Here is the Thursday edition of the Palin Lounge, which will update through the day. Scroll down for additional links and commentary. And as with the other Lounges, the usual no-links rule is lifted due to the nature of lounging and sharing 🙂 Comments including links, however, will still be moderated. Also, please link to original sources, not just back to your blog (unless, of course, the original work is at your blog, such as the articles at C4P 🙂 Thanks.

So let’s start!

Lmao @ Washington Hoe asking for pathetic losers to sift thru Palin’s
emails looking for dirt. Conjures up an image of a bunch of Smeagols sifting
thru a $hit pile for a kernel of corn. “We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious.” Happy hunting freaks.

    • rosebud2186 says:

NPR covered the email release this morning. They actually didn’t sound like they were expecting anything to surface, but then those NPR announcers sort of sound like zombies anyway.

I applied to WaPo to be an email reviewer for their Palin project with this submission:

    *************************

I would be delighted to help, as it is obvious to me the coverage by the elite media of Sarah Palin has been lacking in the rudiments of basic journalism: sticking to who, what, where, when, why and how.

Allow me to assist you in scouring the many emails, which will surely include such enlightening details as childcare arrangements, request for office supplies, and committee schedules that are surely going to offer meaningful insights that will improve life for Americans everywhere. I think you will be truly living up to your 1st Amendment responsibilities in this endeavor!

I am a little concerned if I fail to participate that you will utilize professional reporters to look through the emails. That means they won’t be able to cover such essential topics as the 61 Trillion in unfunded mandates hanging over our economy, the increasingly poor job news and the fact people have longer periods of unemployment in the Obama economy, continued involvement of the US in Libya and potential US actions in Yemen, and other key topics that your editors seem to rate secondary to uncovering some vast Palin scandal. Therefore, I view helping you as my patriotic duty.

    **************

I don’t think I will make the cut. But I will keep you posted!

By the way, the comments at WaPo and a post on the NYT with a similar request demonstrates clearly the total lack of respect the public has for both this tactic and the elite media types who are trying to implement it. The comments section is well worth looking over, because I have noticed a real uptick in the Palin-supporting comments in all Palin-related articles recently. It is very heartening.

I have noticed people becoming more supportive of Gov. Palin as time marches on – and this is a good thing. I know with my own operation, I’m not having to devote nearly as much time to defending her as prior and can focus more on simply getting her message out. People are starting to see the media caricature of Gov. Palin for what it is – a caricature – and a grossly inaccurate one at that. Even my wife, who is a leftist is coming around! That says something. Hopefully, The Undefeated will go mass-market – and also be offered in a condensed “Cliff Notes” version. Bringing Gov. Palin’s record and accomplishments to the forefront is paramount. It’s something we need to do aggressively and constantly. We should not be spending most of our time playing defense.

Some info in Politico about “The Undefeated” movie. Steve Bannon is planning for a nation-wide release in theaters and perhaps selling it in Wal-Mart. He may hold off providing details of the movie’s roll-out until Weinergate is off the radar screen.

I think it’s rather amusing that this article refers to Tammy Bruce as a “sympathetic media personality”. Gee, I thought you were a “chick with a gun and a microphone”! Hmmmm …

  5. Palin2012 says:

I think she will announce on July 4, virtual bets anyone?

    • BostonBruin says:

My latest prediction is June 25th, since that is exactly 500 days until Nov 6, 2012. But July 4th is a good guess as the Gov. tends to make big announcements on important days. However, I’m not sure she’d announce until after the Sudan/England trip in July, but I would not expect her to announce the dates of that trip for security reasons.

The big date to keep in mind is the Iowa debate and straw poll on August 11/13. Romney is skipping both which has folks in Iowa very unhappy (article over at HotAir). The deadline for getting her name on the straw poll ballot is late July (23 or 26). I think she’d want to participate in that debate and poll.

  6. kennjac says:

I dont think she is running. Perry is getting in.

    • Tammy says:

I’ve cautioned other people before and I’ll do it again–do not jump to conclusions when it comes to Governor Palin based on media reports, or single events. If Governor Palin wants to be president nothing will stop her, and I think she wants it. No other candidate will dissuade her from running. Guessing at this point that she’s not running would be a mistake.

    • Maynard says:

You might be right. I can’t see Palin throwing her weight behind the current likely candidates. But Perry’s entry, were it to occur, might change that. Tammy, who watches these things more closely than I do, sees Palin as being more likely to run than to endorse. But I’m not sure about that.

I know I’m out of step with most TAMs on this point. But I see Palin as a poor candidate but a vital ally. Her base is limited but very enthusiastic, and enthusiasm makes all the difference. So if the Republican candidate is other than Palin, he or she is going to need Palin’s enthusiastic support to get the Palin base on board. That Palin is needed gives her power to set the campaign, and ultimately the national, agenda. At this moment, her power lies in the ambiguity of her situation. In that sense, I’m helping her by maintaining that ambiguity within this forum. As Tammy notes, the Republican establishment would rather Palin just vanish away. When Palin makes it clear that she’s not going anywhere, can she then force the Republican machine to take a different, better course? That’s the key question. Some think the Republican machine doesn’t need Palin, and some think Palin doesn’t need the Republican machine. But I think Obama, as rotten as is he, will be a formidable opponent. His coalition of racialists, left-wing ideologues, and money-sucking special interests will hang together. So the Republicans, both true and RINO, along with independents, must find common ground. If that sounds too compromising, well, you can shoot me. I’m an idealist too. And I know I’m doomed to be compromised, because nobody who can get elected will do what I want.

Sorry, I rambled on for a while in some attempt to define the outline of a view. And with only marginal success. Well, take it or leave it, it’s fine by me. History will judge us, not the volume of our arguments.

      • LJZumpano says:

I think we need to get an umbrella for Maynard. Raindrops keep falling on his head. Read carefully what he says, and see the points we often neglect to factor in when dreaming about the 2012 POTUS run.
First and foremost is that the BHO camp has no intention of losing, and we have seen how they will disregard the law, will lie, will cheat to get what they want. Few will dare to challenge them. A billion dollars is a lot of street money, and mobs, thugs and hooligans are nothing new in America.
Second consider the Republican Party is not the party of honor, apple pie and American values. It is just as corrupt and just as power hungry as the Democrat Party.
In 2012 we are fighting against an attitude and culture that no longer represents us. Maybe it’s our fault for falling asleep on the job, for thinking that our democratic republic didn’t need our constant attention, but we are awake now. And we’re ringing those Paul Revere bells to alert others. Yes, it is scary at times, but it is even more scary to think about what happens if we don’t do our very best right now. The greatest generation, living through the depression and World War II, never considered that they were doing anything exceptional. They were Americans and they behaved as Americans behaved. Now it’s our turn.

I think Sarah Palin is going to run for president, and I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if she announced it on The Tammy Bruce Show!

  9. BostonBruin says:

Here’s a wild thought which comes from the article over at HotAir about Iowans being angry with Romney for dismissing their state. While Romney initially said he was committed to Iowa, he may have decided against it when the rumors got started that Perry was going jump into the race.

It’s a known fact that Gov’s Palin and Perry are good friends. Could they have conspired together to scare Romney out of Iowa? What is the net result? Gov. Palin now has an excellent chance to win Iowa. But, more importantly, Romney has gone on the record in support of ethanol subsidies which he probably said to pander to the Iowan voters. These subsidies are nothing but a big government bail-out and Gov. Palin now has a major issue to beat-up Romney about.

  10. BostonBruin says:

Here’s another interesting development I found at C4P (h/t HRH40). The Gov. has added three Christian women’s conferences on her schedule in October (Mississippi), March (South Carolina) and April (Alabama).

Now before any Palinista’s have a heart attack, I believe she can speak at these events and get paid as long as they are not campaign events – her speech cannot be political, she can’t setup a SarahPAC table in the foyer, etc. So, she can still be running for the Presidency and have these events on her schedule. Brilliant!

    http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/7969317156.html

    • Ginger says:

maybe she could either cancel them or do them without pay if there is a problem…that sounds like a somewhat tricky circumstance if she’s actually declared a candidate, but I believe in her enough to know that she can handle the situation!

      • BostonBruin says:

Ginger: here’s a link to an IRS document that states there is no problem with Gov. Palin speaking at these events since she will be there to “share her personal testimony of faith”. Check the bullet points under ‘Speaking or Participating as a Non-Candidate’.

  11. BostonBruin says:

Oh, this is rather funny news that a friend just pointed out to me. The GOP New Hampshire debate on CNN is scheduled for Monday, June 13th. That’s also the night of game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals between Boston and Vancouver. If my Bruins win tonight, then they could clinch the Cup on Monday.

Bottom line: NO ONE in NH will be watching the debate!
