With universal registration and bizarre regulations, we’ve always known confiscation is the ultimate goal, and now it’s happening in New York. Or as Obama would say, If you like your gun, you can keep your gun. The good news is, you can still move out of Manhattan. I’m sure someday that will also be prohibited.
NYPD cracks down on long guns that hold more than five rounds
The New York City Police Department is taking aim at owners of shotguns and rifles capable of holding more than five rounds, demanding such guns be surrendered, altered or taken out of the city.
The demand came in the form of some 500 letters mailed out to owners of registered long guns that are in violation of a 2010 city ordinance. The first option for the letter’s recipient is to, “Immediately surrender your Rifle and/or Shotgun to your local police precinct, and notify this office of the invoice number. The firearm may be sold or permanently removed from the City of New York thereafter.”
The notices, mailed Nov. 18, also give owners the options of demonstrating the gun has been moved out of NYPD jurisdiction or modified by a licensed gunsmith to comply with the law…
Though these notices were not sent out as a direct result of the SAFE Act, New York State Assemblyman James Tedisco said the new law may embolden city police forces to send out similar letters.
Tedisco, who voted against the SAFE Act, said New York City had the five-round law in the books for about 20 years, but this is the first time he has heard complaints about the notices being sent out to gun owners.
“These letters appear to be another example of the Nanny State,” Tedisco said. “Hypothetically, it can start with a letter, and then that can lead to someone knocking on your door saying, ‘I want to see your gun.'”
This is why leaving laws on the books even though they’re “not enforced” is always completely unacceptable. They’re on the books for a reason, so they can be enforced whenever Big Government thinks they have a window to do so.

Is NYC trying to become the next Chicago? The next thing we’ll hear is that NYC is a gun-free zone. The drug dealers and everyday criminals are loving this.
What do you expect big government liberals and progressives to do? Do you actually think that they would pass laws giving the people more freedom? You big city dwellers voted for these authoritarian pinheads. You deserve what you get. The police are complicit in this too. They have no regard for the 2nd amendment. Move to Texas or Florida. I can have a 100 round mag here if I want.
The question is, what will the New Yorkers do about this treason?
They will do as all have done in tyrannical nations, lie down without a fight. Thus is freedom lost.
The tension over the 2nd amendment is growing. We have a German lady here that lived thru Hitler’s successful confiscation of guns and she has been worried for a long time about Obama’s intentions to disarm us. He knows the American people will never give up arms peacefully and he will use it to assure the unrest needed to unleash his new federal army. We have seen his DHS cars in Spokane – too close for comfort.
Mark Steyn alerts us to this NYC situation. Police shot at an unarmed mentally ill man and hit 2 bystanders. So of course the city is charging the mentally ill man with assaulting the bystanders.
