Years of the George Soros Left and the Establishment Media battering us with how horrible we are, about how we ‘torture’ prisoners, how the world hates us, and how we’re generally a bad people, hasn’t dented our pride as Americans.

Our disdain for government and the elite, however, has grown. A new Zogby poll confirms our ‘approval’ of congress is at 14%, a historical low, while President Bush’s approval rating, also in the dumper, is at 34%, a full 20 points higher.

Despite our disgust with our government in general, check out what they report when it comes to our opinion of America, our quality of life, and our pride in our nation:

…But on a personal level, Americans feel relatively secure and comfortable with their own finances and safety. Nearly 82 percent of Americans said they feel very or fairly safe from “threats from abroad,” and nearly 70 percent feel very or fairly secure in their jobs.

While 14 percent rated their personal financial situation as excellent and 10 percent as poor, the vast majority found themselves in the middle. About 43 percent rated their finances as good, and 43 percent as fair.

“Americans have made a serious adjustment. Their expectations have been tempered,” Zogby said. “With little faith in government, you feel you are pretty much on your own.”

Several years of headlines about possible torture of U.S. detainees, treatment of prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention center and international anger over the Iraq war has not dented the pride of Americans.

About two-thirds of the likely voters surveyed said they were “very” proud of the United States, with 22 percent saying they were “fairly” proud and 8 percent saying they were not very proud of their country.

This is why I have faith in us–we recognize the how low our government has gone, and yet we do not allow that failure to affect our overall view of our nation or our intentions as Americans. We have the wisdom and clarity of thought to not allow the Establishment Media to control what we think of our ourselves. We have not allowed the Left and EM’s cynicism and self-loathing and hate for this nation to infect us.

This is why, while on occasion we make mistakes because we’re optimistic, sometimes naive, people, we always make up for it. Last November was out mistake, and we will take this nation back in 2008. How that will manifest, I’m not sure yet, but I’m convinced we will do the right thing and put a man (it will not be a woman this time around) in the office who reflects the Reaganistic values that have helped to make this nation great.

Michael Moore is gonna be SO disillusioned by these poll results. Good thing they didn’t poll him – his vote is worth 20 normal votes due to his increased size and gravitational pull.

Peter, eventually his “useful idiots” will be orbiting his body and he would have created his own solar system!

So, the Democratic leadership in Congress continues to pander to the 8% crowd that hates America and then wonders why their approval ratings stay in free-fall. A lack of mental acuity may be at work here.

I’ve been musing on this possibility for a while, and the latest Zogby poll makes it even more possible.

How does a “if they’re in, they’re out” vote in 2008 sound? I don’t mean just an idle threat, but a true housecleaning. We showed what we can do on the immigration reform issue. How about it? Comments are exceptionally welcome.

    Hi,

Anyone have a URL for this poll (either the poll itself or reporting on it)?

Ballistic- I think many of us have been looking for a new broom since Shamnesty. Those who live in Rino districts earlier than that. They lost me back on 911, when the folks in Washington told us not to worry, because our government had already taken steps to secure- itself.
Hut- MM already has his “solar system”. It’s called the Traverse City Film Festival.
