ramsElisabeth Meinecke over at Human Events has an excellent piece on the rank hypocrisy of some in the NFL who were incensed over the idea of Rush Limbaugh bidding on the Rams. Here it is, with a HT to TAM Patricia 🙂

Rush’s Rams

For all the fuss over Rush Limbaugh’s attempt to buy the NFL’s St. Louis Rams franchise, you’d think he’d been torturing dogs or accidentally firing pistols in nightclubs.

Oh, wait: those are the players. All Rush Limbaugh has done is work hard for decades to build his personality and radio empire to dominate conservative talk radio. Yet, less than three months after the NFL conditionally reinstated a convicted felon, some of its associates and fans are complaining because Limbaugh wants to buy the Rams.

This group of critics includes an assortment of football players, the head of the NFL Players Association (DeMaurice Smith), and, of course, the Rev. Al Sharpton.

You know, it says something pathetic about the left that Rush Limbaugh has been on the air 3 hours a day, 49 weeks a year, for over 20 years and they have to resort to made up quotes to hurt him and his business endeavors.

What is even more pathetic is that the NFL has shown greater tolerance for murderers, drug dealers, rapists, and dog killers than a talk show host.

Whether a Rush fan or not, do read the whole thing. The reinstatement of Michael Vick was disgusting enough, now this display of utter hypocrisy is really unbelievable. I’m curious about how all of you feel about this as well, to say the least.

Rush is welcome in NASCAR. It’s nearly all Christian Conservative.

FOX-BECK-RUSH ANXIETY DISORDER is a virulent post-traumatic stress reaction to
Bush Derangement Syndrome. No vaccine – common sense conservatives of all ages seem to have a natural immunity.

It’s too bad that Rush never got a chance to become an NFL owner. He could have joined such elite company as George Preston Marshall (avowed racist who refused to integrate his Washington Redskins franchise), Leonard Tose (heavy gambler and womanizer who was eventually forced by the league to sell the Philadelphia Eagles), Robert Irsay (who snuck the Baltimore Colts out of town in the middle of the night and whose own mother called him the devil incarnate), and William Clay Ford (whose record of incompetence as owner of the Detroit Lions makes Urkel’s managerial skills look brilliant).

Well Rush Limbaugh is friends with a very skilled take no prisoners lawyer. (Mark Levin) I know he is a public figure but I think MSNBC went way over the line in trying to smear Rush. He may very well have grounds for a lawsuit. One more thing comes to mind though. I have no proof but this all smells suspiciously of the Obama whitehouse using their surrogate MSNBC to engage in political warfare with one of their biggest enemies. One thing liberals will not do is actually engage Rush Limbaugh on his arguments. They picked two or three things from his speech earlier this year and constantly talked about them while playing video of him bouncing up and down. When Rush Limbaugh said in that speech that he wants Obama to fail because he wants everyone to succeed nobody played that soundbite. When liberals speak of Rush spewing hate I do not see what they are talking about until I look at it through their eyes. When Rush espouses qualities that citizens should have in order for the civil society to thrive Liberal see that as an attack because they do not live those values. When somebody points out the things you are doing wrong it always feels like an attack whether it is coming from your parents a neighbor or a freind. The liberal then uses the word “hate” to describe what they are hearing.

Why is this surprising to anyone. I don’t understand the outrage, this is the norm. The left has been capitalizing on this form of intimidation for decades. Remember the Duke Lacrosse players. Tiwanna Brawley. How about OJ. So why as a culture do we indulge in this tripe. It’s simple…. money. Note, all these kinds of claims become about the individuals and not the issue. They are painted across our screens for a few days and in the end, everybody makes money. The sad part is, genuine racism becomes marginalized in the process of lending credibility to the manufactured variety…. the manufactured kind is far more profitable and that, my friend, is the American way…

Don’t you get it? They are all in FEAR. They fear that Rush Limbaugh will want to clean up the sport, ban felons and violent jerks that beat their girlfreinds, and actually expect players to be role models. How could they possibly make up a pro football team of law abiding, good, exemplary human beings? Impossible! NO THUGS?!!, C’mon! Get real.

The left may have just tried to torpedo the wrong guy! I hope and pray that Rush takes them on…he can show “harm” and libel. This may be just what we need….to stop the destroy your enemy liberals….they don’t care what they do or say just destroy… look at how they treated the Palin and her children…. GET EM RUSH!

This site does a breakdown of political contributions by NFL team. Though overall quite a few teams, players, and owners lean right, the NFL organization itself has a PAC that contributes primarily to Democrats – no surprise they barred Rush.

  9. Palin2012 says:

I am not a huge fan of Rush – love his base message, but this is absurd considering all of the felons we watch play the game! He will take this and make lemonade out of the lemons handed to him. Al Sharpton – please he has pimped out his own race and made millions – why do people listen to him? He’s like an”ambulance chaser” any opportunity for him to scream RACIST whether warranted or not – he is a pathetic caricature. I hope that Rush take this and runs with it – and I also hope that it will start a probe into other owners – their political positions. Maybe we can learn why murderers, rapists, animal torturers are overlooked, while a good Conservative is thrown out post haste.

Will I be allowed to buy Sarah Palin’s new book? Or will I have to ask permission from a lying race hustler like Sharpton? The chowderheads in the NFL have seriously disappointed me in the way they have treated a free man who wanted to help buy a sports franchise. The league is no longer worthy of my time or money.

Tammy, being from St. Louis and a football fan, the events of this week have been very disturbing. All summer long I had a bet with a friend that no team would want anything to do with Micheal Vick, I of course lost that bet.A member of the St. louis rams (Leonard Little) was involved in a drunk driving accident years ago that killed a St. Louis woman, he did 4 months in a halfway house, last year he was caught drinking and driving again, he is still a member of the team. The most decent man to ever be involved in St. Louis sports KURT WARNER was tossed aside like a bag of garbage because he had one bad season (due to an injury). Every Sunday night the country is treated to the disgusting face of Kieth Olberman, a man who is hateful and has no talent. Rush would have been a great for the city of St. Louis, he is a winner. Will the media ever be held accountable 4 the great harm they are doing to our country?

Rush should sue for tortious interference. Juan was right – plus the song was pretty funny after all. Someone tell Juan that sadly, all the real men he is pining for to show up and speak the truth, are mostly, well, gone.

Peace out (um…that’s a suggested new name for Steele’s website should “What Up” not catch on).
