Christian BA employee to take legal action over suspension for wearing cross

A committed Christian said today she planned to take legal action against her employers British Airways after the airline ruled that displaying her crucifix breached uniform rules

Heathrow check-in worker Nadia Eweida was sent home after refusing to remove the crucifix which breached BA’s dress code…

Miss Eweida, who has an unblemished record during seven years at BA, is suing her employer for religious discrimination after being suspended from work without pay for two weeks.

She said her treatment was all the more extraordinary as she and fellow employees had just undergone “diversity training” – including receiving advice from pressure group Stonewall on how to treat gays and lesbians in the workplace…

She questioned why she was being forced to hide her religion when BA’s Muslim and Sikh workers could express theirs.

Miss Eweida said last night: “I will not hide my belief in the Lord Jesus. British Airways permits Muslims to wear a headscarf, Sikhs to wear a turban and other faiths religious apparel.

“Only Christians are forbidden to express their faith. I am a loyal and conscientious employee of British Airways, but I stand up for the rights of all citizens.”

So there you have it–there is to be tolerance for everyone except Christians. I think we can also presume that if Miss Eweida had worn a Star of David the result would have been the same. Heads up, my friends, as the British help facilitate the new Caliphate.

Tammy, this makes me sad, just plain sad in my soul. I am Christian and proud to be. I expect no better or worse treatment. It seems that being a Christian in this world now a days is a ‘sin’ and not politically correct. Then I read this statement from the brave employee,my sister in Christ….

“Only Christians are forbidden to express their faith. I am a loyal and conscientious employee of British Airways, but I stand up for the rights of all citizens.”

So I stand with her. If we do not stand up not only as Christians, but as people of faith and good conscience this world will begin to fall into a darkness that I fear most of all. Truly the Death of Right and Wrong.

unfortunately for them, they dont have the first amendment … i’d gladly join a nadia eweida defense fund … she’s obviously being discriminated against, since BA has approved the wearing of bangles by sikhs, despite their rules against jewelry …

“In a letter to Miss Eweida’s MP, Vince Cable, last week, BA chief executive Willie Walsh insisted his employee had not yet been disciplined but said she was off work for failing to comply with “uniform regulations”.

He added: “We have previously made changes to our uniform policy to accommodate requests, after a detailed evaluation process including Health and Safety assessment to incorporate the wearing of Sikh bangles.”

guess they need to do a “detailed evaluation” to show a small cross is no more a “health and safety” threat than are “sikh bangles.” …

there today … here tomorrow … unless we help.

Yes Trinity this also makes me sad but it does not shock me in the least. Eversince Christ told Peter he was the rock on which he would build his church and the gates of hell would not stand up against it, Christians have been persecuted. This is a form of persecution. While I cannot give exact chapters or verses of the gospel I can recall some of the things Jesus spoke of to his followers. 1) Anyone who wants to follow me needs to take up his cross and do so 2) You will be hated and even put to death in my name 3) He promised his followers true hapiness not in this life but the next and when the apostles were bickering among themselves who was the greatest and would have the “higher rank” in heaven Jesus replied they must be last here on earth to be first in Heaven. Anyway, when I read of the way Christians are treated I remember being a Christian is not going to be an easy road to follow and knowing God will give us the strength we need to do his will, whatever that may be if we have faith and hope in him.
