Whatever her faults, whatever her failings, she did not deserve this. And of, course, they’re reading all sorts of things into Palin’s website with the crosshairs. And you KNOW the libtards are going to be screaming for gun control, even louder than before.
I, for one, am praying for her recovery.

Another flaming twisted nutbar that didn’t fit in goes postal to get the attention he never got. This nation has grown a hefty flock of these throw away people who are like cancerous cells of the body. You don’t poison, or massively nuke the whole body to get rid of these cells. You surgically remove them when you find them. You don’t throw out a whole loaf of bread when you find a small piece with mold, you cut it out lest the whole loaf gets spoiled. Hopefully now we won’t call for the burning of the whole loaf.

What does Obama mean, she was a friend of mine?

    • thierry says:

urkel’s main home slice rahm emmanuel recruited her to run- she was part of the blue dog democrat pack to take back congress. she voted for obamacare.

Is anyone watching Fox News? Shepard Smith is reading this guy’s statements. He focuses on how the currency is not backed by gold. Smith says it over and over again. I’m interested in how the media will report this. Over at HillBuzz, they are reporting about someone’s blog post at that crazy DailyKos site. Here it is: http://hillbuzz.org/2011/01/08/my-congresswoman-voted-against-nancy-pelosi-and-is-now-dead-to-me-eerie-daily-kos-hit-piece-on-gabrielle-giffords-just-two-days-before-assassination-attempt-on-her/

DailyKos has removed the post. I’m hoping someone lets the local authorities know about this bizzare post. I’m wondering if there is a link to this post and the shooter?

    • Foreverautumn says:

I’ve just seen the video. snit. It impresses me as typical conspiracy theory “logic.” I’ve also seen Slimfemme’s link about the DailyKos. I think this guy could qualify as a leftist whackjob – oh, wait a minute. I keep forgetting – only those on the right are whackjobs; those on the left who flip out like this are just “abberations.”

  14. Maynard says:

One of Tammy’s tweets included a link to this article by Krauthammer, written in the wake of the Ft. Hood shooting.

What a surprise — that someone who shouts “Allahu Akbar” (the “God is great” jihadist battle cry) as he is shooting up a room of American soldiers might have Islamist motives. It certainly was a surprise to the mainstream media, which spent the weekend after the Fort Hood massacre playing down Nidal Hasan’s religious beliefs.

“I cringe that he’s a Muslim. . . . I think he’s probably just a nut case,” said Newsweek’s Evan Thomas. Some were more adamant. Time’s Joe Klein decried “odious attempts by Jewish extremists . . . to argue that the massacre perpetrated by Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs.” While none could match Klein’s peculiar cherchez-le-juif [this phrase translates to something like “seeking the Jewish angle” —Maynard] motif, the popular story line was of an Army psychiatrist driven over the edge by terrible stories he had heard from soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan…

It’s a world of “spin”, and a story can be spun any way you like. Ft. Hood was spun one way (sympathy for the guilty, and insistence that the shooting is nothing other than isolated and personal), but this incident will be spun another (condemnation for the innocent, and declaration of mass complicity). In this post-Constitutional era, I worry about a Reichstag fire scenario. Incidents like this become an excuse to take America another step closer to totalitarianism. Our leaders will not let a crisis go to waste.

“President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said here today.”

as a quasi-related aside- more an off hand observation- rep. giffords is jewish.

  15. makeshifty says:

I agree with Foreverautumn. Whatever she did, she didn’t deserve this, and of course the other people who were at the event didn’t deserve it, either. So sad.

Unfortunately, this incident is reminding me of the Oklahoma City bombing in a way. There had been a growing, what was then called “patriot movement,” that was setting itself up in opposition to what Clinton was doing. Some of the stuff I heard about that was going on within it would’ve driven me away. However, I joined a local patriot group back then that was non-violent. We mostly talked about legal structure and the Constitution, and what scary stuff was going on with the “new world order” back then. The OK City bombing happened around the time the group disbanded for lack of interest. The media jumped all over the patriot movement for the bombing, talking about “dangerous, angry white people” joining militia groups. It’s already starting up again. The first I heard about this incident was through the AP, and the story lumped several other violent attack incidents involving right wingers/Tea Partiers in conjunction with it. All the media needs is some nut to crack and they tar the whole movement for it.

I’m confused, though. Is Rep. Giffords still with us? I see from this posting there are conflicting reports about whether she’s alive or dead. Here’s hoping she recovers.

    • Tammy says:

Let me make something clear here: this shooting has nothing to do with real-life politics, or how normal, reasonable people view the real world. It smears *everyone* who is not insane and involved in politics to suggest that the Tea Party or any other patriotic, violence-free movement is somehow attached to, or responsible for, what happened. As one Tweep put it, this guy was from the party of PSYCHO. To be blunt, to try to explain mass murder as some sort of reaction to the normal political discourse is not only wrong, but sloppy and irresponsible. The equivalent would be explaining Ted Bundy’s motives as a result of the nature of the relationship between men and women. And yes, Giffords, thank God, has survived and is expected to recover. We do not know what *kind* of recovery tho.

  16. blackbird says:

To the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today’s horrific shooting in Arizona, May you find comfort in God’s loving embrace…

Although there are no words to sooth the pain, its all that I have to share, these are not my words…

A story is told of an Eastern village which, through the centuries, was known for its exquisitely beautiful pottery. Especially striking were its urns; high as tables, wide as chairs, they were admired around the globe for their strong form and delicate beauty.

Legend has it that when each urn was apparently finished, there was one final step. The artist broke it — and then put it back together with gold filigree.

An ordinary urn was then transformed into a priceless work of art. What seemed finished wasn’t… until it was broken.

So it is with people! Broken by hardships, disappointments and tragedy, they can be either discarded or healed. But when mended by a hand of infinite patience and love, the finished product will be a work of exquisite beauty — a life which could only reach its completeness after it was broken.

If you feel broken remember… you are a work of art! And you may not actually be complete until the pieces are reassembled and bonded with a golden filigree of love.

    • Maynard says:

Sorry, but I have to say this. A “broken urn mended with a golden filigree” is a fancy term for a picturesque crackpot. (“Broken urn” = “cracked pot”.)

And, yes, to be human is to have some of that in us. We are all, to some extent, broken vessels.

The name “Israel” was given to the patriarch Jacob after he spent the night wrestling with a mysterious stranger who was, in fact, an angel of the Lord. The blessing Jacob received for his odd triumph was a new name. It means, “man who wrestled with God”. I think this captures the essence of the human conflict.

      • blackbird says:

Hi Maynard, although not completely understanding your point on the meaning of the “Broken urn” thank you for the last paragraph, I did not know of the “man who wrestled with God” and researched Genesis 32:24-32.

    • thierry says:

people with severe, debilitating mental disturbances- like process schizophrenia, paranoid type, have a self awareness and awareness of the world that can be so disturbed, distorted and irrational – suffused with paranoid thoughts and populated with threatening conspiracies against them, they do not have the cognitive ability to appreciate their own gilded cracks, cracks that are quite literally eating them alive psychologically. they have no ability to stand outside their own minds to see how there are no black helicopters following them or that the cable company hasn’t placed wires in their brains. they cannot see in their broken state how those around them are trying to help them but rather turn them also into persecutors, assassins and enemies . there is no known ‘cure’- talk therapy is next to useless as is preaching at them . they often refuse any medication because they do not see themselves as ‘sick’ but as aware, hyper aware of what others are ignoring. a loved one succumbed to such a disease. it is the most destructive long term act of violence i have ever had the heartbreaking misfortune to witness decimate a human’s very essence- all that makes them who they are. mercilessly extinguished by their own ‘hand’ . it was brutal- there was nothing unique and beautiful nor redemptive about it.

the cracks are actually held together with the most corrosive and ugly substances one can imagine- a mixture of hopelessness, despair and unending all encompassing soul crushing fear. it’s the fear i recall and it still makes me cringe. ugly savage and unspeakably cruel when the mind turns against itself.

we only indulge and reinforce their maladaptive behaviors when we view them in such a, all be it kindhearted and generous ,romantic fanciful manner. it’s a form of denial for the beholder’s benefit only. it squares the sufferers more firmly in the abyss by making them a poetic archetype more easily digested and explained away by society rather than directly confronting a severely disturbed human being destroyed from the inside out- a disturbed human who might hurt another human but is statistically more likely to only hurt themselves. this guy saw himself as some sort of romantic hero, who was gifted with some divine insight others lacked, being persecuted by an immoral government- why prop up his deadly delusions by making the picture more aesthetically pleasing and equally as separated from reality as he is ?

      • blackbird says:

Hi thierry, the story about “…people! Broken by hardships, disappointments and tragedy…” is meant for the families who lost loved ones and those affected by the horrific shooting in Arizona. I am very sorry for the confusion.

    • Tammy says:

      Nice post, thanks blackbird

  17. tabbywabby says:

While interviewing Trent Franks, Shep Smith said they are getting reports that she is beginning to respond to commands from doctors. Such good news! I pray for her complete recovery and am so thankful that her children have not lost their mother. As for the others whose family members did die, including a child, what a terrible burden and tragedy for them. Hopefully they will find some solace when the shooter is put to death.

    • tabbywabby says:

Small correction: I thought I had read that she had two children, but the are stepchildren from her husband’s previous marriage. Just wanted to set the record straight.

  18. ChrisL says:

Rep Giffords, her family, and all the other victims of this mad boy’s insane actions are in my thoughts and prayers. May she have a miraculous recovery, and may the dead rest in peace.

If you haven’t already, check out Atlas Shrugs. I totally agree this suspect is a head case. But, naturally, many on the left are all too quick to point fingers. Also, contrary to the TEA Party and Palin blamer’s idiotic assertions, this sick twist is a total lefty.

  19. 1ntbtn says:

May God be with and comfort all who were victims of this totally loose cannonball. My love and prayers go out to all of them as well as with our deteriorating country.

  20. Kaisersoze says:

One thing that got under my skin in this tragedy was the tweets from Markos Moulitsas immediately after the shooting, before any facts were known. Especially the one saying “Mission Accomplished, Sarah Palin”.

I think there a great story that Tammy would be perfect to write, one about a conservative woman so strong that her mere existence shows the world the blind hatred and unthinking bigotry of leftists like Kos. Mission accomplished, Sarah Palin.

  21. Dianna_in_Columbus says:

It should be no surprise that the ghouls are already out in force trying to exploit this for a political edge. Even as evidence mounts that this guy was mentally unstable and had a criminal background, they are still trying to blame “vitriolic rhetoric” of radio and tv personalities as a motive for the shooter.
