Sad! 🙂

….A new poll from CNN, Trump’s sworn enemy, shows public support for impeaching the president is tanking, dropping by a whopping 12 percentage points among self-identified Democrats.

Overall, support for impeaching Trump dropped from 43 percent of those polled by SSRS in December to 36 percent this month, with the majority of the decline coming from weaning enthusiasm on the left.
Public support for impeachment now stands at the lowest level since CNN started the poll last summer. The poll peaked at 47 percent last fall.

“In December, 80% of self-identified Democrats said they were in favor of impeachment – now that stands at 68%, a 12-point dip. Among independents and Republicans, support for impeachment has fallen 3 points over the same time,” CNN reports.

The smaller decrease among independents and Republicans is undoubtedly because fewer supported the idea to begin with.
And it seems educated folks are beginning to see through the years-long fixation with removing Trump….

I think a significant contributor to this decrease is the number of Democrats that have declared for the Presidency and are now campaigning. An Impeachment campaign and a simultaneous Presidential campaign seems unfair to most people.

Impeachment proceeding against Nixon would have been after his reelection. Which would have been more palatable. Before reelection, you can pressure a President to not run, like LBJ and Vietnam war, or vote against him if he does. I think citizens view impeachment as closer to Revolution by other means, rather than just another process for a political party to get its way.
