Flashback: WaPo Columnist Who Mocked Melania’s Coat Called Hillary ‘Style Icon’
by Shifra on December 3, 2019According to Wapo’s Robin Givhans, Melania Trump’s coat is “ridiculous.” But Hillary Clinton is a style icon ? OK, got it. Whatever… Via Federalist. You’ve likely noticed that many in the media are a bit emotionally invested in defeating Donald Trump. Even so, this headline from the Washington Post takes things to dramatic new journalistic lows:…. But in a non-partisan way, Clinton’s proximity to the presidency has invited designers to reconsider the relationship that women have to power and how it manifests in attire and style. Designers have responded in ways that have been inventive, charming and reassuring. They have refused to be caught up in all the old clichés of polished jackets and below-the-knee skirts. And they are thinking...

Fashion Felony Alert: The High Heeled ‘Crocheel’
by Shifra on July 19, 2018Wow, these shoes are ugly…and they squeak. What could go wrong? Via Federalist. If you frequent the Internet, you may be aware that the Croc heel—or its properly repulsive nickname, the Crocheel—is making the hot take rounds. This abominable crime against taste and good sense has been around since 2007, but has only recently been brought to all of our attention. That has inexplicably resulted in the shoe selling out everywhere and ending up on Amazon for $200 instead of the original price of $50. As the degenerate offspring of the already ugly classic Croc and an orthopedic pump for old ladies, the model features some hideous hardware and a chunky-yet-gelatinous rubber heel of a few inches. Its combination of...

Woman in Pajama Bottoms Goes on Bank Robbery Spree
by Tammy on April 16, 2017Okey-dokey. Yes, but was she wearing a pajama top? I suppose if you’re going to resort to robbing banks you might as well be comfortable! LOL! Via Fox News. Utah police are searching for a woman in pajama bottoms who tried to rob five banks in a 90-minute period Saturday. The woman struck the banks in Salt Lake County between 9:21 a.m. and 11:55 a.m., Fox 13 Utah reports. Her bank robbery spree also includes a robbery Friday afternoon at a sixth Salt Lake County bank. Police say the woman netted cash in five of the heists, according to the station. She ran out of a bank Saturday empty handed apparently after becoming spooked. “It’s very brazen; she feels like...

Designer Thanks Melania For Wearing Dolce & Gabbana; Tells Critics ‘Go To Hell’
by Tammy on April 5, 2017Designer Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbano She looks great in the official FLOTUS photo, and it’s his blazer she’s wearing. It’s nice for her to have this support. Via The Wrap. The White House released Melania Trump’s first official portrait on Monday, and Italian designer Stefano Gabbana is cool with the fact that she is rocking a Dolce & Gabbana blazer — on top of the fact that she wore a massive diamond ring reportedly worth $3 million. The designer defended FLOTUS and told Instagram trolls who chided him for working with her to “go to hell.” Gabbana took to his personal Instagram account to post Trump’s portrait, taken by Belgian-born photographer Régine Mahaux, with the caption, “#DGWoman BEAUTIFUL...

FLOTUS Event Gown Draws Much Snark
by Shifra on December 5, 2016People are criticizing Michelle Obama’s dress at last night’s Kennedy Arts Center event. But I think it is actually very sweet that FLOTUS went to the Kennedy Center…dressed as a Christmas tree. This green number is a Gucci. At this rate, certain designers can’t refuse to dress Melania Trump, we won’t let them! But maybe someone should check to see if any of the WH drapes are missing… Via BizPac Review. President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama attended the final Kennedy Center Honors of his presidency and it was ugly. And the ugly didn’t stop with whatever green monstrosity Mrs. Obama was draped in. The group of mostly left-wing celebrities who gather once a year to pat each...

Does the Olympic Team USA Blazer Resemble the Russian Flag?
by Shifra on August 2, 2016Lots of Tweeps seem to think so. Via Daily Mail. Russian athletes may be lacking at the Rio Olympics – but it appears the country’s flag will be on the chest of every athlete in Team USA at the Opening Ceremony. On Friday, designer Ralph Lauren and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) unveiled the parade uniform American athletes will wear as they enter the Maracanã Stadium on August 5. The Polo Ralph Lauren outfit consists of a navy blue blazer, with a striped T-shirt and white jeans – and is based on an ‘all-American palette of red, white and blue.’ The company released a promotional image of Team USA’s Ryan Lochte, Jordan Burroughs, Melissa Stockwell, Conor Fields, April Ross...

KTLA Meterologist Told On-Air To Cover Up Bare Shoulders Because… E-Mails
by Tammy on May 15, 2016Sigh. KTLA is a great local station in Los Angeles, but boy, did they screw up with this. I find it very odd that any significant section of the audience would be offended by a cute black beaded dress. As you’ll see, one of the anchors actually interrupts her weather report, hands her a sweater and when asked why says “Getting a lot of emails.” Really? What gives? I’m guessing a majority of the audience was perfectly fine with it, and management over-reacted to a few snowflakes who have access to email. Final judgment: ridiculous. Am I wrong? I have a feeling you’ll have a few things to say in comments! Via Yahoo News. The video from @KTLA. They handed...

Fashion ‘Backward’ First Lady: Are FLOTUS And POTUS Laughing At Us?
by idaho_karen on September 15, 2014**Bumped up from TAM Wire. Posted by idaho_karen** Frankly, the fact that O & Mooch chose to support ‘Kaboom’ on the 9/11 anniversary is indicative of their attitude and ‘bad optics’. Apparently, neither one has the ability to empathize with the day. But then again, when you hate the country you lead, what can one expect? Via American Thinker: Thomas Lifson — The presidency as a private joke between the Obamas ….The presidency as put-on is a breathtaking bit of audacity, at first inconceivable to anyone who takes seriously the gravity of the responsibilities inherent in the office…. Lucianne Goldberg sent me a picture of the First Lady’s outfit worn at the hyper-ironic commemoration of 911 she chose to attend....

Maynard’s New Underwear
by Maynard on January 26, 2011Maynard blathers on about something or other They told me there was a SotU speech tonight. I didn’t watch it. Why should I? I don’t care what politicians say; I care what they do. It strikes me as more than a little terrifying that voters make up their minds based upon speeches. That’s crazy, especially when you’ve got a guy that’s just spent two years doing the polar opposite of what he promised. What did he tell us in order to get our votes? Consensus, transparency, fiscal responsibility, no more earmarks, no more lobbyists, no more kicking the can down the road and leaving a mess for the next guy to clean up, peace in the Middle East, health care...

Is it just me?
by Maynard on September 19, 2009A post by Maynard Tammy had noted the First Lady’s belt looked like a hose clamp, but I found it reminiscent of a suicide belt. I wouldn’t read too much into this goofy observation; I really don’t worry overmuch about what the Washington bozos look like. But that’s the image that came to mind. Michelle’s getup looks sort of like this basic model, except with a bit more pizazz. As you can see, suicide belts are becoming quite haut fashion these days. Others have suggested that Michelle takes her cue, not from bombers, but from the amiable Marv of Sin City fame.

Michelle Obama in Shorts vs. Sarah Palin In Shorts
by Tammy on August 22, 2009All I can do is refer you to Mofo Politics, your daily dose of hoping Obama fails, for one of the more astute and comprehensive analysis I’ve yet to see. Okay, I will give you a sampling of one more piece of evidence that the results of November 4th were indeed an error of epic proportions.

Norm Coleman Has Finally, Officially, Lost to a Clown
by Tammy on June 30, 2009And Washington, DC has one more to add to their circus finally admitting an actual clown to the formerly esteemed Senate. No more can they pretend to be anything other than what they all are. Court declares Franken the winner of Minnesota Senate race Minnesota’s Supreme Court has dismissed former Sen. Norm Coleman’s challenge to the state’s November election results and declared Democratic challenger Al Franken the winner. The unanimous opinion ruled that Franken “received the highest number of votes legally cast” and is entitled “to receive the certificate of election as United States senator from the state of Minnesota.” The former “Saturday Night Live” writer and performer had declared victory in the disputed race after a recount ended in...
