Just home from Johnny’s Birthday in Vegas Weekend and thought it would be wise to have an Open Thread for everyone regarding all the news, big and small. As of this posting at 10pm PT, I’m prepping the Weekend Update which will include commentary on Egypt, Palin in Reno, Obama partying as the world burns, details of the Republican plan to have internet service providers make a record of the sites you visit, and how, er, Boehner wants to make sure we all know that he’s willing to play gold with Urkel.

Here’s some linkage for those Weekend Update topics:

As Egypt Burns…Obama Parties

“Mummies in the country’s natl museum were destroyed by looters attempting to steal the treasures of King Tut”

Obama will go down in history as the president who lost Egypt

Leslie Gelb: Beware Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood

Caroline Glick: The pragmatic fantasy

The new House Republican initiative? A push to force Internet companies to keep track of what their users are doing. GOP pushing for ISPs to record user data

Cry Baby Appeaser. Not that I have an opinion. Boehner: Of Course I’m Willing To Play Golf With The President

Now, to make up for all that crap, here’s a piece of bright news:

Looks like Sarah Palin did a fantastic job & wowed the Safari crowd in Reno Saturday night 🙂

Tammy: I am an amateur Egyptologist, who has contacts via a forum of professionals. I have been following the ground reports from the archeologists in country, and will continue to do so. I have a post that is being continuously updated.

The big picture: The loss to historians and archeologists is UNIMAGINABLE. Rare Old Kingdom sites have been pillaged. Two of the most famous and best preserved mummies in Egyptology, those of King Tutankhamen’s grandparents, have been beheaded and robbed.

and so our internets can be shut down just as easily as was done to the egyptians one of our beloved, esteemed northern RINOs has reintroduced the Kill Switch legislation- so urkel can get his egyptian dictator on right quick if you start barking too loud:

    http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/01/kill-switch-legislation/

“The resurgence of the so-called “kill switch” legislation came the same day Egyptians faced an internet blackout designed to counter massive demonstrations in that country.

The bill, which has bipartisan support, is being floated by Sen. Susan Collins, the Republican ranking member on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The proposed legislation, which Collins said would not give the president the same power Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak is exercising to quell dissent, sailed through the Homeland Security Committee in December but expired with the new Congress weeks later.”

Tammy, to me the solution is simple regarding “The Cry Baby” (Boehner); the GOP House need to have a No-Confidence Vote on the Speaker of the House and Elect a new Speaker, nothing personal, it’s just business.

Boehner (next one in line) is not the right person for this ‘renewed’ conservative push in the USA……….nothing personal, it’s just business.
