Seeing it in color really brings home the ‘reality’ of history and the heroism of all involved. Here are five of the shots, all 26 can be seen at Time/LIFE.

Wow. God Bless and thank you to all who liberated Europe from a Nazi domination. America will always be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Tammy Bruce & new media — doing the job the Creep-in-Chief won’t/is too busy to — besides, we wouldn’t think he actually meant it anyway.

Thanks for posting, Tammy. Even rarer than these impressive photos: Obama commemorating D-Day.

What’s interesting is that after the great loss of life and destruction, the allies worked with their former enemies to rebuild. Three leaders who lived through that chaos and contributed to the fall of communism, Reagan,Thatcher and Pope John Paul 2,were able to also contribute to the rise of Germany’s reunification. Thus something as beautiful as the baroque Cathedral of Dresden once again stands in splendor.

It’s almost surreal to see these in color!

    Thanks Tammy.

The first photo was the most incongruous of the set: Soldiers marching towards battle through a well-kept garden in England. A few photos further on in the Time-Life series shows similar soldiers marching through a demolished garden in France. Talk about a dichotomy of experiences!
