global warming

What a swell idea:

If you can’t win an argument on the merits…just arrest everyone who disagrees with you!

Via Breitbart:

Twenty alarmist climate scientists – including UN IPCC lead author Kevin ‘Travesty’ Trenberth – have written a letter to President Obama urging him to use RICO laws to crush dissent by climate skeptics. Their hypocrisy and dishonesty, especially that of the main signatory, almost defies belief.

The letter goes like this:

September 1, 2015
Dear President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, and OSTP Director Holdren,
As you know, an overwhelming majority of climate scientists are convinced about the potentially serious adverse effects of human-induced climate change on human health, agriculture, and biodiversity. We applaud your efforts to regulate emissions and the other steps you are taking. Nonetheless, as climate scientists we are exceedingly concerned that America’s response to climate change – indeed, the world’s response to climate change – is insufficient….

We appreciate that you are making aggressive and imaginative use of the limited tools available to you in the face of a recalcitrant Congress. One additional tool – recently proposed by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)– is a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation of corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change….

The methods of these organizations are quite similar to those used earlier by the tobacco industry. A RICO investigation (1999 to 2006) played an important role in stopping the tobacco industry from continuing to deceive the American people about the dangers of smoking. If corporations in the fossil fuel industry and their supporters are guilty of the misdeeds that have been documented in books and journal articles, it is imperative that these misdeeds be stopped as soon as possible so that America and the world can get on with the critically important business of finding effective ways to restabilize the Earth’s climate, before even more lasting damage is done….

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse proposes use of RICO against big oil. Let’s see, oil companies know that there are global climate activists, so the companies hold meetings and issue memos on how to address/respond/counter the activists which ‘proves’ that they know global climate is caused by oil which means that they can be prosecuted under RICO. Liberal logic circle, if you address my concern at all, it means I’m 100% right.

SW is a litigious-minded son of a gun. US atty. under Clinton, then Atty. Gen. of RI, now Senator, RI. Here’s a very good, longish, 2014 City Journal article on his State, RI. http://www.city-journal.org/2014/24_2_rhode-island.html

“…The culture of corruption and cronyism started early. Both the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist Papers used Rhode Island as a cautionary example. Over a century later, the state proved immune to Progressive Era reforms, and a 1905 jeremiad in McClure’s called its politics “notorious” and “shameful,” lamenting that “Rhode Island was, and it is, a State for sale.”

In the early 1900s, the Republican Party ran the state, wielding power through a Tammany Hall–style political machine. That changed in 1935, when Democrats seized control in the so-called Bloodless Revolution. In a power grab described at the time as “a startling coup” by the New York Times, the Democratic lieutenant governor refused to swear in two Republican senators who had won contested races the previous November. Democrats then declared their own candidates the winners in these elections and, having gained control of the chamber, effectively fired every Republican appointee in the state across 80 boards and commissions in a matter of minutes. The Democrats even sacked the Republican-dominated state supreme court….”

They don’t need to get the Dept of Justice (?) to put dissenters in jail — they can just have EPA fine them and have them put on controls for emitting CO2 …

Throw the virgin into the volcano! The volcano God must be appeased or we’ll all die! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

(Research doesn’t find instances of throwing human sacrifices into a volcano. That seems to be a relatively recent fiction creation. Human sacrifices were made throughout history, including to volcanos, but not by throwing the person into the volcano. 2013 Guardian article discusses human sacrifices by the Incas and ends with author lamenting that modern man won’t make sacrifices to avoid climate change catastrophe. http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/aug/04/why-incas-performed-human-sacrifice)

I am grateful for Tammy introducing me to the concept of projection. It always irritated me the way liberals would accuse others of things they’d like to do — like pushing Grandma over the cliff (health-care).

Here they wish on climate skeptics the very thing they should punished with — RICO.

“Does it make any sense to try to prosecute climate skeptics by referring to RICO? The answer is obviously No. They are not racketeering, they are not influenced, they are not corrupt, and they are not even an organization in any sense. However, someone else could be tried as a violator of the RICO act.

Just think about it: Which people are grouped in organizations that corrupt others? Which group of people has received over $50 billions for having done nothing useful because this group has been connected? Which major group in the world of 2015 is all about racketeering? […]

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen. The climate alarmism is clearly the greatest racket in the world as of 2015.”

Then, there are more obvious assertions of self-guilt, as Alain41 points out. The Guardian approves of the Incas. I can hear the lib-speak now: “At least they CARED. At least they TRIED to do something about it.” Never mind that it was immoral.

In other non-believer news; it has been in the news that the Obama administration has decided to not list the sage grouse on the Endangered Species List. A Win for limited government!? No. Because Obama is amending 15 land use agreements to include sage grouse protection. ‘Some say’ that Obama is doing this to mislead the public. Well yes, but there’s a more direct reason. Last year, Congress passed as part of a budget continuing resolution that no monies could be spent on putting the sage grouse on the ESL. So Obama is obeying the law! Technically. In practicality, amending the 15 land use agreements will accomplish the same principle objective of restricting western land use.

Just yesterday, AP changed its protocol; no longer write, climate change denier, it’s now climate change doubter. Rush’s tag line of, Don’t doubt me, now has a whole new meaning. Oh, and the left is highly upset with AP. Doubters! They don’t need no stinkin doubters! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/ap-climate-change-deniers_5601c55ae4b08820d91a99cc?utm_hp_ref=politics&ir=Politics&section=politics

Why don’t they just behead the infidels?

  10. strider says:

So we now have global warming doubters? Climate stagnation deniers? Bleating “climate change” sounds incredibly nonsensical. If the flying saucers landed now it would be to take out the garbage.
