yom kippur-jude

Oy Vey.

Happy…Holocaust?

Via JTA:

A Chicago news station used a graphic of a yellow badge, like those the Nazis forced Jews to wear during the Holocaust, to illustrate its report on the start of Yom Kippur.

WGN-TV aired the report on Tuesday night, hours into the Jewish Day of Atonement. The badge — shaped like the Star of David and featuring the word “Jude,” German for “Jew” — appeared atop concentration-camp-uniform stripes, and above the caption “Yom Kippur.”

WGN sought atonement for the graphic on Wednesday. The anchor who delivered the the Yom Kippur report said on air:

“Major correction tonight: We couldn’t see this from the set here, but in our story about Yom Kippur we apparently used a symbol that is extremely offensive to the Jewish community. We mistakenly showed a symbol used by Nazi Germany to identify Jews. We deeply apologize for that error.”

WGN, founded by the Chicago Tribune newspaper a few years after WWII ended and was part of the DuMont TV network, stands for, World’s Greatest Newspaper. WGN used to be on cable TV as the Superstation WGN. Dumont doesn’t exist now, the Trib isn’t that great, and the station not so super. Dewey defeats Truman. Again.

A new 95 page book, Kindle Single, is out that compares the 1973 Yom Kippur war to the Battle of Gettysburg. Written by a former IDF officer who was born in America. Sounds interesting. http://www.timesofisrael.com/a-yom-kippur-battle-through-the-lens-of-the-us-civil-war/

Either they are lying through their teeth and hate Jews or they are a prime example of the failure of our system of public education.

    • MACVEL says:

      It could be both.

      Hard to tell with libs.

    • The government education system spends so much time these day working to create good little leftist drones that there is no time left to focus on any actual education. No surprise then that young people often do not have even the most basic grasp of history. I would guess that Tammy is right on this one; this mistake was probably made by some ignorant young intern who knows nothing about history. Older people, who actually know something and have had some real education, would not have made such an error.

You should see some of the errors on our local TV station; example, “Healthy Snacks” spelled “Healthy Snakes”. The Government school systems do such a wonderful job, don’t they.

The Anti-Semite Graphics Department employee knew exactly what this meant, was a deliberate act, and they got caught. OR they are so stupid and lazy and used a public domain slide found on the internet not knowing the meaning. Either way, they should be immediately terminated.

    Triumph of the Wack.

(Wacker Drive is a famous double-decker road in downtown Chicago. There’s Upper Wacker Drive, Lower Wacker Drive, and Lower Lower Wacker Drive.)

This is what happens when you send your airhead intern to Google Images to hunt down a picture of something that looks appropriately “Jewish”. And there’s pervasive ignorant indifference up and down the line of “journalists” working in the newsroom, so either nobody notices or nobody cares.

Now they tell tell us, “We apparently used a symbol that is extremely offensive…” Do ya really think so, boys?

Hold on guys. If it wasn’t for CNN, we would never have known the Pope was not Jewish
