Let’s hope this is just the beginning of a comprehensive attack that will cripple Assad.
The United States launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night at a Syrian airfield in response to what it believes was the Syrian government’s use of banned chemical weapons blamed for having killed at least 100 people on Tuesday, U.S. military officials told NBC News.
Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired at least 50 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha’irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That’s the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons.
There was no immediate word on casualties. U.S. officials told NBC News that people were not targeted and that aircraft and infrastructure at the site, including the runway, were hit.
This sort of operation scares me, in that there’s potential for military conflict with Russia. But it doesn’t scare me nearly as much as Obama’s big mouth and then backing down, thus giving the bullies and monsters of the world free rein. Trump doesn’t want war, and I’m sure the Russians were given adequate warning for what was about to go down, so that they’d have a chance to pull their own people out of harm’s way (but not with enough advance warning to save the stuff we wanted to destroy).
A slightly different way to say “the best defense is a good offense.”

Keep up the great work, Kerry.
I believe that on the side of the missiles was writing that said, Reset.
I don’t have any problem whacking terrorists, but this does concern me. The US does not have an impressive record over the last 16 years when it comes to nation building and the Middle East is particularly unstable at the best of times. A power vacuum in Syria will almost certainly be filled by ISIS or some other terrorist group.
