When now-deceased American student Otto Warmbier was first arrested and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in prison in North Korea simply for taking down a poster, the response from some on the left was to mock him.
“North Korea Proves Your White Male Privilege Is Not Universal,” read one Huffington Post piece, penned by blogger La Sha, days after Warmbier was sentenced in March 2016….
Salon was, if anything, giddier.
“This might be America’s biggest idiot frat boy: Meet the UVa student who thought he could pull a prank in North Korea,” read the site’s headline.
Most of that piece was spent praising a segment from Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore,” in which Wilmore also mocked Warmbier.
“It’s just tough for me to have much sympathy for this guy and his crocodile tears,” Wilmore said.
“If your hazing includes international crimes, you’ve got to read the fine print on your American frat bro warranty … it says, ‘Frat Bro Privilege not valid in totalitarian dystopias,'” he joked….
There are days when my capacity to deal with these people and their vacuous nature is just tapped. Given this horrible situation, today is one of those.
Yes, VelvetHammer, agreed. These vile Leftists need to be called out. But I did not post the video of Larry Wilmore’s very unfunny rant. It was too awful and depressing.
The Leftists remarks and jokes are again sickening. These people have no sense of propriety & think they elevate themselves with stupid self serving remarks at the expense of others !
Having had a brother who died a tragic death at 23 yrs old . This story is especially disturbing to me . My heart aches for his family in their time of sorrow! That aside there are a bunch of issues surrounding this case . I hope the family not only sues the sponsoring agency for their irresponsibility in taking young people into a dangerous country ! And the US State Dept. for misleading the family & virtually doing nothing! This was the practice of the Obama Admin in more than 1 of these cases ! Telling the families to keep a low profile So as not to Anger NoKorea ! All while their family members are being tortured to death ! I heard Col Tony Schaefer report yesterday that Otto Warmbier was most likely tortured With Sodium Pentathol . Said when used in excess it will fry the brain !! This makes sense given the Med Team report seemed to indicate some type of drug was used .
These are the people that project their own racism onto some socially acceptable target and then expiate their sins in an orgy of racial hatred. All under the label of enlightened progress.
