Another runaway cow story with a happy ending.
Cow that spent 9 months on run learns to relax at rescue farm
A runaway cow that survived months in the wilderness has been rescued and is now lazing around a farm in Summerland. “She is doing magnificently here,” said Deborah Silk of Critteraid, an animal rescue charity that runs the farm. “She spent a lot of time in the wild, so is still a bit feral, but is settling down to life here.”
It survived, living off the grass in the bog and the kindness of strangers who fed it hay when winter fell. On Dec. 11, when someone contacted Lifeforce and Hamilton learned of the cow’s plight, he took action.
“This was a herd animal that had been living on its own with no experience at all,” he said, “It was seen being chased into the Fraser River by vicious dogs; there are coyotes around, it was cold.”
He spent several days getting to know the cow: “She was quite wary of humans – only accustomed to four people who were feeding her,” he said.
The Critteraid Canadian Disaster Response Team was called in to help. While the cow was eating they set up temporary fencing and then cajoled the cow into a trailer. The cow, name not given, is settling into life on a farm in Summerland with an alpaca and a donkey. After her ordeal the word is she is now starting to make friends.
UPDATE: Nice work imacat!

Took a little digging to find her picture, but here she is, Lady Antebellum the Cow!

Lots of parallels. I’m thinking they should name her Tammy.
The story is sort of allegorical. Alienation, desolation, faith and renewal. After a winter of solitary struggle, a life with friends in Summerland.
Tammy, have you caught that Bachmann disorder, thinking you’re someone that you’re not? We like you just fine as a girl from LA, in a shack with the coolest radio show on the planet and lots of human and animal friends! 😀
On the other hand, if I can be a cat… 🙂
u*r*acat
Well, I’m really not a cat but I live with 5 of them so it does get confusing sometimes!:) I suppose if you really wanted to you could call yourself “imacow”, or maybe the Critteraid folks could call the cow “imaTAM” in honor of us honoring her. LOL!
An alpaca, a donkey and a cow mosey into a Bar…
