Closing Gitmo is on hold says the Senate. I thought the place was a scourge, an affront to the Constitution. It was one of of the primary reasons the Europeans held us in contempt. Candidate Obama was very clear the facility had to be closed and followed through on it with an Executive Order. So why are the Democrats disgusted with the Prez for putting them in a predicament over closing Gitmo? Because hey, don’t you know those guys down there are terrorists? I thought you couldn’t even mention that word any more.

Yes, Bush also wanted to close Gitmo, but he was trying to work out a plan first.

So now those detainees are bad and military tribunals are not so bad. The Washington Post hails the Chief for his pragmatism over ideology.

It’s much more fun to spend money and take over corporations than this national security stuff.

Clearly the hollow rhetoric of the President’s unending campaign has collided resoundingly with the substantive arguments of those doggedly stubborn Generals in the Pentagon and with that one especially implacable and bitterly clinging General outside the beltway, the General Public. Perhaps after all it is the sworn mission of the Commander in Chief to safeguard even the unwashed and woefully unlearned wielders of bible and/or gun by keeping those who have vowed to kill each one of us out of our neighborhoods. At least our grasping representatives are able to grasp this simple concept.

    Tammy, come home.

We’re all in withdrawl, the country is in upheaval and by week’s end poor Pat will have to dragged to the microphone to keep us in line.

According to the accomodations, health care, nutrition, recreation, freedom and encouragement to practice an anti-freedom religion, and free legal advice on everything; not even the terrorists believe there are terrorists at GITMO.
Let’s face it they’d kill to get there; and are not dieing to get out.

Thank you for sharing this information! In relation to pubic awareness, we, the taxpayer are part of the building blocks of the U.S. financial system, and the sole reason for the existence of Federal and state governments. . The taxpayer, who has had their tax dollars allocated to aid large businesses short of cash, as a payday loan to improve the economy, has also had to worry about their employment being terminated by these very same companies. Neil Barosky was appointed as oversight for the bailout by Timothy Geithner, and he hasn’t come out with a report yet that explains why it is getting so much harder for the average taxpayer to get personal loans from the companies that we all paid for to bailout. Let’s just hope and work our best to gain back the firmness of our nations economy.

The Chicago SOB can’t even address his proposals without asking averyone to look backward. That’s how he get’s it by us. Still campaigning against Bush. His insecurity in his own integrity is the only thing that, to me anyway, is transparent.
If he’s so certain of his constitutional stands he would just go ahead; propose, get approval and act.
But the little pansy has to couch even his commitments with wiggle room so he can slip out if convenient. And, after all, he’ll never let the integrity get in the way of his convenience.

They are keeping Gitmo open so Obama and the current Congress will have a refuge after 2010
