So, is the WH admitting that there are factors, other than the “refusal of Congress” to enact draconian gun laws, that may contribute to mass shootings?

Nah, just another “never let a good crisis go to waste” moment.

Via The Hill:

White House press secretary Josh Earnest on Tuesday said the GOP’s 2016 presidential field could help fight gun violence by pushing for the expansion of Medicaid.

“We have heard [Republican White House] candidates talk about an openness to work with the administration on gun violence,” he told reporters during the White House’s daily press briefing.

“Many of them talk about improving mental healthcare,” Earnest said. “One of the biggest providers of mental healthcare — especially in disadvantaged communities — is Medicaid.

“For those who say they want to work with the administration in limiting gun violence, we would welcome the support for the Affordable Care Act and expanding Medicaid.”….

Medicaid pays for a great deal of mental health care but no, increasing Medicaid coverage won’t do anything to reduce illegal acts committed with firearms. A very large percentage of the U.S. population had health insurance prior to Obamacare. Obamacare has just slightly increased that percentage, primarily through expanded Medicaid. Medicaid pays for psychotropic drugs that help with health issues such as schizophrenia. Problems with people who suffer from that is invariably found to be not taking their medication not access to the medication. Also, Medicaid has a rule that it will not pay for psychiatric evaluations for adults aged 22-64 in Institutes of Mental Health (Psych. hospitals). The introduction of Medicaid was a significant factor in the disappearance of Psych. hospitals.

I’d love to see a Republican push back by saying that to address this, we need a greater moral foundation and therefore he/she calls upon all schools to post the 10 Commandments and teach that religion fights immorality. Now Obama join hands with me and let us pray.

Robert Frost was right about fences and good neighbors. And the rights of citizens to defend hearth, home and even nation by force of arms if necessary speak even louder. As to mental health, much of the problem is ameliorated by taking the lay-about classes off of their beds, porches and couches and putting them to work. “(T)his we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat,” Paul admonishes the Thessalonians in his second epistle to them. Even better is finding a cure for the world’s most insidious, pernicious mental disorders — Liberalism.

This is part of the broad left-wing push to replace the good-vs-evil framework with the healthy-vs-unhealthy analysis. We declare a shooter in need of mental therapy — which is of course true, but then how many of us haven’t faced crushing emotional problems at one time or another? I sure have, but only on rare occasion do I go shoot up a school or mall.

I’m not alone in regarding Mr. Obama as demonstrating dangerous signs of narcissistic personality disorder, but I don’t see him getting the treatment he needs. Instead, a sick man like Obama works to make the world conform to his sickness. So instead of getting personal treatment, Obama says We the People will be getting help, and it will be free, and we better take it. What unreasonable person could object to that?
