Eggs And Bacon Bay, Australia Considers Name Change to… Apple and Cherry Pie Bay
by Shifra on September 25, 2016Yes, this is a true story. Because you can’t make this stuff up. Via WSJ. Yes, there is a place in Australia named for eggs and bacon. And yes, some people have a problem with that. It’s not the ridiculousness of the name they object to. It’s the cholesterol. Peter Coad, the mayor of the area, which is found on the island of Tasmania, has thrown his weight behind a proposal to come up with a different, healthier name. He believes this would help enhance the Huon Valley’s image as a place where foodies can load up on farm-fresh produce and seafood. “If we can promote healthy lifestyles then I think we should,” he said. “Considering the high levels of...

Hillary’s ‘Deplorables’ Gaffe Inspires Line of Merchandise
by Shifra on September 13, 2016I would definitely wear this t-shirt in Manhattan…but only if accompanied by Tammy…and Tammy’s dog Sydney. Ya know, for protection. Via Fox News. Just days after Hillary Clinton said she regretted calling half of Donald Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables,” some of those supporters are embracing the title — while enterprising web retailers seize the moment by quickly churning out a line of “deplorables” merchandise…. Clinton walked back the remark the next day, with some commentators comparing it to Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” gaffe. Some pro-Trumpers, however, are adopting the “deplorable” name on social media, or at least having a lot of fun with it. One Internet meme that zipped around showed a doctored version of a poster for...

CNN’s cameras jumped around between feeds trying to shake the homemade signs, but their efforts were to no avail. And here’s the sign’s debut, last year. Priceless 🙂 ****************************************************

Fox 4 News reported Saturday that a lighted sign along Interstate 30 between Hampton Road and Sylvan Avenue was changed to read, “Hillary for Prison.” (The hacker spelled everything right, but whoever labeled the image for Fox 4 stuck an extra “r” in prison.) The sign’s message alternately said, “Free Barrett Brown,” a reference to the Dallas writer with ties to the “hacktivist” collective Anonymous. by Tammy on April 26, 2016No matter what you think of Trump, this is very funny and what all of us think 🙂 “B-actor with no mojo.” Bwahahaha! Via RCP. Donald Trump phoned in to Fox & Friends Tuesday morning and reacted to ‘B-list’ actress Lena Dunham threatening to move to Canada if he won the presidency. “Well, she’s a B actor and has no mojo. I heard Whoopi Goldberg said that too – that would be a great, great thing for our country if she got out. We’ll get rid of Rosie? Oh I love it. Now I have to get elected because I’ll be doing a great service to our country. I have to. Now it’s much more important. In fact, I’ll immediately...

Correction of the Year: NYT Apologizes For Misspelling Indian Village
by Shifra on March 16, 2016It’s “Thiruvenkatanathapuram,” “Thiruvenkanathapuram.” The New York Times is such a stickler for facts and truth? Who knew? Via NewsBusters: ….Correction: March 15, 2016 An earlier version of this article misspelled in one instance the name of a village in India where the family of Sri Srinivasan once lived. The village is Mela Thiruvenkatanathapuram, not Mela Thiruvenkanathapuram. The humor of that correction works at so many different levels. First of all, the utter seriousness in which the correction was made. Then there is the thought that somebody actually spotted the error of that village name and was sufficiently alarmed to notify the New York Times. Of course, the Times could have quietly made a correction that nobody would have noticed but...
