If You Like COVID-19 Quarantine, You’ll *Love* The Green New Deal
by Shifra on May 20, 2020You will be able to go to a restaurant under the Green New Deal without getting arrested. You just won’t be able to order a steak, because… cow flatulence, or something. Arugula, anyone? And if you like being treated like an infant by your local authorities, you will absolutely adore having the Federal government dictate your every move. Think of the Green New Deal as the COVID-19 quarantine…on steroids. Via NY Post. The cost of the left’s Green New Deal is so enormous most Americans were probably never able to appreciate its true magnitude. Now, thanks to the COVID-19 crisis, maybe they can…. Last year, a study co-authored by a former head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found the...

The Largest Public Companies Taking PPP Loans Meant For Small Business
by Tammy on April 21, 2020All businesses are important, but the spirit of the PPP law providing payroll loans/grants was meant to save small businesses, mom-and-pop type, and small entrepreneurs. Here, CNBC lists the *publicly held* companies who have received the PPP grants. Now that another batch seems to be ready to pass Congress it’s clear the focus must be small businesses. At least Shake Shake, which also had taken the money, gave it back after being embarrassed by the public exposure. Perhaps a campaign of public shame and exposure could convince some of these public companies to also give the money the back. UPDATE: At today’s coronavirus briefing, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said that the PPP program was “not meant” for large public companies...

Bernie Politicizes Hospital Stay, But Where Would He Be Today If We Had ‘Medicare For All’ ?
by Shifra on October 3, 2019Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and the other occupants of the Dem Clown Car, er, the other 2020 Democrat Candidates, are lying about the so-called “Medicare For All,” which should be named “Health Care For None.” Even when in the hospital, he promoted the scheme. Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm feeling good. I'm fortunate to have good health care and great doctors and nurses helping me to recover. None of us know when a medical emergency might affect us. And no one should fear going bankrupt if it occurs. Medicare for All! — Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) October 2, 2019 As a Canadian friend of mine summed up health care in Canada: “It’s really ‘great’…until you need to see a...

Supreme Court Sides with Baker in Same-Sex Wedding Cake Case
by Tammy on June 4, 2018This is good news, but they punted in one way– while excoriating the Colorado Civil Rights Commission for their treatment of the baker, they did not ultimately answer the broader issue of religious liberty. So it’s good news in part. Keep in mind, this case is from 2012, so it took 6 years, and the baker lost at every other level of the justice system. That should worry us. Here are the details. Via Fox News. The Supreme Court ruled Monday in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, in one of the most closely watched cases of the term. In a 7-2 decision, the justices set aside a Colorado court...

Feds Spent $300K for Clown School… in Argentina
by Shifra on December 26, 2017Wouldn’t it be much cheaper to bring the students here so they could just observe Pelosi, Schumer and the CNN and MSNBC clowns on TV? Just a suggestion. Via Daily Caller. Republican Sen. Rand Paul claimed Saturday that the U.S. has spent around $300,000 to fund a clown school in Argentina. “They spent $324,015 to pay for a clown school in Argentina,” Paul, from Kentucky, tweeted as part of his annual “Airing of Grievances” to highlight what he considers wasteful government spending. Verdict: True A U.S. agency provided foreign aid to a circus school for Argentinian youth. Paul releases a “waste report” each year that draws attention to federal dollars spent around the globe. The 2017 report includes tongue-in-cheek examples...

Comey FBI Didn’t Alert US Officials of Russian Hacking Attempts
by Tammy on November 26, 2017Excellent work here by the Associated Press. Click through for the whole story. I will add a warning, however, that in this story there is still a *presumption* that the Russians had hacked the DNC server, but no one really knows to this day. Why? Because, as noted in the story, Comey’s FBI never seized the DNC server but worked off a “copy,” which he said was just a good. That’s simply idiotic and highlights what an incompetent and partisan menace Comey has always been. This coverage, however, is also a reminder about the hypocrisy and absurdity of the entire Obama administration. On one hand, Obama complained (when everyone thought Hillary was winning) that no one could actually think Russia...

Lerner, Paz Say They Fear Physical Harm From Enraged Public, Want IRS Testimony Sealed Permanently
by Tammy on November 20, 2017Yet, the only people actually experiencing physical harm these days are Republicans and conservatives at the hands of liberals. These people are frauds and are simply trying to use the courts to implement the protection they received for years from the Obama administration. Via Washington Times. Former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that members of her family, including “young children,” face death threats and a real risk of physical harm if her explanation of the tea party targeting scandal becomes public. Ms. Lerner and Holly Paz, her deputy at the IRS, filed documents in court Thursday saying tapes and transcripts of depositions they gave in a court case this year must remain sealed in...

Senator Feinstein Admits No Law Could Have Stopped Vegas Gunman
by Tammy on October 8, 2017But she keeps pushing for new laws anyway. Because Democrats never want to let a good crisis go to waste. All theatre, all the time, as they work to knowingly pass laws that won’t solve the particular problems we face but do give them more control over the population in general, while then doing nothing that will actually address the scourge of mass violence. Shameful. Via CBS. Sen. Dianne Feinstein told CBS “Face the Nation” no law would have stopped the Las Vegas shooter from killing 58 people and injuring more than 500 at a country music concert last week. The California Democrat made the comment as Congress debates how — or whether — to move forward on gun control...

Feds Spend $429K Tracking Eye Movements of Latinos at Grocery Stores
by Tammy on September 27, 2017And Congress can’t figure out where we’ll get the money to pay for the wall, or provide veterans with decent care, or cut taxes. Go figure… But make no mistake, this is simply another idiotic excuse, a pretend investigation at a university, to throw money at leftist academics. If we stop this sort of fraud and abuse, we’d have a heck of a lot more money for things that matter, including tax cuts. Via Free Beacon. The National Institutes of Health is spending over $400,000 on a study tracking the eye movements of Latinos and their children at grocery stores in a bid to fight obesity. The study at San Diego State University is using “eye-tracking technology” to determine how...

VA Hospital Serves RAW Food to Vets
by Tammy on May 13, 2017Astounding. This is a hospital where patients will already likely have compromised immune systems and then to be fed raw chicken which carries bacterial and other pathogens? I’m not seeing any major change coming from Director Shulkin when reforming the VA was a major focus of the Trump campaign. This situation simply highlights how this horrible situation isn’t just about wait times, but a system that has abandoned our vets. Via the Daily Caller. A suburban Chicago Veterans Affairs hospital is serving raw, uncooked, and expired food while the head of the nutrition department sells handbags on government time. Photos acquired exclusively by The Daily Caller show food at the Hines VA Medical Center is often served raw, routinely served...

Court Finds Veteran Not Guilty of Federal Crime for Displaying American Flags
by Tammy on April 19, 2017Thanks to Judicial Watch. Judicial Watch today announced that a California U.S. District Court has ruled that 75-year-old veteran Robert Rosebrock is not guilty of violating federal law for displaying two four by six inch American Flags above a Veterans Affairs (VA) fence on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016. The rulings were handed down in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (United States of America v. Robert L. Rosebrock, (CC11, 4920201; 4920202; 6593951). Rosebrock had been charged with desecrating the VA grounds by hanging the displaying the two napkin-sized American Flags on a section of the fence adjacent to the Great Lawn Gate at the entrance to the Veterans Park. Rosebrock attorneys pointed out that in the...

EPA Employees Billed Taxpayers $15,000 for Gym Memberships in Vegas
by Tammy on April 11, 2017Yeah, it’s time for bogus agencies like this to get kicked to the curb. Let’s hope President Trump does just that. Via Free Beacon. Environmental Protection Agency employees billed taxpayers roughly $15,000 for gym memberships, while numerous employees are upset over looming budget cuts. An agency library in Las Vegas, Nevada, bought 37 employees one-year memberships to the gym 24 Hour Fitness, according to a receipt obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The “super sport” memberships cost $399.99 each. The employees work at the U.S. Environmental Science Division located at 944 East Harmon Ave. in Las Vegas. The address is home to the EPA’s National Exposure Research Laboratory and a library on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus,...

Rand Paul Calls For Susan Rice To Testify On Unmasking Trump Officials
by Tammy on April 3, 2017Which would be meaningless unless she’s under oath, and especially stupid if they don’t intend to hold her accountable. Considering they never held Clapper accountable for lying to them (which he admitted) and allowed the IRS’ Lois Lerner to escape after she voided taking of the 5th by making a statement, we should only presume this would be another dog and pony show. Unless President Trump demands otherwise. Note in his comments he’s already presuming the swamp will “downplay” the situation. This would be remarkable considering the severity and unprecedented nature of the action. Via Daily Caller. GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said he believes former National Security Advisor Susan Rice should testify before Congress on her request to unmask...

NBC Touts NYC Subway Line That Took 96 Years As ‘Proof’ Gov’t Can Still Do Big Things
by Shifra on January 2, 2017No, really, this is not from The Onion. Via NewsBusters. …an NBC reporter praised the completion of the first stage of the project as a great example of “showing people that government can still do big things.” This portion of the subway line took 96 years to complete. Now scheduled to open on New Year’s Day, 2017, the line was proposed in 1920. Put on hold because of the Great Depression, the project sputtered along until 2007 when construction restarted in earnest. One of several photos from the line’s checkered history shows Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller breaking ground for its construction in 1972. The 30 block expansion is the largest in 50 years for the aging subway system, with a...

New Fed Target: Seesaws
by Shifra on December 15, 2016Yes, the Playground Police have struck again. Dodge ball – out. Seesaws – out. What’s left to do at the playground? Coloring and play-doh ? Maybe playing Hide-and-Go-Seek-Safe Spaces? Via NY Post. So long, seesaws. You’ve had your ups and downs over the years, but today you’re not only down, you’re out. Like smoking, chainsaw-juggling and dodgeball, you became too much of a public-health menace to be tolerated. The federal government is knocking seesaws out of existence, according to the New York Times. That’s right, the same people who keep warning us about the childhood obesity epidemic that just happened to come along when childhood “play” was redefined from “running around madly” to “pressing sideways-pointing triangle on screen” are now...
