Jurors reach verdict in Jodi Arias trial in Arizona

Jurors reached a verdict Wednesday in the trial of Jodi Arias after deliberating about 15 hours over four days on whether the former waitress should be convicted of murder in the 2008 fatal stabbing and shooting of her one-time boyfriend.

Arias, 32, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Travis Alexander, a motivational speaker and salesman, at his suburban Phoenix home. Authorities said she planned the attack in a jealous rage after being rejected by the victim while he pursued other women.

Arias initially denied involvement and later blamed the killing on masked intruders. Two years after her arrest, she said she killed Alexander in self-defense. Jurors got the case Friday afternoon. They reached a decision late Wednesday morning. It was scheduled to be announced at 1:30 p.m. local time.

UPDATE: Found guilty of 1st degree murder. Sentencing hearing begins tomorrow.

Justice – Jodi Arias found GUILTY of First Degree Murder.

The victim Travis Alexander suffered nearly 30 knife wounds, was shot in the forehead and had his throat slit before Arias dragged his body into his shower. He was found by friends about five days later.

Thank G-d I was not on duty today. You could not have paid me enough to be anywhere near downtown Phoenix. Fox 10 here in the PHX snagged the first post-conviction interview with Arias, and the act was Oscar-worthy. I did spend a couple of days in court when she was first cross-examined by the prosecution, and I saw all the telltale signs of sociopathy then. When I saw today’s interview, I couldn’t believe that she still thinks anyone believes her.

She acts no different than any other prison inmate I’ve dealt with. She has an excuse for everything and an act to match.

    In historical justice news: http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2529292?slideout=1

“On this day, May 10, in 1875, former slave Bass Reeves was sworn in as a deputy U.S. Marshal in Fort Smith, Ark., becoming one of the most feared and fearless lawmen in the Old West. Reeves was hired by “the Hanging Judge,” Isaac Parker, to help bring justice to the vast Indian Territory, a haven for outlaws. Reeves was an expert with pistol and rifle, spoke several Indian languages and was familiar with the Indian Territory in what is now Oklahoma.

In 32 years, Reeves arrested more than 3,000 fugitives, including his own son on a murder charge. Sometimes he used disguises to track criminals. Notorius outlaw Belle Starr surrendered when she learned that Reeves had the warrant for her arrest. He was involved in numerous shoot-outs, and killed 14 outlaws.”

And on May 9, 2013, in gun controlled Washington DC, 4 people were shot including a 3-year old girl. http://washingtonexaminer.com/toddler-shot-in-southeast-d.c.-three-shot-in-northeast/article/2529365
