Unfortunately, not surprised. Fortunately, the Robertsons stood their ground.

In an interview with sports spectrum magazine Willie & Phil Robertson, stars of Duck Dynasty, talk about fake bleeps, praying in Jesus’ name, and getting flack from Christians.

When the editors of Duck Dynasty asked the stars to stop saying “In Jesus Name” during prayers because it might offend Muslims, Phil Robertson had to stand his ground.

Phil Robertson also admitted that fake bleeps were inserted into the show even though there was no cursing happening. “They inserted fake bleeps…like somebody had used profanity, but no one had used profanity. I asked the guys that produce the show…What’s the point of the fake bleeps?”

“If we are not using profanity, why make it look like we are using profanity?” -Phil Robertson

I am not at all surprised about the fake bleeps. It’s funny, i’ll often turn off a reality show that has all that bleeping. I guess I must be the odd one.

The Duck Dynasty people recently came on my radar, and I’m loving it.

I’m glancing at the elder’s book, “Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander” using the “Look inside” Amazon feature. It opens describing an amusing hypothetical genesis: Someone in the A&E meeting tossed out the absurd notion of a reality show based upon an American family that wasn’t dysfunctional. And they had to scour the country until they found some forgotten corner of functionality in the remote regions of Louisiana. Yep, that’s what it’s come to.

Duck Dynasty gets fantastic ratings and has a huge audience that love them. Why on earth would the editors want to change anything ? The mass appeal is due to the fact that the Robertsons are God loving christians who choose to not swear. They are hard working smart people. The viewers crave this entertainment. Wholesome, something you can watch with the whole family. The show always ends with a prayer of thanks and the family sitting down to have supper together. No cell phones at dinner, just conversation. A family to admire and emulate. The editors can learn something from them.
