs of cities or citizens is likely to cause endless trouble, through the rivalry of schools and creeds that are anxious to obtain official recognition, and there is great danger that our people will lose our independence of thought and action which is the cause of much of our greatness, and sink into the helplessness of the Frenchman or German who expects his government to feed him when hungry, clothe him when naked, to prescribe when his child may be born and when he may die, and, in time, to regulate every act of humanity from the cradle to the tomb, including the manner in which he may seek future admission to paradise.” — Mark Twain

Bank of America Defiant, Vows Credit Cards for Illegals

After weeks of heat from Americans, Bank of America CEO Kenneth Lewis made it clear he doesn't care what Americans think, and issued a patronizing opinion piece via the Wall Street Journal explaining why they intend to continue with their credit cards for illegal aliens program. If you haven't acted yet, the time is now.

When Bank of America announced their plan to give credit cards to people without social security numbers or a credit history, they also insisted that it was not a marketing plan aimed at illegal aliens. Even though the marketing would be in Spanish, targeting Hispanics in the Los Angeles area. Yeah, no illegal aliens in that bunch.

With that absurd denial, BofA exposes the fact that they know what they're doing is at least unseemly, and at worst, supporting an illegal activity simply because there's money to be made. Normally that sort of action is left to criminals, not a major financial institution.

BofA is finally feeling the heat of reaction since this little project of their was announced, resulting in an op/ed piece on the Wall Street Journal by the CEO insisting (again) how this has nothing to do with marketing to illegal aliens. He also notes, inexplicably, how good it is to "bring foreign nationals" into the American banking system. Reality check for BofA Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis: al-Qaida relies on access to the American banking system. So do drug dealers, drug cartels, money launderers, and every other criminal element out there who are foreign nations intending to do this nation harm. To say nothing of the fact that assisting and legitimizing illegal aliens at a time when this nation's infrastructure is collapsing because of their use and abuse.

Tancredo Urges Support for Border Patrol Agents

On Representative and Presidential candidate Tom Tancredo's website, there's a way you can send a message to Border Patrol Agent Nacho Ramos. He is the agent who was beaten mercilessly, as John Walsh of "America's Most Wanted" notes, by 4-5 illegal aliens serving time in the same prison.

Here's the YouTube video by Representative Tancredo on the issue and how a word from you to our agents will make the world of difference for their morale.
