What disturbed me was when Beto said that despicable thing about America’s true founding being 1619 rather than 1776 (echoing the line of the disgusting New York Times), and that American prosperity was based upon slavery, the crowd responded with roaring applause. This is madness. America’s great strength came out of industry, not out of plantations, however profitable they might have been. And industry grew in the abolitionist states, and was stunted in the slave states. That’s why the North won the Civil War. If importing slaves made you a powerhouse, Brazil would rule the world. What’s wrong with these people?
