As Jim over at Gateway Pundit notes, “This is getting a little creepy.” At first I was extremely skeptical, but I clicked through to the blog he links to and the details look convincing. I’ll be keeping that slightly skeptical eye on things, as nothing surprises me these days.

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.
DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.
Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.
The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).
This is making me nervous. What’s next? Is DHS buying 49 million pairs of striped pajamas? barbed wire? cattle cars?
Here’s a possibility; signing a memorandum of understanding with the UN to share these resources with UN security personnel here in USA.

Yes, that’s a weird little clip that ought to cause people to pause and think, because it carries some extremely serious baggage. Even if you want to accept Obama’s intent as benign, you’ve got to acknowledge that the “just as powerful” statement indicates preparation for large-scale warfare in the American heartland. In other words, something no less serious and devastating than the Civil War. (I believe there are restrictions in the Constitution against the army being deployed against Americans, except in cases of actual rebellion. Presumably this civilian force Obama envisions would not be similarly encumbered.)
Let’s see, rubber tires can still be deflated. Diesel engines don’t last long with their radiators damaged. Molotov cocktails will make them uncomfortably hot…….

well it will be soon time to learn how do produce and remote detonate IEDs when these damn things start patrolling US cities! Military armament belongs locked within military bases, or on the battlefield, not to a hurricane relief effort, or to serve so called High risk warrants. Our government is sick!! I will never stand for this. The urban assault vehicles are painted Police Rescue!! What a joke. Police have zero use for such things. The damn things are mine resistant!! How many times have I read a story like this the past 5 years and pushed it aside, giving the benefit of a doubt.
I wouldn’t even repeat those stories because I thought it was people being paranoid.
After all, we live in the best country on Earth…the land of Freedom!!! This will NEVER happen in the United States of America!!!!!
Problem is, many of those stories that I pushed to the back on my mind, are starting to happen.
We’ve gone from a little creepy to a lot creepy.
