A Russian jet violated Turkish airspace over the weekend. It left after being intercepted by Turkish F-16s. The Russian Defense Ministry said there was nothing nefarious going on.
“This current incident is a result of bad weather conditions in this region,” spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters. “You shouldn’t look for conspiracy theories.”
At first the Russians said it was a navigational error. John Kerry expressed concern saying it was the kind of thing that could have resulted in Turkey shooting down the Russian jet.
